Luka Modric / Signs for Real Madrid

Modric: anything is possible

Luka Modric is staying focused on resuming training with Tottenham but has admitted 'anything is possible' with regard to his future.

The Croatian playmaker will report back to Spurs on Thursday following a summer break and is due to hold talks with club chairman Daniel Levy.

Speculation has been rife about what will be said at that meeting, with reports suggesting Modric will declare that he wants to join Chelsea.

The Blues failed with a £22million bid for the 25-year-old last month and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has made it clear that he does not want to sell such a key player at any price.

Modric refused to be drawn on the subject as he prepared to jet out of Zagreb airport to return to England.

Appointment
"Today I have a flight to London and tomorrow I will start training," he said on Sky Sports News when questioned about what it was like to be at the centre of such media attention.

"I will report back to Tottenham, and that is all for now."

Asked if the chairman would be waiting to hold talks with him, Modric continued: "I have an appointment to meet him, but we will see what happens after that.

"That's all I can say for now. I can't comment any more."

Modric has previously stated that he is happy in London but would be keen on a move to Chelsea because he has ambitions to fight for the Premier League title and win the Champions League.

Asked if a transfer to Chelsea was possible, Modric replied: "Anything is possible, of course."

Anyone watching SSN and their reporter attacking him with questions at the airport when he got back in the country?

We've picked up quite a few Croatian fans by having Kranjcar, Corluka and Modric in the squad. Unsurprisingly, seems that ssn have been telling little porkies. They've been saying on the forums that the interviewer doesn't mention Chelsea at all. And one of them wrote this on one of skysport's article...to then promptly be deleted:

'I'm fluent in both English and Croatian and have just watched the video, the interviewer does not mention Chelsea, neither does Luka. The part I'm guessing you're misinterpreting is when the interviewer asks, "Ali moguce je sve?" which translates to something like "Anything is possible?" not "Chelsea is well appealing innit?" - Maybe sack your translator, or would you get less stories that way?'

Mischievous bastards.

40 minute meeting over then, wnder what was said.....

SSN saying there's big news coming up regarding Luka Modric. A transfer request, I'd imagine?

Big news on Luka Modric coming up on #ssn

i think he said he wish to leave spurs and want to join chelsea, thats the likely outcome.

Told Modric he's staying, Modric understands.

SSN man asks 'What if Chelsea come in with a bigger offer?' No difference, not for sale, no negotiation.

:D

Probably that it wasn't Modric at all, he sent a Modric disguised robot in his place and he is in fact out chasing leprechauns as he loves rainbows and wants to get the pots of gold in order to buy unicorns to feed to his dragons, who are addicted to burning things and trampolining, mainly burning things

If it's not that, I don't want to know...

The question was 'Who would do best at United?' which is slightly different.

Well presumably we all want the player we think will do the best! In any case my point was that the poll has nothing to do with how attainable the caf as a whole thinks Modric is.

"He understands?"

No shit he understands. Is he going to accept it, is the real question.

He's an idiot for looking after the interests of his club. How do you reach that conclusion?

Looking out for his club? Yes keeping a player that doesn't want to be their is looking out for his club. Maybe he should have kept Berbatov and Carrick too. Unless Spurs are planning to stun the world with signings that will bring them into the top 3, keeping Modric isn't going to make a difference regardless.

its no secret Modric want to leave to play in the champions league and win major titles...it seem he is being forced to stay against his own will.

Erm, keeping an unsettled player against his will or pocketing £30m+, I know what I would have done if I had been Mr Baldy.

But Modric doesn't really seem like the type to sulk all year because he wants to be somewhere else. If he's still with Spurs for next season, I don't expect to see a drop in his performance levels to be honest.

He is in charge, the player is contracted to them for 3 more years.
they decide if they want to sell or not.
