Norwich City vs. Manchester United

I'm not sure , really I'm not. He keeps getting it wrong . It's not like the eighties when we didn't have better players to pick

I really hate it when people pretend to know better once the game is over. You and some on here would have shut up if we have won this. And don't tell me this lineup can in no way beat a resilient Norwich.

One really really bad feeling after a loss is to see some posters have you believed they know from the outset we have a bad line up. If we win, they would have zero problem with the lineup. It's convenient to witch hunt and Fergie is easy target. Some players really let us down and let Fergie down

Good points..But I am afraid the proof is in the pudding..Giggs can not play from the start previous performances this season prove than. Yet SAF plays him and plays him there....Mind boggling from him:wenger:

But we did not win, my dear. That is the point. Many people thought that we would be shite with this line-up and lo and behold, they were right.

There is a pattern to the Giggs-Carrick midfield since Barcelona dicked us. And it's not a flattering one.

Sorry, when the manager screws up we have a right to voice our opinion. Ryan Giggs should not start a PL match for us again, in fact he needs to take a long hard look at himself in the mirror and question what else he has to give. You may not agree with that, but that's just my opinion.

Anderson or Cleverley should have started.

You're not calling for the manager to be sacked. Some posters are. They're who I'm referring to.

Absolute travesty of a result. Credit to norwich being their usual game raising cnut selves. By next week they will go back to rolling over for citeh or chelski 3-0. A unbelievably lucky header somehow found the back of the net. Lindegaard probably should have done better as the header was not exactly coming from close range.

Nonetheless, we have only ourselves to blame. As usual, our midfield was completely outplayed. They basically just doubled up on our wingers and we were devoid of any creativity. Absolutely feck all came through the middle of the pitch.

What does Carrick have to do before he is dropped? Did nothing as usual and his closing down is getting worse and worse. Just strolling around which led to the pass for garrido's cross and subsequent pilkinton goal. Cleverley might not be as good but at least him and Anderson provide energy and movement. Yet again we were snail pace in midfield, with absolutely nothing going on in the counter attack.

Where has our pace gone? Teams just stroll back against us and set up shop without fear of any counterattack. Young and Valencia without saying were terrible. Neither provided any service or even remotely came close to being able to beat a fullback. Just a real kick in the teeth to drop 3 points against a very subpar norwich team.

We missed the energy from Rooney (and Cleverley) today. Nobody was able to link midfield with attack.

We look like a team stuck in a time warp. Same rigid, unimaginative 4-4-2 we played in the 90's. Some of the same personnel too.

Dreadful. Just dreadful.

Increasingly we look like a team managed by an old man, reverting to what he knows and is comfortable with. That's probably unfair, but it's how it looks.

I'm afraid the writing was on the wall with the line up. I've had misgivings over our midfield for some years now so today's offering was no surprise . L

not so much that..no excuse for that team selection.

we looked 'old'

I think Powell instead of Giggs...Cleverley or Anderson...

our wingers were dire all match.

and today proved we depend so much on Rooney.

Hindsight is a very good thing. If Giggs scored a winner or equaliser, you wouldnt be talking about a Powell. These wingers are able to perform on another day even against stronger team. Fergie would have needed a crystal ball to predict his players didn't perform up to his standard

We'd have killed for that 30 years ago , but it's different now . No need for these daft selections

Peter from Middleton just been on MUTV and he made a great point, that they were lethargic right from the start and that is when you need your captain to kick a few backsides. He thinks Evra is the captain only because he is popular in the dressing room. He is never a captain. Aye he's a good laugh our Patrice, well I'm not bloody laughing.

Absolutely piss poor. Didn't deserve to get anything out of that game, Raf was probably our best player.

Everyone could tell it that was a terrible midfield selection except for a few gimps playing top red.

And Ashley Young needs to buck up his ideas big time.

Sadly I think this is all he can offer. I genuinely don't believe he will ever go back to the villa version of Young. Someone who has pace on the counter and can beat a fullback or whip in a dangerous cross. Its shocking really.

