Liverpool vs. Manchester United

I am curious to know. The Never Your Fault chant, was this around before the Evra/Suarez incident or only sung after?

I fecking hate Liverpool v United games. I just dread them these days. There's absolutely nothing enjoyable about them: the quality of these games is dreadful, without exception, we invariably fail to produce even a half-decent performance; instead we usually just end up meekly surrendering. Also, the crowd howls at every. single. tackle. (or any even remotely suspicious event, really) if a freekick's not awarded. Stoke fans are the other horrible offenders at this, gets on my nerves every time.

I just hope it won't be as humiliating as it was in 2011. No Kuyt hat-trick this time but it can be worse, it might be a Suárez quintuple or something. But nothing good ever happens at Anfield, that's for sure. Not anymore.

I used to look forward to this fixture, but not after the shit I saw over the last four years. I don't recognize United at Anfield, I have the impression that it's an other team that is playing, a rather average team. When was the last time an attacking player had a good performance there ? I can't remember any.

There must be some kind of mental block, our attacking players always bottle it at Anfield.

yep - getting a bit like that innit? Before we got into this rut, we were taking the piss out of them having not beaten us for about 5 years???? - it didn't last forever and surely these no-shows from us can't either. Problem is, it's more or less all they have to play for apart from the odde cup - a bit like us in the 70s and 80s. They're desperate and it shows in some of their challenges. You never get a ref strong enough to stand up to them as our recent visits show.

The guy in the Pool shirt seems a real self-righteous twat.

Have they got the players and tactics to physically dominate us anymore? Rodgers is all about getting the ball down and playing and, whilst that will include pressing high, I'm not sure he'll be encouraging a physical encounter.

It could work to our benefit.

I have high hopes today. More so than usual than for one of these games. Hoping to see a solid performance and also hoping that everyone behaves. I'm sure they will after messages from the captain and the manager.

My prediction.... 1-3

Hopefully we'll get out of the starting blocks early today, I think that if we start the game properly, we should be able to dominate them. Kagawa's movement and passing combined with our wingers feeding RvP should be too much for them.

A little bit of genius from Robbie Fowler

Robbie Fowler said:
"It would be nice for Luis Suarez to put some flowers at the United end regarding Munich, and for Patrice Evra to do so at the Kop," Fowler said.

"The two clubs do have a rivalry, but some things are far more important than football and this is one of them."

For once I'm not too nervous about this. Quite confident actually.
0-2, RvP and Valencia to score :)

Hang on....doesn't this always happen?

Liverpool always seem to play us on the back of a terrible run of form. Then we get our hopes up and it turns out they have been saving themselves for weeks for their cup final

0-0 I reckon, I hate when we have to play at Anfield.

Extremely tough game today. Anyone who thinks we will walk all over Liverpool are mad, we all know how Liverpool have come to treat this fixture over the years, and today will be no different. Form goes out the window and those kopites are big game players! I hope we can shut up shop today, because one thing I am confident on is us scoring.

I have such a low expectation of the result that I even find it worrying.I should back up United but I don't know  It's as if the inept performance and game raising one from Liverpool is all too predictable

I've never seen the caf so down before matchday. Even during Barcelona clashes. Jesus.

We will raise hell. 0-5.

Even though they've been abysmal this season I fully expect them to raise their game beyond imagination. Also, I expect us to be defensive and poor as per usual at Anfield, we've not played well there for a decade or more. The last really good performance that I remember was a 2-1 win in 2003-04 when Giggs scored 2 for us.

I'd be happy with a draw.

its because our performances against Liverpool defy all logic - we are superior in every department yet they have regularly dominated us

the one game we havent been able to get up for in years.....

lets hope today is the day we buck the trend

i'm heading back to the same pub I went to when Diego scored twice to make the scousers cry so we will definately win

I think we'll do it today. I'd guess at 451 with Carrick, Scholes and Kagawa in midfield, with RvP up front on his own.

How have other teams set up against Liverpool is season? Do we really need to show them that much respect?

I'm not really sure what our problem has been against them lately, but we've recently gone with that sort of 'conservative' team at Anfield, iirc, and it hasn't worked well.

We've tried everything to be fair. I remember starting Berbatov, Tevez and Rooney against them too. Last season we clearly went ultra cautious and I guess you can say it worked, although they dominated the last 5 minutes and could have won it.

so he's basicaly saying that while the Munich air crash is no joke, it doesn't compare to the Hillsborough one in the sense of importance? What a cnut.

Lawro in being a cnut shocker.

His petulant cnuty commentary during the Euros still makes me cringe in horror.

Yeah, that was such a weird game, we dominated the first 15 minutes or so and should have scored 1 or 2, and then it fell apart completely. But if felt like we were the better team that day, to me at least, but couldn't put it all together.
