Cleverley, Anderson boost for United
The Manchester United midfield duo of Tom Cleverley and Anderson are likely to return to action for Sunday's clash against West Bromwich Albion.
Cleverley has been training this week after recovering from an ankle knock sustained in the 2-1 home defeat against Ajax over a fortnight ago.
Anderson came off the bench to play over 30 minutes in United's 3-2 loss to Athletic Bilbao to Thursday's Europa League encounter. The Brazilian had not featured for United since the FA Cup victory at Manchester City in January.
"I think Tom will be involved," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told MUTV's Countdown to Kick-off.
"Obviously the problem when you have players out for such a long time is when you can get them back into the fray.
"For instance, Ando played for half an hour and it was a good half-hour for him as he'd not played for two months."
Meanwhile, United defender Chris Smalling could struggle to be fit in time for Sunday's game against the Baggies after opening up a head wound on Thursday.
"We'll have to look at that issue and see what the problem is," Ferguson said.
"I imagine he'll be doubtful for Sunday but I think everyone else is okay."
Smalling was substituted during the defeat to Athletic after aggravating the head injury sustained on international duty for England against Holland.
On Thursday, Ferguson admitted United's slack European performances this season have forced him to reassess how to approach games at Old Trafford.