Glory hunters calling for his head..Expecting us to win everything every year..Can't happen....Just need a couple of players and we will be fine..Squad rotation in midfield? Sadly we don't have the depth..Clevs prob would have started if not for the stupid England friendly in midweek

Second place, 1 point behind the champions.

Yep, it's clearly season over for you.

Mate, it's not that, it's just that we know we are going to drop points later on in the campaign, that is why we have to secure all 3 points against relegation candidates home and away. These are the games which win you titles. We lost to City home and away last season yet still lost the league only on goal difference. If things had gone differently in the Blackburn game, we would have been champions. These are the games that champions win.

Note that I'm not saying we're out of the title race, I'm just making a point. It's still November.

It's going to come back to the old 'why did we sign Ashley Young' thing. I still don't get why we signed him. I am sure we could have got better. Now I understand Paul Pogba. I think Fergie is almost scared for Giggs and Scholes to go.

Just my opinions:

Giggs should seriously look at retiring.
We may get one more season from Scholes, but mostly from the bench.
Anderson and Cleverley need to be started (and trusted!) more.
Get the likes of Powell more involved.

I just think we simply cannot rely on the old guard anymore, we need to move forward.

He was always inconsistent at Villa..Little fish in big pond now...He ain't cutting it

I am one person to usually defend Fergie. But today I am really struggling to see where he was going today with that line up?

Fergie doesn't take all the blame though, i know he fecked up with that line-up and perhaps the subs, but I'm not having that those 11 players on the pitch today couldn't turn over fecking Norwich! A few players need to seriously give themselves a kick up the arse and realise that they play for Manchester United, one of, if not the biggest club in the world! Performances today by some of the players is just not good enough. I accept players have off days, but what I cannot accept is players that are seemingly not trying! Only Raf today really came across like he gave a feck IMO!

Oh yes, I'm pissed off!

Thank you, Sir. After reading the crap about Rooney not having a place earlier this week, this game showed why he's needed so much. Yes, and the England match midweek as well.

I couldn't understand why Giggs was left on, although he's more useful when United have to come from behind but I thought he was mostly invisible at 0-0.

Those who are calling for SAF's head should go support man city. Yes he made a bad mistake today but hopefully he'll learn from it and we'll bounce back. It's natural for us to be pissed off with such a result due to bad team selection, but we're only 1 point behind the champions. For me carrick needs to be challenged for his role, i'm surprised fletcher isn't playing more often (if he's indeed fit).

just start with Anderson and Cleverley. Bring the kids as back up.

Norwich are a very average side...and they made us look poor.

I don't think they made us look poor. Its just that they showed how easy it is to defend against us when we don't select the proper midfield. Basically just parked the bus and said come and break us down. We couldn't.

I think its matches like these where Rooney and Kagawa are supposed to be the difference. We sure as shit can't keep focusing our attack on the right wing. Its just too predictable and we don't have someone named Ronaldo playing in that position anymore.

of course Giggs could have produced something..and he almost did. But we need power and creativity in midfield. Having the best forwards in the world is not enough. You win or lose a match in midfield. And for whatever reason that is teh area we have not strengthened.

Yes we just need a couple of players, we have needed a couple of players for about 3 seasons, he keeps signing the wrong ones. There was nothing coming from that midfield yet again, never mind maybe we will sign a winger. He completely underestimated Norwich.

He was always inconsistent at Villa..Little fish in big pond now...He ain't cutting it

Him and agbonhalor were a nightmare to defend against when they played us.

I suppose it isn't so bad having Ashley as a squad player, however I would never select him ahead of Nani.

In the last 2 mins when we were desperate, who was there to make it look like we are in any urgency? Not the young lads! If Giggs scored or helped score from that last corner, you would have shut up!!

Fergie saying Norwich deserved win as they worked hard. We had a few half chances, no great chances. Felt we could comeback and score but they defended well and ruddy made saves. We always miss rooney but we had enough good players on the pitch.

I hope he realises that his team selection and substitutions contributed to the defeat.

Ashley Young always started well for Villa, then disappeared for the rest of the season.
