Sunderland vs. Manchester United

Well that's even more dumb. Giggs is a central midfielder. Young is not.

That's a rather simplistic approach. And a dumb one, if I may say so, considering that Young has plenty of experience of playing just behind the main striker. It's not like we're not allowed to play 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1 instead of 4-5-1.

Just saw the QPR lineup.. ouch..
forget that game. time to win ours and get to 89

Some people (like Pogue) just don't really like Nani. He's had a far better season than some numpties on here are claiming. Injuries have been his main problem

Yeah, I mean he has gone off the boil at times, which he does need to work on, but so has everyone. Tbh I think he was hard done by because when he was playing well in the first part of the season pretty much everyone else was playing poorly and so we didn't get to see it as it was overshadowed by the rest of the lacklustre team. It's a shame really, in these last two games, however remote the chance is that we scored enough I don't think we've shown much ambition.

That's my issue, Fergie has put himself in a position where he has to depend on Giggs and Scholes on a weekly basis because he refuses to add some quality central midfield depth while they are still around. The only thing missing is Fletcher returning and Fergie saying that is like a new signing. I'm worried it will be deja vu next season with the same midfielders, Cleverley and Ando on and off to the IR, Fletcher a big question mark and then Fergie is back playing Giggs and Scholes regularly maybe with Park in central midfield the odd game to help out...

It's because of the injuries - Fletcher out, Anderson out, Cleverley out - it's not about not buying.

And Giggs was at times very good this season, but as Pogue said, people only remember the last few matches, where Giggs was indeed quite poor.

All that said, I prefer him in an attacking midfield role - probably what he'll have today. What better way to end the season than for Giggs to score the deciding goal and QPR to have a steal at Al-Quida stadium!

How well did anybody play in that City game?

Oh and the time before that Nani scored and set up two until Fergie decided to play Park in the hole with the slowest ageing midfield in the league against the soon to be champions.

Drop our best player from our last game?

Aye, that's obvious.

Remind me, how well did Nani play the last time he started?

He was our best attacking player, eventough he wasn't even close to his best, it was his 2nd start in 2 months.

According to a couple of websites we are playing 4..2..3..1

Still, let's retain some hope that Sunderland are not City and Scholes' and Giggs' technical abilities might compensate for their lack of energy and stamina. That might just happen.

How can anyone not think Nani is one of our best players and has been this season when he's played?

Some of you lot are mental. Giggs can still do it for us when we need him.

And in that one, Young and Giggs are interchangeable. Still, this team might work against Sunderland... it's just that a lot of us are a bit uncomfortable that we STILL turn to the Giggs-Scholes duo when under pressure. Especially as starting them together proved to be a bad idea more often than not.

If we can somehow get that first goal. You never know.

Such optimism.

Watching the game on tv... Anyone have a stream for the city game???

We need to get an early goal to put some pressure on City....

QPR should just stand on top of each other and make it physically impossible for the ball to go in their net

I'm starting to get the shakes now. This is gonna be a nervy afternoon for us all. Just get those 3 points and leave the rest to fate.

We will be kicking ourselves if we don't do our job here. For the last time this season.

 Cmon United!

Re Nani:

Some people just don't like him - the same probably think Valencia uses his left foot, and that Rooney is an equally good player as Ronaldo.

Rooney lone striker, no nani, Giggs and Scholes starting.

Christ.
