It doesn't matter much, does it? If he was 20 stone and could run for 90 minutes no one would be bothered.

He has a fat head Thats why people think he is fat.

But overall he is in good shape.

My mate plays football and is as fit as I have ever seen anyone.

And he has had ligament injury 5 times in last 2 and a half years.

Recurring hamstring issues suggest he might actually have a problem with his lower back which is ultimately linked to posture.

When does the Carrington hospital open? With the number of injuries experienced recently, i think it is necessity now.

I play 5-a side (like many of you probably do) once a week (90min) then do next to feckall the rest of the week. Pretty much run around all game, headless chicken style but I never get injured, no matter how hard I stretch or sprint.
Couple of years ago I put on some weight, 40 pounds to be precise. Not only I lost pace, I started having those hamstring problems I always heard about but never experienced. Had to rest for three to four weeks a couple of times. My ankles started hurting and for the first time my knees felt kind of weird. Of course you could all put that down to me getting older but I was in my mid 20s.
Anyway, I stopped eating shit food, lost the weight in an year and now there's not a sign of any injuries, I'm back to my previous self.

What I'm saying is from my experience extra weight does damage. Could also be bullshit, I know. United have medical staff and they're supposed to know their shit. But It makes you wonder...

Pretty much a no-brainer, isn't it? If you strapped 2 stone on your back, and ran around with that, you wouldn't need much convincing that it imposed an extra strain on your body.

Yeah, it's a no-brainer.

Every man and his dog can see that Anderson's not as trimmed as he should be. Of course his body is put through extra strain.

His injury record isn't all coincidence.

Not a expert of any kind but does seem like Anderson doesn't have a most upright or confident of postures.

It's incredible how much you lot want to gossip about another man's weight.

Its annoying that you lot ignore photo proof and keeping spouting nonsense as well.

The way his body is he does tend to look fat when playing, but if you just look at all the other pictures (I'm Always Right's just above) it's pretty obvious he isn't fat. Find something else to blame him injuries on.

If he's in terrific shape why don't he ever seem to complete 90 minutes without fading after 70?

It's virtually never happened for us. I can't remember one single match where he's looked good throughout.

You remember every single game he's played in for the last 5 years? I'm impressed

Nah - the argument has moved from weigght to shape/fitness since weight was prroved wrong.

Of course not. I just can't remember once where I've thought to myself "hey, Ando had some match throughout today".

And even this season the problem's been obvious, even after a full pre-season.

Probably what Pete said. He isn't fat, as the pictures prove, but it seems he's got fast-twitch fibres. He'd be our star man if we had futsal team.

Fast-twitch muscles, he's an explosive player and lacks 90-min CM stamina.

Thank god for a bit of sense. Marjen I normally find myself agreeing with you, but I can't understand how anyone can continue to peddle the 'fat' argument despite the ever-growing portfolio of photos of him looking perfectly trim.

Face it, he's not a Cleverley in terms of build or style, and correspondingly he's not the sort who's ever going to be running at 100% for 90 minutes. Doesn't mean he's fat or even especially unfit. Look at Ozil - in perfect physical condition, and actually of a trim, willowy sort of build, and yet he also burns out if you play him for a full match. Not every player can do it at the intensity required at a top club these days.

No-one would call Yaya Toure fat would they?

Briefly considered giving the 'not to his face' joke in reply. But I think he showed what he's made of mincing off the pitch after 'injuring' himself on the intimidating bulk of Tom Cleverley on Sunday. I'm not sure I'd be particularly worried about calling him fat to his face.

It's a bit of a caf joke, no one seriously thinks he's allowed to be out of condition. My view is he simply isn't a CM and should play higher up but he doesn't look good wide and isn't good enough to play in the hole. Man without a position in a top team, will possibly be spectacular as a hole player at a slightly lower level.

Dunno about his negativity but he's sure prone to jumping to the odd conclusion. All in all, though, he's not bad for a fella from Bodø.

Well put your money where your mouth is and grab a Sofa and Olly.

Saw in the MUFC injuries thread that Anderson is due back 23rd - Does anyone happen to have an update on his situation, and how bad the injury actually was?
