Move our best striker (Rooney) central and get width on the left.
Dont care if its 4-4-2 or 4-5-1.
Could take Jones off, or Rafael off and put Jones at RB(if fergie wants to give him the game) or Chico off.
 
The one from Ollson was a top top save, the rest you would expect him to get
 
Giggs on for Jones - and put him in exactly the same role. If nothing else in between 5 or 6 give aways Giggsy will create something.

Hernandez was excellent for the first 5 minutes, since then appears to have left the pitch...
 
Boring first half, and we've controlled the whole game without creating anything but one chance, and Blackburn have had 2 great shots on goal with DDG making an outstanding save just before half time.

Seems we completely lack creativity with Wayne out wide, he is seriously wasted out there. Hernandez offers almost nothing as a lone striker and every attack is going out wide to Valencia. No plan b so far, it's just cross cross cross and it needs to change abit.

It's so frustrating when you dominate the first half and still walk off with nothing to show. We are playing some good stuff but as it stands we're 45 mins closer to Mancini's prediction.

Can't let that happen. Gotta try and hit them hard and fast to ruin their defensive game plan. Force them to come out and we can take this game.

But that's not our main problem.

Our main problem is that there is literally no off the ball movement and huge gaps between midfield and attack.

Not to speak of the painfully slow build up play.

It's one thing to keep the ball but not risking anything at all isn't the answer either.

If tonight shows one thing again it's that Phelan and who else is responsible for our tactics has no clue on how to play with a 5 man midfield.
 
I thought we've been really good, final ball aside. Hernandez looks a bit isolated at times and the ball isn't sticking when it goes up, but that aside hard to quibble. We'll wear them down.
 
We have 3 midfielders. Jones running everywhere. Rooney cutting in. Leaving Blackburn with room wide and ability to bypass our midfield.

Once again we shoot ourselves in our foot.
 
Young on for Jones for me - Blackburn are sitting so deep that we don't need the 3 in midfield to control the game, and Jones isn't adding enough either defensively or creatively. Push Rooney inside, Young on the left, and go 4-4-2
 
Keep it as it is until 60 minutes. If still goalless, Jones for Young. If still goalless after 80, Welbeck for Rafael.
 
Terrible. Lets try using a real formation in the second half and having a left hand side as well as a right. Just hopefully hitting 30 yard passes every time you get the ball on the left isnt going to work.
 
I'd say De Gea's shot-stopping ability outweighs whatever aerial deficiencies he has on set-pieces and crosses. That save on the half-volley! :eek:
 
With all the possession we would have probably been better off with Welbeck. But I think we'll get a goal if we continue on like we started.
 
Although we're not winning I feel we've been a lot better than we were in the first half a week ago against Fulham. By and large we've played with authority and the nerves that were obvious to everyone last Monday aren't there. What we're lacking is the final ball. We're very good at getting to the final third but not through the final third right now. If we dont get it wide to Tony V we show very little invention and actually a sad lack of appetite not to take a long shot if there's little else on. I see us going onto win this 1-0 with a late one as I can't see Blackburn holding out for the full 90 minutes but if we're gonna score I think we need to move the ball more quickly down the right flank so as to allow us to get around the outside of them as we seem a little out of ideas when trying to play through them.
 
Good half. Just need patience. De gea proved he is a top keeper for us. We need to focus on their left side. One goal will kickstart everthing
 
We've totally dominated this game. Chicharito needs to do more though. I think his movement has been poor. We've held the ball for huge periods and really should've made the breakthrough by now. Patience is essential in these circumstances but if we aren't leading by the 60 or 65 minute mark, we are going to have to put another forward on.

Frankly I wouldn't mind seeing our Danny for Hernandez at half time.

So who has more shots on target? De Gea saves us again, twice, at least.

I don't like Rooney on the left, he's coming inside & cutting down our threat from that wing too much.

I didn't see the subs bench, haven't we any wingers? Young? Giggs?

Otherwise, I'd prefer to have Welbeck on for Jones, to give us more penetration & move Rooney behind Chico.
 
Blackburn are not even raising their game. We have been playing with one arm tied behind our back.

Seem to be attempting a miracle pass to Valencia from 40 yards, who then has to wait for numbers to arrive in the box anyway. Bit pointless really, need to pick the right time to get him on the ball. Piss easy to defend against at the moment.

De Gea is incredible. Evra has way too much work to get through on his own, but is doing an admirable job.
 
When you were listening to Fergies team talk in the changing room why didnt you let him know what part of the tactics were horrible?

I don't expect any personnel changes at HT but I feel a change in formation is needed. Jones is completely lost.
 
Blackburn aren't even playing good. They give us plenty of time on the ball but all we do is give it to Valencia and hope one of his crosses goes in off someone's arse.

Wasted 45 min.
 
God damn it I hate this fixture.

They seem to have adopted the Fulham tactics from last week of doing feck all but defending in numbers and then maybe attacking towards the end.

We need a goal sooner rather than later.
