Manchester City vs. Manchester United

lot of negativity on here. think sometimes people forget the quality of players in the united team. its all about city and how powerful they are. well I think we'll do em. and do it playing well.

I think its down to the fact that when they had a red card advantage at Old Trafford they mauled us 6-1 but when we got one on Kompany, helping us out, we wen't 3-0 up was it and then nearly poo'd ourselves letting them snatch it. The other two games in the league and CS at Wembley were also 1-0 margins so it will be a tough tough game, potentially very close and we are away from home here.

When we got to Anfield we more often than not play like we are scared, I just hope the 'new' City fixture doesn't become like that as them, Liverpool, Leeds being a title rival is a bit different of a clash to Chelsea and Arsenal for example.

Our weakness is the defence or at least keeping it tight back there, our strength is the attack, I just hope we don't hold back the attack because then were leave ourselves with little. We are top but City are unbeaten, they are strong no matter what. Looking forward to it, will be nervous but I'd consider a draw now to be honest. Old Trafford later on is another story. Just hope we don't get any silly red cards this time.

City. Why are you so feckin shitty

and Alan Ball, you're gonna win feck all.

I fancy Clev to start. Maybe Valencia is this year's 'surprise' inclusion...

looking forward to this one

come on Frogie

God damn it, I'm going to have to miss this, I was very optimistic as well :(

0-2 United RVP and One of our youth products not sure which one!

According to Mandy Henry, Fergie has hinted he will go with experience in midfield..

that doesn't sound good.

Well Cleverley and Anderson are injured, so what else can he do? Just pray it's Scholes and not Giggs.

I've been a bit pessimistic this week but the closer we get to kick off the more confident I'm feeling.1-0 United early Rvp goal and then defend for our lives.

I'm starting to get excited now. Come on United!!!

Yeah, I guess with the injuries there is no easy choice.

I'm thinking maybe going with;

------------De Gea------------
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
------------Carrick-------------
-----Fletcher------Jones----
------------Rooney------------
---------RvP--Welbeck-------

Jones picked for his mobility and physicality in midfield against Toure, and being able to fill in when Evra bombs forward. Fletcher for his leadership and great understanding of the game, as well as his ability to pick a pass- it's just a shame it's not pre-illness Fletch with his energy levels.

Rooney will naturally help out in the midfield battle, RvP should be instructed to try and get wide right when City attack to try and pin the LB back, while Welbeck should drift wide left to do the same to the RB.

City are bloody tough at the council house, I suppose it could be a long day no matter what side gets picked.

Actually find myself not being all that wound up by this fixture.
Have had quite a subdued day. Watched the FC win and the Wanderers beat last years winners.

I am looking forward to the game but I don't really feel myself getting anxious over the result.

Which is weird.

Would be a massive boost to see Valencia's name on the team sheet! I would rather have Jones Scholes or Giggs starting than Fletcher if I'm honest. I really fancy us today people go on about the 6-1 but up until the red card we had bossed them. It was when we went gung ho they caught us. Not saying there not good but I certainly don't fear them and they are far inferior to JM Chelsea team.

I want to see this team line-up that compromises our wingers, but attempts to shore up the central midfield. I
Got strange feeling its Fergie is going to pack his central midfield to overcome Citeh's central midfielders. So definitely, we'll play a 3 in the middle. But for all we know, he might again play P. Jones in central midfield as a shield though we all know he is a centre back or rightback. And he might play Rafael as a wing midfielder since he's done it before in an injury crisis against Arsenal a few years back. Such a pity Ando got injured, he seems perfect for these games with his power, energy, hustling and forward bursts.

Still, I got a strange feeling we're going to nick it by 1 goal from Rooney. He seems to be back on a roll.

We need our attack and defence to be solid - cos out midfield will be non existant

@MandyHenryMedia: In his briefing with the Sunday papers on Friday, Sir Alex hinted he may "go with experience" in the midfield today. #mufc

:nervous:

SAF talk about welbeck being able to play out wide and lack of other options out wide, make me think that we are going to line up with Welbeck and Young wide. Then have a two man midfield with Rooney dropping into it, with RVP up front.

With our midfield options, I'd be guessing that Scholes and Carrick will be the ones starting. I really don't want to see giggs in a midfield two

I am fecking excited.

And shitting myself as well.

Come on United!

For the first time I can remember, I am dreading today's game.
If we played like we did v Reading we will get hammered.
Citys defence is not any better than ours, they have the advantage unbeaten at home for 2 years, give the some credit for that.
Hopefully we will get a team playing well and we beat them and beat them well.

Sydney were over 5/1 on SportingBet too! Shame I put them in an accy with Brisbane.

I hope we just put 9 men behind the ball and hoof it up to RVP

Hopefully a City player loses it and gets sent off. We might win if that happens. I'd take a draw though.

Antonio Valencia on Instagram: Who's up for a surprise later today?

Every time I've allowed myself positive thoughts on today's match, I remember it is fecking Martin Atkinson that will be making himself the centre of attention today. I'm not usually one to make a big deal about who the referee is before matches, but when even MUTV pundits are fearful about Atkinson's appointment then it does seem somewhat justified to be concerned...

Is that him actually? I've never seen him attempt English in interviews, and he seems to stick to Spanish when I've seen him on Twitter...?

Defeats the purpose of a the 'surprise' if he tells everyone on a social networking site?

No idea! Was posted on twitter and facebook by the scandinavian supporters club.
