He refused to talk to Chelsea, Arsenal and Madrid because he wanted to sign for us,what a legend.

All reports coming out about him are so overwhelming positive that I don't give a feck about Hazard. The only thing I found weird about that interview was saying that he isn't the type of player to run at teams. From what I have seen he seems very adept at this. Anyway I took it to mean run at teams as a typical winger would. Id guess his dribbling is more like Silva where he cuts in a lot more

That game was excellent despite the ref attempting to feck it up continually.

As a Kiwi, I know the A-league is terrible, and I'm assuming they use similar Aussie refs here too?

Frankly, they make Ovrebo look routine, no doubt that's what happened here.

Has just fecked up a potentially promising counter-attack but apart from that he's been very good.

This is starting to be a bit of a press cut copy paste by us. It's a bit small time if that's the case. Kinda like City getting their signings saying Manchester is blue.

It's the opinion of Honigstein who knows the ins and outs of German football. Nothing like City forcing players to trot the "Manchester is blue" line upon signing.

When noone else is in for a player we signed he's crap. When it is revealed the reason noone else bid for him is that he was dead set on us, it is a publicity stunt.

You've missed my point. Look at our last few signings, there's either been a leak or a statement saying other clubs were in for them and they chose United. Hernandez could have gone to Madrid, Valencia could have gone to Madrid, Jones could have gone to Arsenal or Liverpool, Young could have gone to Tottenham, Liverpool or Chelsea, Smalling to Arsenal.

Previous to these last couple of years signings I rarely remember hearing where a player "could have signed" after he'd signed for United.

I don't think the club does it purposely. With Jones it was well reported that a ton of clubs bid for him. With Smalling Arsenal bid before us, which was again well reported. Same with Young. In Valencia's case it was that blabbermouth Whelan who talked of Madrid's interest. I don't remember reading anything about Hernandez rejecting Madrid.

In all of these cases the stories about other clubs was widely reported. The club didn't say to the player "tell us which clubs you rejected", the stories were already out there. Again nothing like City's self promotion.

Shinji Kagawa is on his way to Manchester & is expected to complete his medical this week

Shinji Kagawa: “[United] deal is almost completed. I want to challenge with a great determination.”

“United was 1st to officially approach me. Sir Alex's word ‘Trust me. It will be a big challenge.’ impressed me.”

"I took a lot of things into consideration, like the fact that United have got a deep squad & their style of football."

“I feel like I’d be able to gain so much by playing big games on a regular basis, including the UCL. I can’t help but be excited.”

"The more I talked to them, the more I felt Manchester United was the place for me to be."

"When you look at the football scene, it's the best league in the world. You've got the world's biggest clubs like (Manchester) City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea all in the same league which is fascinating"

City aren't one of the world's biggest clubs.

I actually think he'll link up much better with Welbeck.

? I think Welbeck's very good at linking up for a striker, but I don't ever seeing him playing the final pass to another runner. It's more of a lay off, which he executes well... but aside from that Rooney goal, i think it's a bit overstated.
Javier had several more assists; Welbeck only got off the mark in April or May in assists.

Rooney, on the other hand, is true quality. His short passing isn't always switched on 100%, but he makes the passes when they count, and is one of the best passers for a striker around the world. If we play Kagawa, I don't see us playing 2 strikers. If that's the case, I don't want to see Welbeck getting ahead of Rooney, any single day of the year! Neither do i want to see Welbeck shunted off to be a wide forward, at the expense of Nani / Valencia or Young. They are all much better than him as wide players for a match; maybe if we are chasing a game, sure. Chuck Javier on then, too.

I think Kagawa would link up better with Javier than Welbeck however. The thru balls and Javiers runs :drool:

Fergie has used the 'big challenge' line before. Think it was to Ashley Young. He's forcing them to sign by making them scared to pussy out. Well done Frogie.
:lol: Fergie pulling out all the stops :D

I think I've seen someone say that about every attacker in our team and most of the attackers we've been linked with, and it's so senseless.

Kagawa wants central role

Shinji Kagawa is eyeing an attacking midfield role for United once he completes his transfer to Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old usually plays on the left for Japan but believes he is most effective in the advanced central position he has occupied successfully for Borussia Dortmund.

"I want to play [in the hole]," Kagawa told a press conference in Tokyo. "I feel that's where I play my best football. I plan to work hard so I can win my place in the position.

"United are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I have been given a chance to play for them. I took a lot of things into consideration, like the fact that they've got a deep squad, their style of football and it wasn't an easy decision. But I wanted the challenge."

Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid were among the clubs reported to be interested in Kagawa, but the playmaker admits his heart was set on United.

"There were talks with other clubs, but United were the first to make me a formal offer and the more I talked to them, the more I felt Manchester was the place for me," he said.

Kagawa, who will seal his switch once he passes a medical and obtains a work permit, is looking forward to making the step up to the Premier League.

He added: "It's the best league in the world. You've got the world's biggest clubs like [Man] City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea all in the same league, which is fascinating.

"In the Bundesliga, the only games that compare are the ones against Bayern Munich. I feel like I'd be able to gain so much by playing big games on a regular basis, including the Champions League. I can't help but be excited."

That should shut up people. That is the ones who kept pointing out no one was interested and hence he is not that good.

Can't wait to see this guy in a Utd shirt. The recent reports add to how perfect for us he sounds. Him, Rooney, Welbeck and Cleverley would be lovely to see. Hope to see it used sometimes.

Other posters think that too. I think Rooney's reputation of linking up with players has gone down in the Caf's opinion this season but people shouldn't forget all the partnerships he's built at the club.

A lot of people are saying Kagawa will be great for Hernandez (I'm not saying he won't be) but let's not forget how Hernandez was firing with Rooney behind him in the 10/11 season. Then you look at his chemistry with Valencia, Ronaldo when he use to be here, he always links well with Giggs and Scholes etc.

I see Kagawa as another very intelligent player who Rooney will love to play with.

I am ridiculously excited about watching this lad play for us.
