He certainly did. He needs to bump that off him before the season starts.
Make or break time for him now.

It's seriously pissing me off, seeing him report for pre-season looking like that.
It's not what he looks like when he's in shape, and we all know it.
Why is he allowed to turn up for pre-season in that shape? He needs to shed some, and fast.
You'd think the bare minimum requirement for a professional footballer is looking after your body. It's their job and their lives, ffs! Also, I'm not entirely sure his long list of injuries isn't connected to him being too heavy. It takes it's strains on muscles etc.
Rant over.
I have to agree here. These excuses that Fergie would never let an unfit player off with it aren't washing with me. If I was in his position, I'd be doing everything I can to keep fit and be able to succeed. He seems more content with partying and needs to really focus on his football a lot more.
He certainly looked shit. His running was labored, touch was poor and passing was off. Compare that to someone like Petrucci who looked sharp, composed, and ready to make an impression.
I mean, why give yourself that competitive disadvantage going into pre-season? He'll use the couple of weeks the others are using to sharpening their form only to reach a somewhat socially accepted weight.
It just doesn't seem to me, that he's got the right attitude to succeed. It's really annoying, because he's got the talent.
What, in all of your opinions do you think is Andersons' best position/formation?
Its fecking pre season.
So equally good with one and two partners you think?
For Petrucci it is as well, though.

There's nothing wrong with looking off form during pre-season, but to come back looking as fat and out of shape as that, as a professional footballer at the worlds biggest club is absolutely ridiculous.

He looked the exact same shape he always looks
The comments about Anderson's physique always reflect how well he's playing. Poor performance and everyone starts saying he's fat and out of shape. A decent game and people start suggesting he's maybe lost some weight. In reality, I'd say his weight is fairly constant.
Thought he was ok last night. Some good bits, some bad bits. Needs to up his game consierably by the start of the season but meh, he'll take longer than most to get up to speed as he's going into pre-season with zero residual match sharpness/fitness from the season just gone.
Bloody hell the reason he looked sluggish is because he has not played for ages. Petrucci on the other hand has played a lot more recently so it is to be expected that Anderson would be off the pace a bit. As for him being "fat", some people carry their weight differently and not all people have the same body type. He's never going to be Ronaldo ripped but that has nothing to do with fitness. I have a mate who is 18 stone but been practising for an iron man competition and is probably a lot fitter than most people nearly half his weight. Do you really think Ferguson would consider playing him if he was that out of shape or overweight? Of course he wouldn't. I bet Anderson actually has a very low bf percentage but obviously the ignorance of some people makes them believe that Anderson is fat due to his body structure and wearing a loose fitting football shirt
I thought he did fine by the way. His positioning and showing were great which is a big part of pre season.
I don't get the hate at all.
Since we don't have cash, all our expensive players are scrutinized and cursed by most of the caf. Since we spent money on them, they are a waste if they don't perform 10/10 every time. I didn't see Ando yesterday, so I can't comment on the game or him, but that is where the hate for Berba, Ando Nani (earlier) comes from.
Hate for Anderson? If anything he's been let off the hook far too much in the past because he's so likable. He was just as frustrating as Nani back in the day but Nani took all of the flak. It's only really now that people have started to properly get fed up, which is almost justified after 5 seasons where he has constantly looked unfit, out of shape and at times, been reported to love a bit of partying.
After 2 years Nani and Berbatov were getting far more stick than Anderson is getting after 5 years.
Have a read back through this thread. Both Nani and Anderson had an inconsistent season with the main difference being Anderson being injured for most of it. Despite this, Anderson has got dog's abuse from the vast majority of people who post in this thread for the whole of the summer so far.
Conversely, the merest hint of criticism of Nani gets his fan-club out in force, shouting down any dissenting opinions.
Obviously Nani - unlike Anderson - has at least one long stint of consistently very good performances under his belt. Which has earned him a lot of patience. Nonetheless, you're kidding yourself if you think Anderson is somehow avoiding the criticism his performances deserve. The consensus has tipped too far in the opposite direction, if anything.
You brought up Nani, not me. Berbatov has his own fan club but there's fewer and fewer of them about these days. As I said, Nani has earned a bit of patience by consistently hitting levels of performance we haven't seen from Anderson. The bit in your post I disagree with was that he was somehow getting criticism that Anderson avoided. The only reason people took so long to turn on Anderson was because he had an impressive debut season. That meant people were slow to turn on him when his performance levels dropped. The same reason, presumably, that caftards like you are so vigorous in your defence of Nani after a less than impressive season.

The "fan club nonsense" was to highlight your own inconsistencies in any discussions about the two players.
Nani still had a pretty decent season, he was mostly good up until he got injured. The injury effectively put an end to his season, to the point that we ended up starting Park against City. Anderson's short spell in the team last year was definitely a lower level than Nani's season comparatively and the season before Nani was one of our stand out performers. I think you're beig far too harsh on Nani.
ok Pogue, whatever you say.
Because you're not in anyway biased against Nani, of course.
