Southampton vs. Manchester United

We've been very mediocre. Southampton passing the ball around much better than us. Need to step it up if we're to get something out of this. Credit to Soton too though. very well organized.

Welbeck is such a hit or miss player. One minute he looks like Henry, the next he looks worse than Heskey.

Another disjointed performance where we don't look up to speed. Pre season has not done it's intended job.

Awful first half. I can't remember the last time our passing has been so bad. Time to bring in Scholes (probably for Cleverley, although Carrick has been the bigger culprit.) As well, Welbeck just isn't suited for the wing. Either put him up front and shift Kagawa out wide, or better yet, take Welbeck off and put Nani on.

Not enough cutting edge.
Hope Nani comes on and we have a more balanced formation.
Not sure who goes off.. Kagawa or Welbeck.

Lets be honest, we've been a bit shit tonight. Kagawa hasn't been involved as well. No width on the left.

im happy with that. bit of tactical reorganisation from SAF at half time, get nani and scholes on in the hour mark and Hernandez for last 15 mins.

should win comfortably, so long as midfield and defence don't have any mad moments

Carrick seems to be playing like he's trying to waste time, Valencia hasn't been involved enough, and we don't appear to have a left-side. Other than that it's going fine.

SAF will have a selection headache next week if things continue like this. So many imperfect performances.

Not impressed.

Midfield seems to lack urgency and ideas and it's not helped by static forward play.

Welbeck isn't a left sided winger / forward so why he's being played there instead of Nani is beyond me.

Lindengaard with some of the worst distribution I have seen from a keeper.

Southampton seem to like kicking our players and Dean seems to like letting them.

Terribly sloppy stuff. Passing was just awful.
Could do with Scholes in there.

Our CM has been all over the place defensively. Clev doenst know what to do positionally at all.
Welbeck is useless on the left and Kag is pushed too easily off the ball.

Rafael, Evra and Rvp have been ok.

Welbeck has been a bit crap on the left. Not a winger. Get Nani on.

Been pretty bad so far. Carrick has played some decent passes but he shows no composure under pressure and not enough dynamism. No hope of Cleverley playing 1-2s with him. Kagawa has been quiet too. Plus our passing out of defence has been terrible. Also can't see what having Lindegaard in for De Gea gives us. Anders hasn't been bad big but he ain't been great either and his distribution is much worse than De Gea's. We're lucky to have Tony V and RVP.

Why do we allow them so much space in midfield? Also need more movement when on the ball, hate seeing players run behind a defender and take themselves out as an option. The other thing that bugged me is how central Welbeck is, makes us it very cramped and slightly predictable

Rather poor half from us to be honest. For some reason we are misplacing plenty of fairly simply passes and putting ourselves under pressure when we don't need to be.

Its slightly frustrating to watch. We show glimpses of class and nice movements only for it to be offset by a rubbish touch or a simply pass going astray.

I think we may need to push a someone out wide on the left more aswell. We seem to be relying on The right side to much, and then wanting Evra to provide all the attack down the left. Having a wider player out there I think will open the game up a lot more and allow evra to overlap and get in behind the defence.

Think we're doing pretty well considering the entire team is stoned.

And people say City look ordinary. Then watch us. We lack ideas and players that can actually beat players.
ALso what's Welbeck doing on the left?

This thread is a joke ... some of the negativity is frankly embarrassing
Didn't know that it is not allowed to criticise the team's performance. Some good things, some bad points. If you fail to see the bad ones, I can't help you, mate.

How much longer are we going to drop Nani and prove a point while it harms our performances on the pitch? Clyne isn't the best at all defensively and we have absolutely no one on the left wing. Nani needs to come on. And it would be nice if Carrick decided to pass to a team mate for a change.

The amount of useless passes is incredible. Sometimes we pass backwards when the player in question have time to turn around and bring the ball up the pitch.

Not good enough in that half. We've matched them at times but haven't done enough to get in front. Welbeck hasn't had much penetration on the left and Kagawa seems to be a little off his game as well. Midfield really should be bossing this game. We're a bit lacking in ideas and that shouldn't be the case. Lindgaard's kicking is also unreliable at the moment.

A lot of improvement needs to happen for us to win. I think this game is crying out for Nani.
