Manchester United vs. Fulham FC

That goal makes a huge difference going into half time, gets that little bit of doubt out their heads so we can settle down early second half and not try and force it.

Evans and Tony V playing well. Welbeck not at his best in the first half.

Everyone had decent games apart from Giggs who was woeful with his passing. He'll still probably come up with an assist or two but his passing has been really poor for some months now.

Evans and Valencia have been really good.

Ended the half better than we started it..
Welbeck has shown some enterprise, but let down by a poor touch and flicks which didn't come off...
Hernandez or Berba for Welbeck sometime in the second..?

And Scholes for Giggs ?

Scholes on for Giggs and Chicha for Wellbeck on 60 mins. End the GD gap with City tonight !!! :wenger:

We are not Real Madrid though as we have different players. What they have to do with the way we play is fecking irrelevant. We always let teams play; I think it's a bit more by design rather than some sort of flaw. And it has nothing to do with Real Madrid. This forum has an unhealthy obsession with comparison to a farily narrow field. rather than judging things on merit. And call anyone else a prick and you'll get a time out.

Others obsessions don't really concern me.

Of course it was relevant. It was a discussion (if you can call it that) about tactics. There's little to nothing to learn and debate if you're just going to take the tactic we employ and say 'we do it because of the players we have'. Noone really learns anything new with logic like that. Anyways, you've put your point across albiet very reluctantly for some odd reason. Moving on.

Giggs just doesn't have that natural sensitivity good CM's have, he's perfectly adept at ball retention but he doesn't mix up his passes as well as Scholes however Scholes has about 10 years more experience in that area of the pitch.

Very dominant opening 10 minutes which looked like it had set the tone for the whole game, but i think we eased off then thinking it was only a matter of time. Fulham came back into the game then, and we seemed to invite them onto us pressing very little. In possession we were trying to force the play too much and we were surrendering cheaply. Came back into it last 10 before the half, got the ball out to Valencia more and he's getting a lot of joy on that side. Youngs been pretty good on the left also.

Welbecks had a half to forget. About as bad as i've seen him play this season. Evans has been great at the back. A couple of superb aerial challenges and has been in the right place a few time.

Giggs giving it away cheaply. Think we've more control of possession when Scholes is in the team, and we could see him yet in about 15 mins time. Welbeck will have 10-15 minutes to sharpen up or else Hernandez/Berbatov will be on.

I think if we get Scholes on for giggs and Hernandez for welbeck we'll get 5 at least, Valencia has been putting in dangerous crosses all game and hernandez would have had 2 by now I think.

Aye, read back here and see what a nervous and fickle bunch of bitches support United.

I can't understand really, there is a significant gap in quality from what I've seen...All United have been missing is the final ball...Comfortable on the ball like they have all day bossing possession, dangerous from the wings and very quick to dispossess any dangers from Fulham's wings...Fulham look impotent and unsure of what to do once in possession for the seemingly few seconds they get the ball back

Sure, these matches can be dangerous if you don't kill it off but United look sharp...Terrific save from De Gea early, lads were ready for tonight...Would like to see more from Wellbeck who should be eating this back line alive...Someone earlier mentioned that the goal would come from the right side and I still think this is true...Valencia & Rafael have had plenty of joy and Riise looks like he can be taken advantage of tonight...Would take Giggs off but otherwise no worries really

Rafael and Val are beginning to look really good down the right flank .. if only Rafael can stay away from the injuries, could be a real special partnership.

Evans has been quality. We aren't really going at them. Created our best openings when we start to drive at their fullbacks.

Hughes and Kelly have been solid, so we really should attack down the right.

I believed Dembele's form in centre midfield was a just a nice patch but he's been really good.

Another one who 'moves on' after a final dig.

Tactics suiting the players available is illogical to you?

Real Madrid may counter attack and may press but that is not relevant without a much broader discussion, like the pace and dynamism of the central midfielders, where we don't compare to them, so it is about the players we have. Telling Giggs, Scholes and Carrick to bomb around harrying is not their game.

My reluctance is because I saw the comparison with Real Madrid irrelevant from the off.

Poor performance, but i see no reason to change it until the 2nd half progresses. I don't think I have ever logged onto the caf at half time where some are not asking for half time subs.

BBC Sport's Nabil Hassan reports: "Wayne Rooney's tap-in just before the break gives Manchester United an undeserved half-time lead over Fulham. United have been subdued with their passing erratic, while Fulham have been full of energy and were unlucky not to have scored on a couple of occasions."

im watching ( i think we all are) a different game

I agree, I wouldn't say it for fear of jinxing (irrational I know) but we have looked like winning this from the off.

I used to blame the media for the melodrama in football. And no I'm not confusing it with passion or excitement.

Why do we have two Monday matches in a row?

Damn we need one for the nerves. We just look so rushed in the final third. Quality lacking, but Valencia looks soo dangerous.

I think Giggs has given the ball away about 4 times in the game. He's subdued since his last hollywood pass went astray, around about the 20th minute. Besides that, he's keeping the ball moving as you'd expect and finding some good spaces.

Can't understand why people would want him subbed.

Sometimes they allow far too much with differing expectations in mind. Not being shit somehow seems to equate to being excellent when you're not a big club.
