Norwich City vs. Manchester United

not so much that..no excuse for that team selection.

we looked 'old'

I think Powell instead of Giggs...Cleverley or Anderson...

our wingers were dire all match.

and today proved we depend so much on Rooney.

There's no excuse for that side not winning. The players let you down and their keeper played well.

First, it was just one of those nights.
Second, we're just not the same team without Rooney.
Third, Giggs just doesn't have the horsepower to drive the train.
Fourth, our CBs still have room for improvement.

There are good reasons to be upset, but not to be in despair. Our best form is yet to come. We will lift the prem trophy and Norwich away will be but a blip on the memory radar.

If from the start of last season you have predicted we came second for sure and by goal difference, then show me where's your crystal ball, because I want it too. Now before Christmas weogre second on the table with one point differenc, you sounded like we are no way getting back if we still have Fergie in charge

So unless we can predict the EXACT fortunes of our club over the season we can't claim to be correct in the opinion that certain players are only being selected on sentiment?

If lessons are learned , then perhaps . I have a feeling we all said this after the Spurs defeat

We were just dreadful, The first half was the usual shove it to the right over and over tactic, and in the second half we were pumping it into the box like the players had been watching a "Best of Stoke" compilation.

The substitutions were baffling, Giggs stays on and Scholes is added to the mix, so we went from playing 4-4-2 to playing 4-4-2 with an extra 38 year old on the pitch. In truth for all that possession in the last 20 minutes Bassong's header was the only time we really worked Ruddy and they should have finished us off on the break but Hewsan froze.

No don't twist my meaning! My post was only responding to someone's thought that from last year's result (that we were seoncd on goal difference), a loss of title that was predictable because we replied on old players who had passed it and a manager who is an old man who had lost it.

I don't know why SAF is so against throwing on Anderson or Cleverley to start off a match? Its clear to see we need players that close down and work hard in midfield. Especially on an away day like this. Did he actually think we could "pass" our way to a win with Giggs and Carrick in the middle?

you don't know because you are not the manger who's the only person to choose the team. If he had started these players you referred to from the start and we lost bigger margin, you and some on here will be screaming for his head accusing him of whatever come to your head.

Why can't people just admit that this selection can easily beat a Norwich team if they DO PERFORM. They didn't today not becaaue they were not able to. They let us and the manager down by not playing well. If this team selection is a sure lose, then you can blame Fergie. These players let him down!

Are you still blathering on?

Are you a schizophrenic, or soemthing? Many posts ago, I have asked you not to follow my posts (since you said you don't give a rat what I think). But you're still here reading my posts. Weird.

Strangely enough when a post is in front of me , I tend to read it . But if you'd like , I will ask the Apple programmers to configure all my products specifically not to recognise yours.
Shouldn't be too hard, what with their having the whiff of excrement about them

You are not very technology savvy are you? Not surprising... :)

You can configure it by using some button on your screen in order to achieve that without an Apple Programmer's help. But I am not here to educate you.

Or may be if they didn't have a goalie.

This is not very funny. But I can understand the frustration of losing to a Norwich team can cause people to be really irrational. Say some really funny line to cheer people up is better than this.

I can still keep the faith and not witch hunt. We will be back on top before Christmas

Missed the match and judging from the chatter, we played like shit....again....against a mid table team.....again.....great way to throw away the league title. I'm sure Norwich did well, fair play to them but no way United should of dropped points in this match.

As Scarlett herself would say, Frankly my dear ........
( Shame I'm not talking to Rhett , but some pale equivalent of Prissy the housemaid )
He's to Rhett, as this United performance is to a great United performance?
Let's just forget all about this now and get blotto! :wenger:

And that includes you, devil. When you're posting stuff like this

it's time to walk away. And you're showing an almost Glastonesque lack of awareness of who you're addressing here. Erica's been through the hard times. Anyway, let's forget about this debacle now, please?

Agree the players let us down. But the fact is Giggs cannot perform anymore. He needs to have the courage do what Gary Neville did. Scholes can still make those wonderful passes...but press him and he makes errors.

