DR is the better film but I'd say the 1000 Corpses is still definitely worth a watch. It gets silly at the end but there's still some good horror stuff in it. It's a good homage to classic horror...or a rip-off depending how you look at it.

You've gone way overboard here, IMO.
For me together with 2001 is the most unique movie I have ever seen. And it really has a fantastic soundtrack.
I wouldn't put it in the same league as 2001, but of course that's personal preference.
I find 2001 very heavy going, I have watched it but did not enjoy it that much.

I watched it not so long ago, did not have a clue who the guy was.
I enjoyed the film, Tom Hardy who played the lead is excellent.
I would say it was worth watching.
That leitmotif from Requiem for a Dream might be one of the most tediously overused pieces of music ever.
I liked Requiem of a Dream more than 2001, although they are completely different movies. The only similarity between them IMO, is that both of them are very unique and the directing was a masterpiece. Not an interesting story (at-least not comparable to many other movies) but a very interesting way of directing which to me looks like a piece of art.
Citizen Kane - I haven't seen it 'till now and it is a very legendary movie. Anyway I was slightly disappointed on it, not because it wasn't a good movie but because the expectations were higher. In fact I even liked Casablanca more, thought CK was a more complex one.

Watched and thoroughly enjoyed the 1995 French comedy, Les Trois Frères with les Inconnus who have a wide appreciation among the French speaking world in a series of films they did together..7/10...Going to check out Le Pari, next
Le Pari is pretty poor compared to Les Trois Frères, not a real "Les Inconnus" film (although their satirical humour is there).
If you're looking at French 90s comedies, I'd recommend you take a look at "La Cité de la peur" by the other famous French comedian troup, "Les Nuls". Not really satire there, their humour is more absurd (but hilarious nonetheless, I actually prefer La cité de la peur) and loads of references to other films.

Just got back from seeing Looper, definitely worth a watch - very enjoyable and arguably one of the best mainstream sci-fi movies I have seen.
I saw Dredd 3D last weekend. I was expecting it to be awful, but it wasn't. It's exactly what it should have been. It didn't try to be anything other than Judge Dredd killing people and laying down the law. No frills. Just lots of violence.

A good example of bad psychedelia. She really is something else though. Phenomenally gorgeous.

I am curious to know why Hitchkok like having many scenes focusing the protagonist driving. The same thins in is Psycho when there are many minutes focusing the main actor/actress driving. In the end I didn't like how movie ended though generally it is a good movie.

Ï think the driving scenes are there build up suspense. Not sure about people thinking the acting was the best thing about it, Vertigo is all about the mood. I wonder though what the film would have been like without Stewart (Hitchcock later regretted casting him due to his age).

Looper: Very entertaining Sci-fi that just about fits together right. I think I already said after seeing the trailers that this wouldn't make much sense but surprisingly it just about did. Decent ending too but there is one aspect the plot that seem like a contrivance which is the
however that aside an entertaining if not spectacular movie.

The Passenger - A man that feels trapped in life takes the identity of another man and later meets a girl who ends up accompanying him. They both become sort of passengers in another ones life, and themes of human identity and escaping yourself arises. The first 40 minutes or so had way too many slow and ponderous scenes, even by Antonioni's standards I thought but it later picked up the pace and the rest of the film was an enjoyable experience with a small moments of profundity scattered across it. Overall it reminded me a bit of Five Easy Pieces, also starring Nicholson.

Now, it's a time travel movie, and as such I don't think the time-travel logic is perfect, but it's comes pretty close to being accurate as it can be whilst trying to make an engaging and entertaining movie that makes sense. JGL is always good value for money in my book, and It's also nice to see Bruce Willis both look like he gives a shit, and in turn act well.
I'm tempted to make a thread on it, as there could be some decent spoiler discussion based around the plot/ideas/use of time travel... I'll do it in here instead though

Right, so if my thoughts behind time travel are correct... when JGL kills himself at the end, he stops the older Bruce Willis version of himself from ever existing, thus he would never end up in a situation where he has to kill himself to prevent older him from killing Emily Blunt... thus meaning he should still be alive, but if he's alive, then he hasn't killed himself, Bruce Willis can still exist and come back in time, and so we have an endless Loop...

Premium Rush - An action film with a bike messenger hero shouldn't be done this well. There are obvious weak points in the plot but Joseph Gordon Levitt is good in the lead and Michael Shannon is great (again) as the bad guy, and a special mention for Asif Mandvi as the worst dispatcher since Louis De Palma in Taxi. You also get the added bonus of some great shots of New York City.

Goodfellas
First time watching it yesterday and it was excellent, close to Godfather quality but just fell short for me.
Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro both excellent has was Lorraine Bracco playing Hill's wife.
Watching the story from young kid to full on gangster and then drug dealer and finally informer was well written.
The only thing I did not like, was Joe Pesci, hated his part and the way he played it, he just annoyed the hell out of me.
Will be a film I will watch over and over again.

Lucky you, discovering films like that. It's the kind of film that puts a smile on your face just because of how well it's executed. I think the narration, the rhythm of Goodfellas is absolutely brilliant (everything just flows), as is the score, the acting, the dialogue... Brilliant film, never get bored of watching it over and over again!
I never really used to watch films, so these films passed me by.
I agree with everything you said about it, just Joe Pesci really annoyed me in it.
Even though it was a very similar to the part he played in Casino, and I liked him in that.

It's one of those movies that's all about plot, but also has kickass action. Forget about time travel for a second, and try to follow the plot rather than trying to find plot holes. I'm still reading forums and other people's opinions about it to piece it all together, but it was a damn good movie and definitely worth a watch on the big screen.

just saw the whole movie the other night.
I thought the other district 12 guy was decent as he played the part of the weaker challenger really well.
I didn't like the premise one bit but that's a different matter.
Shutter Island is very good isnt it. I watched it for the second time last night.
RE the ending, do people take it as a given that the Ben Kinsley character is telling the truth, and that he has been in the loony bin for 2 years? Or is it possible that his original theory is in fact correct, they are conducting mind experiments and they have somehow implanted memories of murdering his wife into his head?
It's a great film... very overlooked/under-rated in my book, and probably the best thing Scorcese had done since Casino.

It's been a while since I watched it, but I remember being very much in the Di Caprio was mental all along camp... I might have to give it a rewatch.
The Hunger Games had a lot of potential. The fact try made it a 12 ruined it because you didn't actually see any violence. Just a lot of screaming and rapid camera movement. If they'd have gone for an 18 we could have had an excellent series of films. I'd have give it a 5 at best.
