Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

I'm still laughing at the utter meltdown of all things Liverpool!

This is a great day for a laugh, but more importantly it does show that people will stand up to racism in this country. The stigma of this will hang over the scousers heads for a long time, and they only have themselves to blame.

Liverpool accusing FA of pre judging the case even though an Independent Commission gave the verdict?

And yet...you can bet that other fans' booing of Suarez will be quieter and less frequent than if, say, Rooney was playing at their grounds after he'd been sent off for England previously. If any club might be justifiably obsessed with perceived unfairness, it's United, not Liverpool.

the FA has acted correctly...and if LFC is stupid enough to appeal this...after accusing the FA  its going to be even funnier.

I expect the FA to fine LFC in any case.

That statement from Liverpool is absolutely appalling. I normally try and be open minded and not biased to much, but that... is horrendous. I can't believe it.

Sounds like it was written by a sulky 12 year old fan.

Liverpool FC threaten to take Suarez racism case to Star Wars Supreme Court.

Liverpool've been ill advised. They should've asked Suarez to clear the air with Evra, and admit publically he used the term and that he was displeased with himself for losing control in the heat of the moment. They've basically screwed this up good and proper...and consquently made themselves look like an amatuer organisation. But yeah...the fact that the commision found him guilty should lead everyone to believe the evidence was compelling....however, I suspect had he been from this country...the punishment would've been harsher.

Liverpool have managed to embarrass themselves further, this from Soccernet

Liverpool hit back after Suarez ban

Liverpool have angrily responded to the news that Luis Suarez has been banned for eight matches and fined £40,000 for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

The club released a statement released on their official website - which was removed 30 minutes later - they would take every step possible to fight the punishment and also called on the FA to charge Evra for the abuse levelled at Suarez.

Suarez also tweeted: "Today is a very difficult and painful day for me and my family"

The club statement read: "We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

"We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

"The Club takes extremely seriously the fight against all forms of discrimination and has a long and successful track record in work relating to anti-racist activity and social inclusion. We remain committed to this ideal and equality for all, irrespective of a person's background.

"LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

"It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

"Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black. He has been personally involved since the 2010 World Cup in a charitable project which uses sport to encourage solidarity amongst people of different backgrounds with the central theme that the colour of a person's skin does not matter; they can all play together as a team.

"He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends.

"It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised.

"It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

"We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult."

I hope that we ourselves do not come out and make a counter statement. Sometimes silence is the best option, and I think that it applies in this case. Remain professional, integral and let the appropriate authorities deal with it, even if they are often incompetent.

Can understand #LFC putting out statement if they believe Suarez is innocent. Fair enough. But *that* statement? Dearie me . .

SAF is a clever man.

Why distract.

Liverpool are drowing in their own pot of shit they helped stir.

To change track for a moment, firstly Im delighted for Patrice Evra. He will rightly be enjoying a huge sense of vindication at this verdict. As he said, the racist from Liverpool (which is how I will refer to that cnut from now on) did not use the offensive term once but about 10 times .... hardly just a 'nice jibe'. Good on you patrice for sticking by your guns, standing up for yourself despite huge risk and mental pressure and seeing this episode through.

I'm also deslighted at the way Manchester United has condcucted itself through the entire affair, including again Evra. Once the FA published how it was to get to the bottom of this, I dont think I heard the club or player make one mention of this entire affair. And I hope SAF and the club also make no responses att all to the justice that has been meted out.

Last, but perhaps most importantly, its a landmark ruling which is a great day for English football and British society. They are much maligned, but the FA deserve every credit; for once they set about this matter in the most professional and impartial way possible and then having gotten to a conclusion and have been swift and indicative about how seriously they view this matter. Im hoping this ruling will reverberate around the country/world ... all the way down to knock about 5 aside games in the park. The UK is just too far down the road of multiculturalism for this sort of thing, its just so fecking primitive.

I think Liverpool have just killed Suarez's only chance of appeal. I really was expecting an, "I'm sorry, I didn't realise it was so offensive - in my country it wouldn't be - I'll go on a cultural sensitivity course," sort of defence.

But no. No, "he's learned his lesson", pleading, just a blanket accusation levelled at Evra and the FA. Absolutely shameful, or shameless.

What's this about Evra played the racism card a number of times before?

My Scouse mates keeps arguing this?

If Liverpool really want to prove they are not an institution which is favourable to racism, they will now punish him as well

good post mate.

Really thought they would act better in this, horrible club.

This outcome was inevitable from the minute Kenny Dalglish asked for Evra to be held accountable for his accusations. Agree though, with their great history and tradition Liverpool were previously a club I had much more respect for than either of the oil clubs. Dalglish has disappointed me the most though, I thought he and Fergie were on good terms.

Sadly, in the public eye, he will be deemed as a cry baby.

United have played the case in a very sensible way.

My Scouse mates keeps arguing this?

It's a reference to the Chelsea incident and one other before that(honestly can't remember the opposition), when other people reported alleged racial abuse on Evra, which all happened before the one with Suarez. Phelan reported the Chelsea incidient, not sure on the other one. Media and Liverpool reports on this have misinterpreted these events as Evra wrongly accusing others of racism and/or racial abuse.

It's been one of the frequent mistakes concerning Evra since the start of the whole incident

Bloke on Liverpool's website created some rumours...all proven to be bollocks, yet LFC seem to keep peddling them. Makes them look cheap. Class eh? Evra can sue. I think he should.

Great to see the media also reacting like any other sane person. Liverpool have just provided enough copy for this to now run for ages and ages. Not only has Suarez been rightly condemned, the whole club will be.

Cant wait for the next few days of press as more details emerge and Liverpool dig themselves deeper and deeper into this mess and make even more enemies within the world of football than they already had this morning.

Seriously, they could end up alienating themselves from the rest of the Premiership if they don't sort their act our RIGHT NOW. Never ever speak when emotions are running high .... why could they have not sleep on the matter and released the response tomorrow.

Compare how we dealt with Cantona post kung fu and this. What a bunch of fecking idiots.

No, only by racists and folk still living in the 70s. Societies evolve...the people who think like that(re cry babies comment) are stuck in the past.

Do you think he's a cry baby?