Select players who are in form. If all the wingers are off form, play through the middle. So far in the Premiership, we have played one good match...away to Newcastle.

Fergie needs to call time on certain players if they are not willing to.

No Norwich player made more than 2 interceptions or 2 tackles. Think thats interesting. They just kept their shape and Turner made 13 clearances from our mostly poor crosses

Scholes called it and came back and helped us. It's easy to say old players can't perform any more because they are old. But is it neceeaaarily true?

Fergie should have known when players should retire and cant contribute any more. Not sure you know better than fergie when it comes to knowing football and knowing his players. If you doubt his intergity about playing the best players he regard capable of winning in any one given game, I beleive you would be very much mistaken.

Fergie trusts his players...afraid they have let him down...badly.

Scholes was marvelous last season for us....much less this season.

My point is we need to look to the future. For better or worse it is Cleverly and Anderson.

it's really not a case where I have been making it personal. I unlike you have no idea if Erica has been though the hard times (and how would you know I haven't? Granted, I am not that old to experience much but still... ) and that made her a better poster and hence cannot be argued against? Everyone can have strong views whether they have been throguh hard times or not. Football supporting is an emotional pasttime So don't ask anyone to shut up when they do have something to say.

Again, if anyone takes it personally for their opinion being challenged and started to be rude, then they are delusional because on a pulic forum, if you have your opinion, epxresss it, and try to convince others to agree with you, you are bound to have someone who's disagreeing.

I have been consistently holding the views that his players let him down, and let us down. This week you are seeing a great team the next you see the same players who you can't recognise at all. Fergie is human and does his mountain climbing job brilliantly season in season out. And after a loss, people started to question his integrity, capability... it's borderline shamblic really! United fans come on!!

Like you and all supporters, fergie wants our players to perform, and I believe (hands on heart) he truly believes the choice he made is capable of winning whether it is against Midtable, rivals, or bottom. When players cannot play up to the standard required, for sure he will take note and analyse the problem.

To say that he is selecting team through emotional attachment or other reason outside footballing reason is insulting his intelligence and his integrity.

Furture is important but if you can know for sure young players are better, how can you explain how dismal Young has been, and how Valencia brillance has dropped?

People talked about how many players in the pool we can choose from. But have they also forgotten how many players are out injured? Every week, Fergie has to juggle between having to consider if older players should be on the bench, be dropped, or start, whereas your and some on here are just armchair critics with no sympathy of how hard such job entails. Some even asked him to retire. Why?! WTF!!!

Lets be clear. With the players we have got, we were a goal away from winning the title last year and are only a point away so far. I am not saying Fergie is choosing his teams through emotional attachments. He chooses the best team he thinks will win the match. But I must say I think some players are either not giving their all or unable to give their all. Fergie sees players in training and talks to them about what is expected of them in the match. Then they go out and perform. As supporters we have opinions. I am not among those thinking Fergie should retire. When he knows it is time, he will leave. No worries. But I am not among those that think Giggs should play as long as he wants because he is a Legend. I wont think less of Giggs if he left now. The failure today and at Spurs specifically is because Giggs could not do what he should have done. Of Course the entire fault is not his alone. We had several players who did not carry their weight.

I think Fergie will sort it out...But I do think we need to look at the future...

I really truly and honestly (and intellengently if I may add... :)) believe that it is "lazy critique" when you or some on here blame old player like Giggs for the poor performance and loss today! Young is dismal, Valencia is one or two classes away from his top class' performance, and how many clever shots did you see Chitcha's today? Without Rooney, it seems RvP has lost his sharpness... These are all younger players. Shit does happen and over the season we do have games like this that make you think we are doomed. But reaction should not be harsh on Fergie and old players. It's a team efforts and I really doubt if cleverly and ando start we would guarantee a win. If their goalie hadnt been brilliant, I doubt people will be so critical of Fergie and Giggs. My 2 cents!

Anyone care to take a stab at the number of games this season and last we've lost due to lineups like this?

I had that familiar feeling in my gut today, it was the same one before the City game when we fielded Park, Scholes & Giggs.
