Spoony is God

The great manc title race.

Two of the best teams in the league head to head. One with history, prestige and honour, another with a poznan dance.

It's been very close for the last couple of seasons and it shall be again this time around. Can go either way, I believe Rooney will have a huge say.

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Jones
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Evans
LB: Evra

RM: Nani
CM: Fletcher
CM: Anderson
LM: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, Vidic, Carrick, Giggs, Park, Hernandez

You could probably argue a case for Smalling over Jones at RB but I just feel the latter has that little bit extra going forward. I'd stick with Evans over Vidic due to his recent good form and Vida's lack of recent minutes. Welbeck over Hernandez due to Chich probably being the better bet of scoring from the bench and Welbeck's better link up play.

I'm worryingly confident of us winning this game, I'd probably take a draw if it not for our awesome winning run at OT we're currently on.

Should be Rio and Vidic. Can't remember when that happened last.

DDG

Smalling
Rio
Evans - Vidic's form is a missed penalty and subsequent retirement for Serbia, and a red card for United.
Evra

Carrick
Anderson

Nani
Rooney
Young

Hernandez

United to win, and win well.

Still need to figure out how I'm gonna watch this. Grr.

With all due respect I can't understand why on Earth anyone would put Fletcher in their team, he hasn't played well for 14 months now.

Add to that how well Carrick played yesterday and it's all the more baffling. Hopefully Cleverley will be on the bench.

The rest of the team is bang on though.

Agree totally, Anderson & Carrick have been our best options with Cleverly still injured.

Perfect opening post, I applaud you Spoony.

I applaud her with a special type of clap, palm of hand repeatedly bashing against the willy type of clap.

It's a vicious/sensual battle.

I thought Fletcher did ok against Liverpool, and regardless of that we just seem to always get a result when he's in the team in the big matches so he kinda goes in by default for me

I dont think Giggs or Park have played any better than Fletcher so far this season (maybe Giggs against Benfica but I didn't see that game)

--------------The Gay
Smalling----Rio-------Vidic-----Evra
----------Carrick-----Fletch---------
Nani-----------Rooney--------Young
----------------Welbz

A scrappy 2-1 will do just fine

------------ De Gea
Smalling - Rio - Vidic - Evra
------ Carrick - Jones -------
Nani ----- Rooney -----Young
---------- Chicharito ---------

De Gea

Smalling
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Nani
Carrick
Anderson
Young

Rooney
Hernandez

1-0 United

Tevez to come off the bench after 90 mins then win it with an own goal in 97th min.

I wouldnt play Vidic he still seems rusty as he has been out since the first game. Evans is on good form and its good we rested Rio.

De Gea
Jones / Smalling
Ferdiand
Evans
Evra
Nani
Anderson
Carrick
Young
Rooney
Welbeck

At the moment, this is what I expect:

* de Gea starts in goal.
* Ferdinand returns.
* Smalling & Carrick keep their places due to good performances last night.
* Young comes back in.
* Nani, Rooney, and Evra keep their places.

The rest I'm unsure about. Anderson could well stay in, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Giggs and/or Fletcher come back either. Jones or Evans could start over Vidic, potentially with Smalling shifting to Right Back. But I'd still rather start Vidic in hope that he and Ferdinand can just slot in together like usual, and hope that Vidic got rid of all of his cobwebs last night. Welbeck or Hernández could partner Rooney, but I think they're both likely to start on the bench and our midfield three will contain three of our four currently fit central players. Cleverley might make the bench but this could be a little bit too early.

Based on that, I'm thinking:

de Gea
Smalling Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Carrick
Fletcher Giggs
Nani Rooney Young
--
Lindegaard; Jones, Evans; Anderson, Cleverley; Hernández, Welbeck

Only other change to that 18 I can see is big-game player Park making it.. Probably over Cleverley (unless Vidic is left out entirely, with a defender slotting in and Ji-Sung on the bench).

Desperate to win this one. Will probably be watching with a City fan too..

What do you expect the team for them to be?

Aguero, Nasri, Silva as front three, Toure, De Jong, Barry central mid?

Based on nothing but my opinion I reckon they'll go

------------------Hart-------------------
Richards--Kompany--Lescott--Kolarov
----------------De Jong----------------
------Y.Toure-------------Silva------
Milner---------Balotelli---------Nasri

They didn't rest him to begin with, he was coming back from an injury
