Travelling squad
De Gea, Amos
Rafael, Fabio, Ferdinand, Smalling, Evans, Evra
Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Cleverley, Pogba, Park, Valencia, Young
Rooney, Welbeck, Berbatov, Hernandez

No Nani, Owen, Anderson and Jones.

Because they arehmoving outeof San Mames at thehend of the year, away goals don't count.

2-0 would do it it would make it 4-3 to united.

Well there was some confusion on the other page.
People saying 'feck this comp, let's focus on the league' were united we should be able to handle both competitions. I hope he picks a good team (unlike last time) and we go all out to win.

That squad Fergie has chosen to travel sounds to me he's going for it. I hope it doesn't backfire when it comes to Sunday which will be a much more important game

Qualification tonight will only add to the legend of United...It's these occasions that, as a fan, you hope to see players rise to the occasion and forge glorious moments in their team's history...It may only be Europa League but I have no doubt that it's going to be a magnificent atmosphere

Got this pm

Bilbao are onto us :nervous:

Strong traveling squad. Hopefully Val comes off the bench and gets some minutes.

 We're fecked...we've been infiltrated!!!! We must defend the CAF!!!

They quoted this post of mine. Bastards.

In reply to that post, I think he actually meant it was the thusday game we were struggling with rather than the Sunday.

If we are taking this seriously, than I'm expecting something like this(If Valencia and Cleverley are fit enough to start the game):

------------ De Gea -----------
Rafael --- Evans --- Rio --- Evra
------- Carrick -- Cleverley ----
Valencia --- Rooney ----- Young
---------- Welbeck ------------

This team can beat Bilbao, but I doubt we'll play our strongest XI. I hope we win this, but I don't think we will, especially if we are going to mix first XI again.

Didn't think we'd risk Giggs and Scholes for a game like this.

racist.

How do you mean?

Fergie: 'We are finding it maybe difficult to marry the games Thursday and Sundays."

I took that as an admission that we can't really play our best team on a Thursday and Sunday, hence why I think we haven't played full strength in the Europa League.

I cant believe some of the comments on here , we have a chance of winning a comp that we may never play in again, is that not motivation enough.
We would of been playing European football during the week any way.

I also think that anything but our strongest available team would be a massive insult to Bilbao.

I never want to see United lose and think we should give it our best shot , if we lose we lose , but go down fighting.

It came after the Ajax loss IIRC, what I think he meant is that the change in routine was affecting their Thursday game. If you think:

Tuesday or Wednesday Saturday/Sunday=
Travel/Rest (Depending On Home/Away) on Monday or Tuesday, Play Tuesday or Wednesday, Travel/Rest (Depending on Home/Away) Wednesday or Thursday, Train Thursday and/or Friday and/or Saturday and Play on Saturday or Sunday and Rinse/Repeat.

With the Sunday/Thursday Schedule you have:
Rest Monday, Train Tuesday/Wednesday, Travel/Train Wednesday (Depending on Home/Away) Rest/Travel Friday, Rest/Train Saturday. Rinse Repeat.

Sounds a bit () complicated when I put it like that but basically if you look at the available days to train and rest it's actually a very different schedule to the Champions League Schedule and harder to be both rested and trained up for the Thursday game following a Sunday Fixture.

16:05 By the way, it was reported last night that both Fernando Llorente and Oscar de Marcos - both of whom scored at Old Trafford - didn't train yesterday and are a doubt for tomorrow.

Well said!

From the travelling squad, i am hoping to see this

De Gea

Rafael--Evans--Smalling--Evra

Park--Cleverley--Giggs--Young

Berbatov--Hernandez

Though i suspect Fergie will put out a much more stronger team, with probably Rio, Carrick and Rooney coming in for Smalling, Cleverley and Berba

--------------DDG---------------

Rafael------Rio---Evans------Fabio

---------Carrick--Scholes---------

Valencia----Cleverley--------Young

------------Rooney---------------

Though I suspect we might see 4-4-2 again.

Athletic are a far better side than Wolves, and to rest players with that match in mind would be hugely disrespectful to Athletic. Fergie has been far too arrogant with this team selections in Europe this season.
