UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

This is not going to go away. These looters are complete cowards and as soon as the police are given the green light to use a bit more force, and as soon as the politicians make it clear about the repercussions they all stay inside.

Thing is, there won't be 16,000 police on the streets of London for ever, and now that this has happened I foresee future events taking place in a more organised light.

It's really sad what has happened over the past 4 days and I fear for the future

Man, that's a depressing thought.

Absolute spastics, it's things like that photo that make me want to just smash his face in with anything I can. What the feck is wrong with some people. 'Oi, give me all your clothes and walk home naked.'

It's a power thing

Im just shocked westfields is still standing.

They were never going to attack Westfield...if the police turned up (and there were quite a few police already there) they would've been kettled inside. West has gotten almost completely away with it though...Apart from Ealing of course...

But then, and I seem like I'm repeating myself or being overly blase a lot about this I'm sure, it is being made far more of than it's like in reality...It's not WW3...It's not Mad Max. People aren't fearing for their lives. There isn't mass panic on the streets. No ones been attacked here in Bricky or Claps. A few things on fire looks apocalyptic on the telly, but it hasn't ground anything to a hault. Everyone's getting on with things and have been bopping around here, sitting in the park, chatting with their mates.. The clean up down here today was all very jovial and wandering around Brix yesterday all the Markets were still going on and everything was relatively normal..

Honestly, we're all alright. It might well get worse and then you can come back and quote me and I'll look like I didn't take it seriously, but right now people are getting a bit OTT about it all IMO...I'm enjoying a nice glass of cider and going to play FIFA... I certainly don't feel like I'm in the middle of a war zone.

Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner...I don't know. But I seem to be taking this far less seriously than a lot of people who seem to think it's anarchy here, and I'm supposedly in one of the main hubs of it...Everything looks more scary on the telly is all I'd say.

It's a different story if you own a business or live above one of course, but Joe public at large don't need to be getting hysterical yet.

I'd like to show that cnut some power. Smashing up Debenhams where the CEO will just spend money to replace it is one thing, granted it's unacceptable but let's face it, it's not on the same level as setting fire to residential houses and mugging people for all their clothes in the street. I mean what the feck, is your problem with the police or with your fellow people in your community? Absolute scum.

Nah, that's what they said about the banlieues, it doesn't happen like that. These things have a momentum of their own, they can't be sustained indefinitely.

Yeah but Twitter. Think about it Plech...this will won't die out thanks to Twitter.

Lads, get out to the city centre and end this. We have news

@garbosj Ian McGarry
Inter and #MUFC have reportedly agreed a fee of £33m for Wesley Sneijder. Player's representatives negotiating personal terms.

Ok there are sirens going off somewhere near me now, it can't be related but i haven't heard sirens here for years so it's just a bit of a weird coincidence.

Disagree.

All of my closest towns: Wimbledon, Croydon, Bromley were all shut down mid afternoon today and with it shops, supermarkets, my gym etc. People are taking major precautions early and it creates a lot of tension.

There was even a crack in the glass at my local Waitrose.

It might not be ruining the lives of every single individual in London Mockney, but be fair, some people's homes and livelihoods have been burnt down. Not nice.

Evening gimps.

For any Essex geezers on here, Lakeside is NOT currently on fire/being looted/under attack from Hitler. Nothing is happening there, except they've boarded up the outside shop entrances, which is odd in itself as they all have bomb proof security shutters. The Police are all currently sat around at C100 station eating fish and chips. If anything there's less rioting here than usual seeing as the West Ham game was cancelled.

And while I'm here, have the phrases "kicking off/kicked off/going to kick off" ever been more ridiculously overused than today? fecking stop it the lot of you.

Believe me Kinks, it's not.

I dunno man. I think this has proven something to mindless trouble makers. It's a rapid form of destruction organised on social networking site and secure blackberry messenger.

Unless something happens that clearly displays to potential trouble makers that it just not worth it, what do you see stand in the way of this being stopped for good ?

The shop opposite ours is getting smashed in. Complete wankers.

You see, now this is what pisses me off (apart from the content of picture).

This photo has been around for fecking ages, yet the papers are twisting it saying its 'a part of the riot'. fecking rags.
