Barcelona - a lot of moaning about them and some praise

What a load of pseudo analytical bullshit in here, anyone that watches football knows Barca are the best team in the world, and no one denies the fantastic talents of Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets etc...Does that disqualify Alves, Busquets, Iniesta, Sanchez and Pedro from being diving, cheating, snivelling little cnuts? no it doesn't.

If people were half as offended as you appear to be by the antics of players then a lot of people should really just stop watching football. Of course it's hypocritical. If any of these players played for the team you support you wouldnt give a shit yet any time any of these players do anything it is a disgrace to football.

Do i agree with it? no but do i see the point in singling out players for hatred when every team in the world and almost every player is guilty of diving at some points, no i don't do that either.

No club is immune from this, United are no exception, i've seen Rooney take some horrific dives, laughable stuff. When Ronaldo was at United he was guilty on more than his fair share of occasions.

In derby matches everything is worse, there is too much passion in the heat of the game, as soon as it boils over everyone is at it and that's always how it is.

I don't remember much untoward behavior against United in the CL final from any of the players mentioned.

Actually Saturdays match was very tame in this regard to some of the disasters last seasons.

Point is anyone saying they wouldnt have any of the players you mention as a disgrace in their own team/squad is deluded.

There are quite a few Barca players I wouldn't have in our squad because of they way they act.

Dani Alves for one, he would definitely improve our right back position but I genuinely couldn't give a shit less. Busquets, Sanchez, Pedro are all players that would improve our squad but ones I never want to see in a United shirt.

I'm not sure offended is the right word or quite how you got that from my post, I was simply describing them as exactly what they are, a disgrace to the sport. As far as how I'd react if they played for United, speak for yourself, I used to cringe at some of the antics of Ronaldo and some of the dives Nani used to do, not to mention Evra and his rolling around and big mouth. I credit what they bring the club but it doesn't prevent me from saying when I think they are acting in a way unbecoming United.

I wouldn't want Alves, Busquets or Pedro here and I am not sure Iniesta is even suited to our league. I'd obviously take Messi but note I never said anything about him, he's one of their players who tries to stay on his feet and plays fair. Sanchez is only newly tainted so he can still be saved. ;)

Sanchez is born in South America and came to Barcelona from Serie A. Don't think it's recent.

That is absolutely bollocks that.

Nani's behaviour at times is despicable, Rooney has a comedy dive in him, Ashley Young is one of the biggest divers in the league and Evra can be a bit of a tit too.
Ronaldo was no better, Barca players may up the anti when they face Real in terms of being despicable but most of the time, they're no better or worse than some of our players.

 Jesus Christ, what is it with some of our fans and Barcelona, it's just absolutely ridiculous.

That's so out of context. With United you are trying to count players who've been guilty of this the last years. With Barcelona you try and pick a player who hasn't done this in the last 3 games. It's not comparable.
Liverpool has Suarez and Gerrard and a few others go down easy or due to nothing from time to time but the team isn't a bunch of divers. It's so totally different from what you are saying.

I wouldn't say Xavi is a diver. He goes down easy sometime but most of the times it's a rightful free kick. Abidal isn't prone to diving. Messi gets kicked a hell of a lot but most of the times he's alright. The rest use every trick in the book. And that's the way with most teams in the league. Same thing from Atl. Madrid, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Villarreal etc.

It's no wonder people generally dislike these players. They're watched every week and in our North and Western European culture blatant hypocrites are loathed. Are politicians generally favored in the community? Are they popular? No. What about pundits?

There are different kind of levels to this as well. The worst are the serial cases like Busquets and Alves and the lot. Not only do they dive at no contact but they also fake injuries a lot. They do all the worst. They go as far as have stretchers brought on the pitch.
Suarez throws himself down every game in an aerial battle at the slightest touch and yells at the ref for not falling for his antics.

Then we have the Iniestas. He doesn't mouth off or feign injuries but he often dives and goes down easy. But he doesn't make a meal out of it or wastes time.

Then we have the Rooneys. They have bad tempers, sometimes foul maliciously and have been known to dive. The dives are not as common as the arguing with officials.

Then we have the Ronaldo and Messis. Used to dive a lot, have cut a lot of it out. Now they pretty much only do it after have been kicked around a lot without getting any free kicks.

These are examples of how different players can be. Obviously the first ones are way worse than the 2nd ones. The Rooney category is more common in England and they are generally disliked by opposition fans.

You seriously don't see the difference in what you are saying? How many players like Suarez are there in the PL? Very few. There are probably more in one Spanish team than in the league. And I don't care about the culture of the league. Eiður Guðjohnsen played for Barcelona. He didn't act like that.

 Jesus Christ, what is it with some of our fans and Barcelona, it's just absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not even sure why you bolded that line to make your attempt at a grand statement. I genuinely do wonder if Iniesta would fit into the Prem, I know Silva has but I'd still have to wonder if at 27 Iniesta could adapt. If you didn't wonder that I'd consider you a Barca wanking fanboy muppet, but I'm sure you're not. :)

You can't tell me that it's bollocks, its my personal opinion which you happen to disagree with.

Yes we have players who are capable of the odd dive or protest, but it isn't an every game thing. I genuinely would never want Dani Alves or Busquets near Manchester United no matter how much they'd improve us. Ronaldo was bad when he was here, but I was also embarrassed by the way he acted and openly admitted that to people when talking about him.

