Aston Villa vs. Manchester United

Carrick and Scholes are the worst midfield pairing we have and, bizarrely, one of the most used.

Why the feck are we jogging about when attacking? It's infuriating to watch.

Also does Young ever try and take a man on?

Scholes has made 74 passes and Carrick 60, yet we've had 4 shots on goal.

Please Young when your one on one take the man on for feck sake your a winger, he looks like Fletcher when he played wide pointless. Now going to have to listen to this unbearable fecken Uncle Fester wannabe Wilkins.

Unlucky that is. I hate games where we play away and face 10 men behind the ball.

Next goal will be crucial. We'll push players forward and will be very vunerable on the break to pace

It's not fecking unlucky, we play like that we should expect to pay for it.

Well that was always going to happen.

We've again been way too slow and predictable. Scholes' accuracy on passes is still ridiculous good but I do feel he slows us down now. Need more energy out there. Rooney's passing has been poor as has Valencia's crossing. Van Persie has been anonymous but that's to be expected as we've done little to give him the ball in situations where there's not a Villa player 2 inches from him.

Get Anderson on there and let him attack the space like a Boss m

Please 4-3-3 second half Chico up front with Wazza and Van Persie ahead of Fletch, Ando and Clev. Please..

We're Man United and we do what we want but I'm sure we're not allowed to make four substitutions.

Young and Valencia have been equally poor. They haven't been able to beat their player once or deliver a single decent cross.Scholes-Carrick should be terminated, each single match it's the same fecking thing.A midfield combo of two old and slow players doesn't work anymore against young players but SAF goes and does it again

Fergie wont change it, never does at half time. He'll wait till we're 2-0 down. This is a really poor Villa side too, which makes it that much worse.

Young and Valencia getting owned by two young and inexperienced full-backs. They need to do better if we are to get anything today.

take Scolesy off. he is killing the tempo to be fair. we need a goal, we are not defending a lead.

Frustrating half so far. rather poor in the middle of the park. All we seem to do is pass it around nearly loss the ball before pushing it out to valencia/young who can't get a cross past the first defender.

To be honest Villa while not having much of the ball have looked more dangerous when they do go forward. Hopefully them getting the goal will kick us in the arse and make us actually play with some urgancy

Good job Villa haven't raised their game.

We deserved that. Listless performance. We've completely failed to involve our strikers in the game. young has been poor, but at least he's attempted to carry the ball upfield and create something. We need to get Clevlerley or preferably Anderson on and hope they can inject some life into us, either in place of Scholes or one of the wingers.

It's not fecking unlucky, we play like that we should expect to pay for it.

I thought we've dominated possession and kept trying against a very well organised unit.

Honestly, this is how football matches go sometimes. Seen it plenty of times this season from us and other "big" teams.

Good news is our fantastic bench will hopefully come into play.

Tactics have admittedly been poor thus far, we can only improve from here. Hernandez will sort this out.

Has been like this all season. Only the Wigan match was convincing and even against Arsenal we could only win by one. RVP has kept us going.

Yup. But for his goals we'd be behind in the league and not doing half as well in the CL either.

I'm fed up with our "pass the ball to the winger and hope he makes a good cross" thing.

IT'S ANNOYING.

Just been pedestrian paced all match long. No surprise that its scholes/carrick in midfield. It just isn't working well this season for us. They are much too slow in defending and our pace of play is just snail like. All that posession means feck all because every time villa get the ball they look much more menacing than we do.

Young and Valencia look terrible. They are going up against fullbacks most people havent even heard of yet aren't able to beat them even once. I understand that villa are parking the bus but come on lads..passing it backwards isn't going to win us this game. Where is the aggression and desire to dribble past a defender or play a good cross into the box?

The goal right at the end was a real kick in the teeth. I could see us dropping points today. Scholes, Young and Valencia have been woeful so far. Carrick not much better and as usual he just looks like a passenger. If they are both sitting so deep in midfield they should be providing much better protection for our defenders when villa break out. Smalling was poor defensively (don't know why he needed to commit to a challenge so far out on the wing) but the midfield just is so SLOW getting back.

Beat Chelsea away and Arsenal at home to go top of the league, then balls it up against Villa giving Chelsea and City extra motivation for tomorrow.

Wake up, for Christ sake.

Midfield has been utterly terrible. Carrick is the only one doing what's expected of him, but he needs someone more dynamic next to him. Scholes has been piss poor, as has Young. Valencia seeing a lot of the ball, but as ever so often this season he's failing to make it count. Just stands still looking at defenders seemingly waiting for them to get out of the way so he can make a run.

Need something more in midfield, Scholes and Carrick together doesn't really work, especially when the other team sits back and doesn't give any space to the wingers. Difficult for our strikers to get in the game.

Scholes to Valencia to terrible cross.. Rinse and repeat...75% possession...no shots on goal....Villa score a goal on the counter. feck me!

The person who said that the "joys of life are in the journey not the destination" wasn't a United fan for sure, because with this team the journey is hell of a bumpy ride.

Frustrating as feck..

I think some of these players need a kick up the arse. We lost the league on goal difference last season. Why are some so scared of shooting? We've had 70% of the ball. Games crying out for a Nani type player who can do something unpredictable. I still fancy us but we have ourselves to blame for being in this position at the break.

So keeping Scholes "fresh" by resting him for four games straight means he comes back completely off the pace.

A few problems.

Predictable by Scholes and Valencia, too slow from Valencia, poor crossing.

Rooney is too deep, or one of Carrick and Scholes must push forward. He's practically playing in and around Carrick and Scholes. This is leaving RVP very isolated and out of the game.

I'm afraid, Scholes has has to come off for Clev..
