Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

All this talk about a big blow. Were we ever in for him?

Yes I'm sure Fergie was just visiting Lille as vacations. Also all the newspapers in France and England are wrong. It was all a huge smokescreen.

.....When French television station Canal+ mischievously asked whether Hazard prefers red or blue, the question drew a non-committal response from the highly-rated prospect.

"I like both," he replied. "They're both nice colours. I think they both suit me."

The quote yesterday said that he preferred "blue, definitely blue".

There's fabricated quotes everywhere on the net, it's ridiculous.

This response to transfer rejection makes me laugh along with cries of 'close the thread'.

What's even worse is the bitter sarcasm when someone either plays down the transfer or isn't a 100% up to date with the half baked rumours doing the round.

Does anyone actually know for sure where he's going yet?

No they do not. All we know is that City are in for the player, that SAF has expressed an admiration for the player and that the player has indicated on French TV that he is undecided.

Ah I see, so that's why everyone has come to the conclusion that City have signed him.

We are all on a downer after blowing the title and are making judgements from our relatively muted performances in recent transfer markets, contrast that against City's muppet mania of recent seasons and you have a whole lot of negativity.

I agree though, the lad is signing for City. He is using our interest as a negotiating tactic for higher wages :(

I think it got more to do with the fact that fans are disillusioned by what the reasons are for players to chose a club they want to go to.

The main factor is money for most players so people assume Hazard will chose the club that offers him better wages and we all know that that's gonna be City.

We're always outsiders in high profile players like this. Gone are the days when we used to be first choice. We have to accept that, we simply can't compete with Citys financial power. Its all down to the attitude of the player.

Yes they did choose Jones and the rest. Our season is not defined by City being better, our season is defined by how good we are to be able to compete when we are relying on our squad. To take City to the wire without our first 11 is an achievement in itself and shows how strong we are as a team. I don't buy into you saying they are a better team and if that makes me an innocent then I'd rather be that than someone who rights us off as you do.

so the Glazer's chose Jones, Young, DDG?

I think you got a bit sidetracked but thanks for the lecture, "son"

No value and all that..

Chance to play for either of the two big teams. But in one you will earn about twice the wage as the other, while playing in the same competitions.

Must be really difficult for a foreign footballer.

I'm not convinced we are in for him. I'm not even convinced we are after another winger type player. There isn't much proof. The papers are linking us to Hazard because they asked Fergie if he was in Lille to watch Hazard and he said he watched Hazard and other players.

That quote Raoul posted just then is definitely real, but somewhere along the line (probably started off on twitter) the line about him wearing blue was added, inferring that it was from the same interview when it wasn't.

Not one to be a defeatest and understand journo news is never enough to make informed decision, though think we have to believe this lad isn't coming to red half of the city. I am sure SAF already has clear idea of players he wants brought in and will have alternative option to hazard, if indeed lad was ever truelly on our preferred shopping list. Maybe the wily old fox is merely letting shitty believe we are looking to recruit lad, and he is merely using this as means to distract other clubs from our true target Gotze :-)

Goetze signed a new deal in March that Keeps him at Dortmund until 2016

Hazard is coming, Hazard is coming :spunk:

No He's not.

We were never in for him anyway...

 like any cnut off here has any fecking idea who we are and aren't in for.

Such as the days in the mid-90's when Shearer chose the extra wages at Blackburn?

This isn't something new, other clubs have consistently offered higher wages than us, or outbid us on occassions for certain players. City aren't the first.

I don't think Blackburn had the power to do it over and over and over again mind.

Theres a major difference though with City. They can outspend us for every top talent we go in for. Blackburn couldn't. Shearer was a one off and Blackburn lasted a season or two.

City won't go away and have proven they'll spend big every window on players we would normally be in for or at least look at. If a foreign youngster was given the chance of playing for us on 60K or City on 100K, which option would he choose?

Theres simply too big a gap in what City will offer and what we can afford to offer.

I'm so glad to be a United supporter, otherwise this forum would drive me nuts. As it is, it's like riding waves on a surf board. Up, down, up, down. SHARK!

He'dprobably choose City. But then, is having an oil rich club throwing money at everything that walks, and weeding out those just looking for the big bucks from those who actually want to play for us a bad thing?

To be honest, the way Hazard has gone about this whole thing i'm not sure i'd want him here. That video of him picking and choosing his preferred destination from suggestion cards was a tad pathetic. He seems a bit whorish so maybe City suits him best. I'd rather have a lesser name who is committed to the cause than a mercenary looking for the bigger wage.

Some Belgian transfer rumours websites had copied the 'definitely blue' thing from British press yesterday. On one such website, I replied to that saying it was not exactly certain Hazard had said that, because it was apparently being taken from twitter rumours. I was then quoted by someone who claims to have seen the interview himself and said I was right and said this is what Eden Hazard said (in French): "Blue is a nice colour, however red as well." Nothing more was said according to him.

It's back on then. Cocks out!

I think we can establish he hasnt given ANY hints yet; is there any proof he was actually at the etihad on monday? like photographic evidence or whatever?

Anyway, there is a long way too go with this.

If he comes too us then fantastic, if not then well young / valencia / nani are definitely not a bad bunch.

They most certainly are not. So why would we be blowing the budget on a player in that position anyway?

Because he can play in more than just a wide area.

I have a feeling fergie is trying too move to a move fluid 4-2-3-1 formation and copy city anyway.

nani kagawa hazard

rooney

Why couldnt we do that with the players we have? With Welbeck in front of Rooney and two of Nani, Valencia and Young either side of him?

I just want us to buy the player we actually need. The one who can offer us another defensive option other than Carrick.

 what an incredibly pathetic polemic. does he like blue or red or both???

i'm going to start a twitter rumour saying Eden Hazard appears in this video

Dunno if this is good news or him being greedy..

#mcfc increasingly less optimistic about edin hazard today. agent not helping, by the sound of it. long way to go, though..

Well, let's be honest, if City won't pay what he wants then it's unlikely we will.

If he knows cnuts like Tevez are on 250k a week it's reasonable to assume he wants parity....that's if you believe the Tweets

Well City is now fighting the monster they created themselves.

They know they can't continue to pay these over the top wages to every new signing so they are probably going in with more realistic offers.

But honestly if Balotelli is earning 180k p/w it's hard to explain to Hazard why he will only get max 100k p/w.

It's also unrealistic from City to assume they can all of a sudden get the best talents for their real value because I'm fairly certain that being offered the same wages as other top clubs do not many players really would chose City.

The only thing that makes them attractive is the fact that they pay you a lot of cash to play for them.

I really know feck all about him but how does his ability compare to someone like Gotze. The praise I've heard about the latter is unlike any I've heard about any other current young player so, just wondering.

That's what made Chelsea so attractive at one point...that and being in the capital. But making a 100m loss a year didn't appeal to Abramovitch for long.Sooner or later the Sheiks are going to have to be realistic and then the spending will have to be curbed.
