Berbatov | Fulham player

In Italian clubs yes but they were not that great in last years. Bayern is a possibility while I don't think that City's game would have suited him better. Valencia is not a great club.

They were quite good in 2007/08, and that's mainly the period we're talking about.

I thought we were talking for GREAT clubs. Quite good is not great. Pretty much they were equivalent of today's Tottenham but in a less competitive league.

Edit: He was transferred to us in 2008 and at that time Valencia had a superior striker.

Yeah, because you only need one striker at the club. I think he would have clicked with Villa but that's my opinion.

Discusing this is very pointless and I am sure that they had other strikers.

Anyway Valencia neither had the finances, nor the interest to sign him. There were only 2 interested clubs (and who could afford him). Us and City. He choose the better club, not the money and I think that he made the right decision though IMO at that time we didn't need him and we could have splashed that money better.

Well, FlawlessThaw raised the issue so I responded, simples. In a strict sense everything that's being discussed here is a bit pointless now.

Saying that he could have been better at a club which was about the same level as Tottenham, who had a much better player in his position, who didn't show interest and who couldn't have afforded him is really pointless to discuss.

for 5 million you would of expected ac or juve to be interested in him, not nicholas bentner :wenger:

Then why are you dragging it further? I didn't discuss it, just said what I thought.

If Berbatov had moved to City he would have been cast off long ago in my view. He made the right call there.

I hope he goes to Juventus, as they can offer him champions league football, and they have the pedigree. He deserves as much.

Shame it didn't work out for him. Always spoke fondly of the club, and seemed to love playing for MUFC.

Good bye Silky man and thanks for the memories, especially the hat-trick vs the scouse

Let's all laugh at Fiorentina, they paid his flight to Florence, now Berbatov is parked in a hotel in Munich waiting the development with Juve

Fiorentina are furious

It was always going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if more than just Juve come in for him. Everyone was hiding their time trying to get him quietly and as soon as one showed their cards the others were always going to twist.

Is this true?

I'd be much happier if we went to Juve.

Such a classy player, pity it didnt work out here.

Juve want him but haven't agreed a fee with United yet. Fulham's and Fiorentina's bids are accepted.

He suits Italy perfectly though.

Imagine Berbatov walking the streets of Florence - A tall, dark, handsome man with stylish sunglasses on, cigarette in one hand, bag of perfectly ripe tomatoes in the other gliding effortlessly through the narrow, cobbled streets.

I was told that Berba's agent admitted in an interview that Fulham want him as well but Berbatov prefers to go to Italy and hopes that Juve and United will reach agreement.

If the 4mil bid is true, Juve are crazy not to pay it. Will never get a better player even for double the cost.

Thats how I feel and certainly would have done better in the final too

why in the final when he never really performed in CL for united at any stage?
with barca's back 4 pushed up to midf and beyond how would berba change anything?

Again it'll come down to the wages.

If he goes to Juventus it'll be interesting to see if he's one of the first choice strikers. Good to see the top clubs in Serie A were actually paying attention.

I hope the Juve move works out. Berbatov is a pedigree footballer who should only be at pedigree clubs. I think the Italian game will suit him much more than PL football, given the slighly more elegant pace and style of play that Italian Serie A is.

Blagoevgrad, CSKA Sofia, Leverkusen, Tottenham, Manchester United, Juventus ... its a very good CV which he could look back on in pride if he can do well at Juventus, if the move goes through.

This is in reply to MU77 for some reason I can't quote you

to be honest anyone would have been an upgrade on Hernandez in that game, he was awful.

Prior to the game they asked Pep how they would deal with Hernandez he said he'll be offside, he was.

The ball didn't stick with him up top, at least with Berbatov you could play the ball to him he would be able to hold onto it long enough to attempt to mount an attack

It really would be typical if this bites us if we meet them in the CL.

Him and Pogba run riot againt Utd. I can see it now

Fiorentina didn't want to sell Jovetic to Juve, now they are trying to steal Berbatov.
Fiorentina are looking for Bendtner in this moment.

If they do, fair play to both of them. Even Pogba ... if we had wanted him we should have done the deal.

maybe. but all water under the bridge. he really had a crap CL scoring rate. and hernandez was hot at the time. and the way barca dominated midf i doubt anyone would have made a difference up top
