Totally muppet behavior this but I think United should blow this summer's and next summer's transfer budget and get this guy.

He was absolutely awesome this afternoon. The new Ronaldinho for sure!

Lots of good performers for Brazil but this guy was head & shoulders better than others.

Rather use 40 odd million on him than on RVP and Lucas and perhaps even Baines.

He's full of flair which leads to excessive hype. He's obvIously good, but a greedy bastard and some of his decision making was awful.

Him not wanting to leave Santos may just be a problem with this. Also, he wasn't the most impressive Brazilian today.

Well if we have 30m to spend on Lucas, why not use it on Neymar? Although it does seem like there is alot of talk that he is moving to one of the Spanish clubs at the end of this season.

Nonetheless, I don't think there would be a more suitable person to wear our No.7 shirt than this kid. The partnership between him and Rooney would be electrifying. It would bring the type of excitement that we haven't had since Ronaldo left.

Would never happen.

He'd be clearly world class in future. He is just twenty and has made neelu ninety appearances inauguration Brazilian League which has improved quite by a bit. He is going to Barcelona though, it'll be a little mouth watering to see him along Messi.

Pretty certain the circus will be coming to Barcelona soon

It's a done deal for a long time now. Him dumping his agent who wanted to whore him to Real Madrid, his constant "Messi is the best, I'm nowhere near as good and no one comes close" and "Barcelona is the best team in the world" praises, Santos' coach who publicly dismisses Mourinho's style of football, Real Madrid showing interest in Lucas instead, Barcelona's vice president stating this yesterday:

"We would all like for Neymar to join us after the Olympic games."

It couldn't be more obvious. As if Rosell would ever miss out on the next big thing from Brazil. Question is "when", not "if".

I'm sure Barca are ahead in the cue, but I would absolutely love for us to sign him. Would probably be upwards of 40m, but he's phenomenal and still a youngster.

Chelsea look to have done great business getting Oscar mind...relatively cheap too

Looked fantastic against an underaged team from Belarus. But I think most teams would have failed to hold Neymar back today.

Will be interesting to see if he keeps up this type of performance throughout the tournament. Having said that, I think the standard of football in the Copa Liberatadores is a step above the Olympics. So there really is no reason why he shouldn't dominate the way he does in Brazil. Very enjoyable player to watch and as most have pointed out, a polarising type of player who many will either love or hate.

He's got pace and skills but he's a far from great footballer.

Aged 20, it'd be utterly ridiculous if was one. Easily the best young talent atm and will be a fantastic player if he focuses on the right things.

Barca bound though so no point discussing it.

Reminds me of George Best, the balance and the way he simply glides past opponents.

If Fergie was watching he should ditch the bid for Lucas amd use the money on Neymar.

Dont get why people keep saying this. He'l cost a lot more. He is the biggest young talent out there. Simply put, there's no way can we afford him.

Almost reminds me of another youngster we used to have. Think he turned out to be pretty good ...

... or he could be a Ronaldo Mk II. I'm not sure why you feel the need to arbitrarily dismiss players all the time.
We've been here before...

After a blinding first few games, he had a slight dip in form for Madrid. Inevitably, this saw the anti-latin/ stepover brigade on here to conclude that he was shit, and of course, miles behind Rooney. However, he appears to be finding his feet again and is in dazzling form at the moment, definetly the best young player on current form i'd say.

Hello Tim Vickery.....

One of only four players to have scored 100 goals for their first club by the time they were 20.

The others were:

Pele
Maradona
Fat Ronaldo

Would you say that proves he's destined for greatness? It took Ronaldo until he was 29 before he scored over 100 goals for any one club, for what it's worth, but he did score over 100 goals at club level before he turned 20.

Football players are individuals, and they don't follow particular archetypes. There are plenty of examples either side of the line (Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, vs Robinho and Denilson) to suggest that he could just as well become utterly brilliant. Leading the line and performing for Brazil (not just at these Olympics, of course) is hardly evidence to doubt the man yet, hype or no hype.

And I don't doubt that he'll be remembered along with them in the history books.

Madly gifted player. I would love him, but no chance.

He displays many of the same traits as Robinho, particularly a lack of footballerliness, that's why I'd suggest he'll end up at the same level. I could be wrong but more times I'm right.

LOL - the caf just went into muppet overdrive