This thread is so bitter. Best team in the history of football probably and all some can talk about is this..

Just another version of a "Why I hate Manchester United" thread made by a bitter English fan, who tries to pretend that he has other "logical" reasons for hating United other than his bitterness and jealousy because of their success..

It's obviously made because of two CL losses. That's why Barcelona's name is there and not some other team. United have been personally affected by their antics.

Try looking in the Suarez or Charlie Adam thread.

Oh Dany boy. Thank God we have your kind around to correct us who are jealous and bitter. Another Tom Robbins who want to enlightened the world.

I don't know how stating that Barcelona have loads of divers(same with Madrid) means that people here are jealous. Everybody rightly says that they're the best team in the world and play the best football in the world, but why does that mean they can't be criticized.

Can anyone who saw the Champions League SF last season between Madrid and Barcelona seriously deny that both of the teams contains many diving players?

There's no denying that each Clasico is packed with embarrassing nonsense from both teams. Sanchez made a total tit of himself the other night and Di Maria was just as bad.

However, the absence of a 26 page thread on why "Madrid are a disgusting football team" speaks volumes.

that is just a load of non-sense. people just keep repeating that. yes, he did seem to roll a lot on the floor, but it isn't usually followed by wanting the other player to be carded (other than of course the Carragher episode). He goes down on contact, but he stays up too. His name keeps being dragged into these conversations, but there is hardly anything he did wrong (other than the Spurs goal in the last two seasons).

Just because you want to come across as being neutral and non-bitter stop exaggerating things against players of the club you claim to support.

Barcelona FC is disgusting. They are owned by fans and not by some tycoon who knows as much about football as Rooney knows about nuclear science. They have a fantastic youth academy were kids have to actually do something good for the side before being labelled the next this or that and the money they generate actually goes to the benefit of the team rather than paying the debt generated by the owners. I really hate them

This is a fair point, but - and I may be speaking the obvious here - rather than the specific targeting of Barca being due to our CL final defeats to them, I think the reason is more simply from the fact that Barca are heralded as one of the best teams in the world, that they can do no wrong, and are almost universally loved by the pundits, papers, and not to mention Blatter and Platini.

As united fans we should be all too familiar with the concept of having special treatment (in a negative sense) due to our success. Hell, the FA virtually said as much last season with the whole Rooney swearing incident.

Iniesta would dick everyone in the PL.

Yet another dig at the team you supposedly support. As I said the other day, why bother even pretending to 'support' United? Every post of yours has a cheap shot at us and it's fecking annoying.

He's a dickhead. Heaven knows, how is he still posting here despite being like this for years.

I love United but Barca's model is the best football's model there is at the moment. The club is lead by the people who love it, their youth academy is amazing and the money is reinvested in the club and not in some business man's pockets. I can't hate what I admire. BTW I wasn't pointing my finger to United in particular. There are many clubs like that.

Its seems that there is someone somewhere who believe in freedom of speech. Cursed them.

It's not a surprise to see you agree with Devilish.

Officer Top Red on patrol.

Hey, how's it that you see fit to police peoples opinions but almost every post you make chastising someone for not supporting United the right way starts with you making some sort of personal insult.

Whether I agree or disagree with Devilish is irrelevant. What I find obnoxious is you feel it's your place to call him names for voicing his opinion.

i've said it before but its precisely because they're so good that the antics annoy me so much. Barcelona could beat the majority of the worlds teams with 8 men ffs why do they feel the need to seek out an unfair advantage all the time? they dont need to dive, they dont need to play act, they dont need to wave imaginary cards around all game. so why do it?

its such a terrible reflection of the current state of the game that a team as good as any ever assembled is also one of the biggest exponents of such blatant gamesmanship. their football is the perfect technical example of the way the game should be played, sadly their behaviour sullys it IMHO

i dont feel bitter about them at all, more frustration at the state of the game as a whole

Best phrase in the whole thread.

So... It's not down to bitterness and jealousy because of Barcelona's success?? Hmmm..

So how long do you all figure they are going to be on top? 5-7 years more?

Hard to say really. Some football clubs strike it lucky in terms of not only spotting players at an early age, but bringing them through their ranks to become world class footballers. Obviously Messi is a perfect example of this. Barcelona seem to have a few of these types, and then obviously they have purchased players that have come in and gelled. Both the former and latter are skills that don't go away over night. I'd imagine Barcelona definitely have another 5 - 7 years in them. They play football like nobody else.

It’s hardly a laughable opinion. I would say best team in my life time as I cannot judge before then

What is the best side in your life time?

Fergie also said that it was the best team in his life time, didn't he?

He's a dickhead. Heaven knows, how is he still posting here despite being like this for years.

I don’t get the hate for Barcelona either. I think it is their success that is responsible for many people hating them.

I see a lot of comments like this from you.

You must have a very high opinion of yourself.

One that hasn't managed to retain the Champions League yet...

 Because if you don't win the CL twice in a row then winning:
1- The World Cup
2- The World Club Cup
3- The Euro Cup
4- The UEFA Champions League (twice)
5- The League title (three times)
6- And A few other cups and supercups
in four years count for nothing, because we see that everyday.. (let alone a few other achievements like the sextuple, their goal scoring records, some astonishing results hitting Europe's best teams for fours and fives and sixes, and the list goes on...)

I'm sure you have like 25 teams in mind that have done this.. Care to share one?
