Anderson

What are the quality attributes he has?

Since he lost that burst of pace, I see little to be honest.

Vision, strength on the ball, decent pace, drive/a willigness to move foward and a good level of skill on the ball. Going by before his injury last year and his pre season this year, it looks like he's improving on his tendency to hit the Hollywood ball too, not to mention that is goalscoring seems to be improving also.

There's definitely a quality player in Anderson, it's just that he needs a more consistent set of circumstances in order to knit his game together. Not sure what will happen with him, but there's a chance if his injury record improves.

Let's just hope Ando stays fit and disciplined, that's the bare minimum i ask of him. If he can do that, the rest of his game will come naturally. I remembered Nani's game just naturally came on during the fine month of January in 2009 and he just kicked on from there. What a transformation

That was so weird. He randomly had one unbelievable performance against Hull, and within a month or two of that he was widely seen as one of our best players. Cracking performances against Arsenal and Bayern that season.

You class 24 as old? :wenger:

He can still have potentially another 10 years of football in him, thats plenty enough.

I know over at arsenal your used to them even younger, but here 20's is a reasonable age.

They Arsenal ones are usually thinking about moving to better things around that age.

I know when the juggernaut Yaya Toure starts to run he's quick. There isn't another premier league CM who I can say has impressed me like him when he's running with the ball

Since I can't find a list of 'fastest' CM's in the PL, it's certainly arguable even if it is incorrect.

No, it's not true, and you don't need a list of the fastest CM's to say that. It's like me saying that Terry is the fastest player in the Premier League and expecting the opinion to be valid when it's not true and his pace is on par with a snail, no offence intended to any snails out there.

So, who is faster then? Watch his sprints against Liverpool and another one that I can't remember. Toure has great top speed, but lacks a bit acceleration...

Instead of saying that haha, no he's not - say who is faster. Ferguson said that Anderson had blistering pace with electric acceleration - I think he knows what he speaks of.

Toure is a perfect example of someone who is faster. I don't particularly need to argue that Anderson isn't the fastest in the league though when it's quite clear that he's not. It's a simple fact really.

Of course Fergie is going to say that. He's hardly going to say, Anderson is a frustrating player with average pace who may be out the door this season unless he performs.

Toure might have greater top speed, but certainly not acceleration. Anderson is really, really fast actually. Ferguson doesn't talk about Carrick's pace, nor even Cleverley's - so not sure what you are on about. He even said that Ferdinand had lost pace, which got people in a frenzy in here (as he's still not slow, but people talk about him as if he is Terryesque)

Jaysus, cheesy, why are you always so wrong about everything?

Anderson has lots of flaws but he's clearly not got "average" pace. He's one of the quickest CMs in the league. Ramires is quicker. Toure probably beats him over 50m but not over 10m. After that I'm struggling to think of anyone else.

You're so wrong it's funny. Well done.

Yeah odd comment ando is undeniably quick when fit. His best asset is his ability to carry the ball on the break. Always been an excellent player to have in open games for that reason. It's the more tight games where there's less space to exploit that he struggles.

Ah, forgot Ramires who is ridiculously fast actually (but even he was outpaced by Walker!!)

Completely agree with your post!

I actually thought he was one of the few good things to take from the match. He was about the only player who had a bit of purpose and drive when he came on.

Everyone else's idea of creating something seemed to be to just give Evra and Young the ball and then hope they wouldn't suck. They did.

when there's 7 mins left, what is the point putting him on instead of another striker even if that striker is berbatov?

Mind boggling sub IMO.

Didn't notice this... shopped?

Actually agree with you here. I'm far from Anderson's biggest fan but he at least had some movement and a bit more drive than Cleverley and Scholes who were anonymous for most of the game.

Should have come on a lot earlier. We needed someone to drive at them rather than simply retain possession. Even his shot was a decent effort.

Anonymous? Really? You could argue their passing was a bit conservative or predictable, but they probably had more of the ball than anyone else on the pitch.

Did look lively when he came on.

Anderson playing as the Anderson we've always felt he had the potential to be could be just the ingredient we were missing tonight.

We live in hope!

Yeah, fans sitting in the corners will be pleased if his shooting continues like that :p

We could do with Anderson making it. For the first time, I actually properly grasped tonight what people are saying about needing some strength in midfield.

Still, I suppose we're not going to come up against a player like Fellaini every week.

I thought he looked pretty positive when he came on although I suppose there wasn't any other way to be at that stage!

I imagine he'll be scrapping it out with Cleverley for playing time with Carrick and Kagawa for most of the season... hopefully they can get injured at different times.
