Awful news. Not only this will set him back even more (another wasted season) but with Cleverley out we now have only Carrick and Fletcher.

On the positive side we'd probably see a midfield without much rotation in the next month.
I guess Giggs and Park could do a job too but it's not ideal imo.

Just please no more Rooney in there.

One of our best players in our great early season form. Did you misee that?

some people here have been giving him sticks for his poor form lately and also said he cannot make it with us, maybe it will please them.

What's that saying about form and class? Im sorry for Ando, he's a decent lad and all but Ill be more worried if a first teamer got injured.

feck me so he had a dip in form whilst being asked to play with Rooney in midfield as well as multiple others.

Tell you what, that's worth mocking him for! "Injured again mate.... ah yeah, we'll miss you, ha ha ha!"

Says who?

Manchester United midfielder Anderson will be out of action until February with a knee injury, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed.

The Brazilian, 23, has travelled to Portugal to see the same specialist who performed an operation on a damaged cruciate ligament two years ago.

Anderson has not played since the European match against Otelul Galati on 2 November because of the knee injury.

Ferguson described the latest development as "not good news".

Tough for the lad, but I'm afraid time is running out for him. Wouldn't have surprised me if we got rid last summer, and his chances aren't great following next. Injury aside, I don't think he has justified Fergie's patience.

Total bollocks.

He was our best midfielder early doors, it's not his ability that has been in question for the last 18 months, it's his fitness.

Anderson out until February

Brazilian midfielder Anderson has been ruled out until February with a knee injury.

Sir Alex revealed the blow at his Friday press conference after the South American has been missing since being substituted in the home win against Otelul Galati.

"It's in the midfield area where we've still got issues with Tom Cleverley and Anderson," stated the boss. "It's not good news about Anderson, we don't think he'll be fit until February.

"He's got this knee injury and we've sent him back to Portugal to see the specialist who operated on his knee last time. That's a bit of a blow, we didn't expect that one. So that's the two midfield players who are going to be missing for a spell now."

The manager insists he still has enough options in the middle of the park - even though injuries have taken their toll in the position this term.

"We're not as bad as people think we are in midfield," he stressed. "We have Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher, and if we get Tom Cleverley back for Christmas that'll be a bonus. We'll be okay, we have a strong squad."

One thing that is certain is Sir Alex won't be rushing into the January transfer market as a consequence. "It's dead easy to say you'll go out and buy players," he warned. "But it's not easy to buy players who are good enough for Manchester United, especially in January."

anyone agree with fergie on that?

I'd add that his consistency has been very questionable. One week he's been class, the next he's utter shite. That, for me, is the bigger problem with big fat Anderson.

He's been suffering from dip of form quite frequently in the past few yrs hasn't he?

I think I made my point. I feel sorry for him and its a blow for United but I would have been worried if someone like Rooney got injured.

Not bad if you consider all the injuries and the fact this has been one of our best ever starts to a Premier League campaign.

feck sakeeee! Really think he would have pushed on this year.

It was certainly looking like he would.

Unfortunely he's still yet to justify Ferguson's faith in him and the price we paid, I'm not even sure if he has anymore faith in him actually.

Seriously? You could have just said what a blow it is for the lad, and yet another setback for him.

Plus it leaves us even more light in midfield.

I agree with all this but that's not my point

This "early doors" argument is being overused. "Early doors" was 4-5 matches, and he's been at the club for a while now. He's a nice lad and his goal celebrations are lovely, but we've all been waiting for something better to come out of the lad for some time now. Goals, assists, protection of the back 4- he's not top quality in any.

What goes through your mind when he gets a chance to have a shot on goal from the edge of the box?

We almost have to buy a CM in jan now tbh. Cleverley would just be back from injury. short on numbers now at the position.

I agree with this to be honest. Anderson won't make the grade at United unfortunely. I've some sympathy for him though because I'm not sure he's the player we want him to be. We bought a flair attacking player and attempted to play him in a deep area were he's expected to win the ball in midfield and run the show. He's not that kind of player. We took a chance, and it hasn't payed off.

With Scholes retired and Giggs close to do so, he should be kept at OT. However we may consider sending him on loan.

they are not doing that badly even without Wilshere, I am sure we can cope.

Oh will be fine of course... just the frequency of which our players are getting injured is where I'm drawing the comparison... there is always seemingly at least 2 or 3 players out at least at any given point.

Fergie needs to stop that hurling practice in training I reckon...

Not good news, it's hard to see him getting many more seasons to establish himself, I thought this one might be make or break.

But if he's going to be out that long, and who knows how long after that till he gets another run in the team, there will be a lot of speculation.

Well, this could open up opportunities for people like Pogba and Morrison to get on the bench. I feel bad for the lad because I know there's a very good player in there. He just keeps getting injured and it obviously takes time to get form and fitness back.
