In the league that he is in and the way that he is playing he has a right to be arrogant though. Depending on his mentality he may/may not have to cut it out when he comes over to Europe.

Compare him to 2 players with arrogance that have played in the PL: Balotelli/Ronaldo. One is now comfortably in the top 2/3 in the world (depending on how highly you rate Xavi/Iniesta etc) and the other is only showing flashes of what he can do, albeit looking like he can be a top 10 player sometimes.

Personally, i think he can go on to be one of the best in the world as he seems to have that aura about him.

Ronaldo was always highly professional in every aspect - Balotelli isnt really. No idea about Neymar but I think he has to move to a big club in order to take the next step
 
People can say what they want, it does not matter what league or calibre of the defender, the pace and skill he uses when running and dribbling with the ball is extremely hard to defend against.

He still needs to work on alot of his game, he will face defences who work alot more tactically and wont get the sort of space he gets in the brazil league; but as he matures if he can keep his speed it will be frightening to face.

I personally love the cockyness and arrogance he has, that is what football is about - its an entertainment and thats what get people on there feet.

Who would you rather watch, a team of neymar, messi, ronaldo, ronaldinho, or people like cattermole, gattuso etc...

Santos have, again, released a statement denying having a deal regarding Neymar but it just sounds like bullshit now. Barca sources have also confirmed this as posted just above.

Yep, seems inevitable he'l move to Barca. 40m seems about reasonable thankfully. Given his contract situation, i'd have been pissed had Barca got him on the cheap.

Same. I doubt that Santos would have let their star player leave on the cheap when there is so much interest in him, but in these sorts of transfers you never know.

Ofcourse. Santos wouldnt want it but the current Barca board are good at getting very good prices for players. Add to that how Neymar sings praises of Barca and its no secret he'd relish a move there. That could cause even more problems for Santos. This deal seems to have been struck quite some time back though hence no talk of contract renewals for arguably the biggest talent in world football atm.

Yeah, I was thinking of that and I agree it seems to have been agreed a while back. Homeomorphic was absolutely convinced it was happening and the post about his contract situation was interesting.
 
That's just great. The best team gets the best talent around.

Yeah, both the Barca fans here have said on numerous occasions that its a done deal iirc. It looks more and more like it. Given the interest in the player and how talented he is, no talks about contract renewals is very strange. Only means he's off and Santos know it as far as am concerned. He'l fit in seamlessly on the left for Barca too.

Yup that RVP was very, very cheap.

Anyway 40m euros for Neymar is pretty cheap considering the price of Lucas. I'm guess there'll be add ons etc.

Him and Messi together though will be scary.

True. But Barca are a more dominant force than any seen for a long time so the gap is anyway bigger between the best and the rest right now than it would have been for those other "best" sides, if you get what I mean. Hence, them getting supposedly the best talent is a scary proposition.

Wasn't it said that he wasn't thinking of moving until after the World Cup? Don't know what the agreement with Barca is but I don't think there'd be a big rush to move him.

I don't know what you're trying to say Ramshock but if you're implying that we should have tried harder to get Neymar then it seems that this has been in the works for at least a year or two so there's not much, if anything, we could do to persuade him to come here if he's got his heart set on Barca.

RVP is 29, Neymar has his entire career ahead of him theres a difference.'

RVP will do good for us but players like Neymar we should be competing for but dont.
 
There's no point in worrying about it. The top players from South America have always gone to the top sides in Spain or Italy, for the most part.
 
Neymar was never going to come to rainy, cloudy England. He'll adapt much quicker to Spain.
 
Neymar doesn't want to move for another couple of years and has an agreement premade with Barcelona if you see the post from when this thread was bumped. I don't know what some of you expect us to do in that scenario. We could put in a bid but it'd be pointless and it is the same for all other teams bar the one he's got the agreement with.

I much prefer academy youngsters making it or Vidic/Evra like signings.

This is the part you agreed with. United did compete for bout Moura and Hazard but they chose other clubs. What do you want us to do, kidnap them?

Exactly. Dont know what people think we can do in such cases. Or in cases where a player chooses another club ahead of us.

Besides we just signed RVP which was probably the biggest individual signing any club made last season in terms of talent etc

Why is that ? Why does it matter if they overpay for him or get him on the cheap if at the end of the day they get him ?
