Paul Pogba

Reckon he's off. He and Raiola are both seemingly massive cnuts, but we should have known that coming in considering he left his first club to join Le Havre and then Le Havre to join us.

Hopefully we'll (finally) learn our lesson that we can't let contracts always run down before renewing them. Leaves us absolutely no bargaining chips.

Getting more and more obvious that he's going. Its been roughly a month since SAF said that they had agreed with Raiola and it was now Pogba's choice weather to stay or go. The fact that he still hasn't signed is troublesome.

Wish he'd just do one. Him and Ravel were key reasons for us holding off buying a midfielder and they've both messed up...I don't want to see him play for us...give Tunnicliffe the chances when he's ready.

Destroyed your own argument their haven't you. How about we just buy the players which is what we should have done in the first place.

Not really because Tunnicliffe is nowhere near ready yet...he's probably behind where Ravel and Pogba were at this stage last year.

Wish we'd stop being tight. Gets us nowhere.

So the club should give some 19/20 year old 20k per week just because they should? This isn't a young Fabregas or Ronaldo that has broken into the first team on a regular basis. Let the cnut leave if he thinks he's worth first team wages without the CV to back up such request.

He said when ready.
Pogba and Morrisson were making noises about wanting first team action straight away.

You can't give 19 year old Phil Jones and 20 year old Chris Smalling 40-50k a week and then act surprised when players of the same age and quality coming through the ranks want similar deals. If anything, signing early the way Pogba did saved us several million in transfer fees and we are still balking.

If he's such an obvious first teamer the way Fergie talks about him, why shouldn't he be paid like one?

I still stand by my stance of him being a cnut, but that's based on Raiola agreeing a deal with United regarding his contract then going for more from Juventus and taking him there.

I can't believe that quote from the agent... If it's true, we should tell him any offer is off the table, goodbye!

He isnt a first teamer. He has the potential to be one.
Players get new deals all the time at United. He establishes himself and he will get more money.
Its not like he will be on 10k for 5 years despite being a starter. :s

I have no problem if he leaves because of the money. I dont think he has done anything to deserve anything special yet/

Glazernomics in terms.of renewing contracts when its nearly too late is taking its toll here. shame we are losing such a good midfielder.

It hasn't really been much of a problem when it comes to the senior players. If some kid wants to cause trouble or leave, he'll do it regardless.

Both Jones and Smalling had broken through their respective club's first teams. Pogba should have stayed at Le Havre if he wanted to break into a first team quicker.

If he is as good as we seem to think he is, we should do all that we can do to keep him. If he's not, we should let him go.

Smalling had played all of about 2 games for Fulham when we signed him. Less than Pogba's played for us anyway. Jones was obviously more established, but Pogba would've been playing regularly in a side like Blackburn, as well.

It's more about club policy than this particular instance, it's as if you're punished for being home-grown.

Or for being a greedy cnut. His agent obviously received ridiculous offers from other clubs and advised his client to be a prick.

As for Smalling, it was nine first team appearances including Europa play with multiple clubs inquiring to sign, and his wages are "up to 20,000 per week" which leads me to believe it is incentive laden*. Pogba is demanding (rumored) 20,000 per week base.

As stated before, if Pogba wanted quicker first team action he should have remained at Le Havre or joined Fulham or Leeds or whomever.

*it is the Mirror but there's one mention http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/new-man-united-star-chris-197927

Smalling wasnt on big money. He signed a new contract after his first season after he proved himself.
And his agent didnt want crazy money to get his client to sign a deal.

Pogba hasn't shown anything to suggest he'd be a regular starter in the prem at any club. Do you really think that if right now he was good enough to start in the prem we wouldn't have given him more game time when a. he's clearly factoring that in, in his decision of his future and b. with all the problems we've had?

Cant see him being any closer to the first team here than at Juventus with Scholes and Giggs staying on. They'll offer money so he's as good as gone.

Yes. Smalling's initial contract was rumoured to be around £25k then after a year through good performances it went up to around £50-60k when he signed the new contract.

Which others? Why should we let one of our best young talents in ages leave because we don't want to pay him a mere 20 000 a week?
I'm fairly certain we have made him a decent offer.
If his agent wants 2m and he wants more than we are offering, and he gets it by threatening to leave, whats stopping Smalling, Evans, Jones, Welbeck from demanding 80k.
All full internationals. All first teamers. Age doesnt matter.
There is a wage structure for a reason.

If the demands were reasonable, we wouldve agreed on it by now. Its clearly not something the club thinks is reasonable. If that is the case, then I'd rather see him go than see us bend over for him.

Its still gambling on potential. not THAT much of a loss anyway.

EDIT: all that said, I would be happy if he did agree to stay on. Not that i want him to go.

£20k a week. £30k after 15 league games. 45k after 40 league games. Simples.

The difference is that those players aren't going to get 80k a week. Pogba will get what he wants by moving.

Agree. Its not personal.
If the club thinks its in their interest to pay him what he wants, they will.
If they dont, he goes.

Its not like we cant afford to pay him 20k. or even a 100k. We might not be filthy rich, but it isnt THAT bad.
If he goes, its because the club didnt think it was worth giving in to the demands.

As has been said before many times in this thread, it's one thing, and still a bad thing, when you're best player holds you to ransom, because he and everyone else know he's the best but when you let someone who's barely on the ladder make demands of you and then give in, then it sets a precedent. If he gets x, then why shouldn't some of the lower earning first team players get more as they're actually contributing now. Then the next batch can say that. Or another young player who is equally thought of highly.

I'm not sure if it's being muppet or anti-muppet because it's not a new signing but I really want us to nail him down. He's frickin 7ft 11, built like a shed and technically gifted with a long shot Scholesy would be proud of. He's everything we need just give him what he wants. He's clearly class. "clearly a cock" we've been spoilt by Scholes. Every footballer is a cock, Rooney is the biggest cock of them all and bent us over and pulled our pants down. Just give him what he wants and real the reward when he's 24 and a monster.

Yep. If we keep him, we will win out in the long run. Lose him, and we could lose a possible top quality player and for what, nothing?

Is this all still speculation or has anything official come out yet ?

Still all speculation. Nothing new.
