Manchester United vs. Newcastle United

That's one shocking Newcastle team right there. Still expect a struggle though. No strikers on the bench?

Okay, moaners gonna moan.

Giggs had a good cameo on Sunday, that gave him place in the starting line-up today. On the wing, not in the middle with Scholes, for feck's sake.

This proves some people are just going to moan forever when they see Scholes and Giggs in the same line-up. Wankers.

Because starting with Giggs and Scholes has worked the last 10 times.

Risky not having especially Rooney but also Welbeck and young not on bench.

Yeah I'm a tad concerned.

Not sure about that team, Giggs starting is fair enough as he impressed in his 15 mins or so, but keeping in a poor valencia and taking out Clev whos been good and young who has ranged from good to decent, seems odd. Also surprised Rooney isn't included at all. Still it's a weak toon team in the middle and you can imagine they're going to bypass midfield anyway and go for the long ball.

Giggs was great on Sunday granted, but think back to the line-up for the Norwich game when we had a similar sort of reaction to the line-up. We all called it right in saying it was gonna end badly.

Never mind. We can't say anything negative about Scholes and Giggs. Wait till we're losing at 50 mins, then we might be able to.

Starting Valencia is my biggest worry though, not Scholes or Giggs. He's been shit recently

2nd year running Rooney disappears close to Christmas.

Glad to see Rooney not in the squad today, does not deserve to be playing at all, but Valencia does not deserve it either after that joke performance on sunday.

Holy shit I just saw the bench. Where's Welbeck?

Better hope that the first eleven can get the job done because I can't see anyone on that bench rescuing us if it all goes wrong.

Lineup ad bench are concerning but if it pays off and we win then we'll be fresh for West Brom. You'd think that game would be easier than this one but Newcastle are missing a few.

Poor midfield with Scholes and Giggs both starting. Valencia in this form should not be starting either. I think it's going to be a long afternoon with lots of zombie passing.

Where are Rooney, Jones, Welbeck and Young? There's no-one on that bench who can come on and change things offensively.

If Giggs started at the expense of Valencia then that's fair enough, but to play him, Scholes and Carrick in the same line up is asking for trouble. Then Valencia who was diabolical at the weekend still gets a game anyway. I don't really care if Newcastle are not very good, our team today is not very good either and it will be another struggle unless RVP continues to bail us out of trouble.

Very dynamic line-up from us - a midfield of a 38 year, a 39 year old, the new "stop and wait" Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick. And no Rooney to compensate.

Should be interesting...

Well we just have to hope he finds form.

The bench is my main concern today.

But feck it I reckon we will take them 2-0

Starting XI and bench are just shocking. The midfield apart from Carrick is going to be horrible to watch. No offense, but this is a massive massive punt by Fergie today, especially with that kind of bench. Totally unnecessary, it's not like we're playing Southampton or Reading at home.

We all know the game is going to be slow as hell, but this time around there is no one on the bench to come to the rescue. We need a bit of RVP magic today to see this through. Newcastle must be well up for this after seeing our line-up.

Don't get the bench either, presumably welbeck/rooney and young aren't all injured but either if they were surely it would be better to have a reserve attacker rather than wooton, can't imagine he'd come in over Vidic if we needed a cb, so don't see the point of him.

I'm surprised Rooney isn't playing, as SAF always says that Wayne needs games to get his best form going.

Yeah I agree of the possible ways we could have rotated this seems odd, esp as RVP prob won't defend as much as rooney would leaving carrick to do a lot of defensive work again.

Very surprising with Giggs and Scholes but tbf Giggs played well last time, so although I am not overly confident, we are not v.s Barca, hopefully this will be enough to see off the game..

Well, another game I will miss as at work, not too thrilled about the team as I think playing Scholsey in the middle without someoen with any legs is a mistake, but to be honest, this will not be a midfield battle. They will go long from back to front and see if they get a break. Hence I think Smalling gets the nod at RB.

We should have enough to beat a poor Newcastle team. Nice if Chicharito can gel well with RVP and get on some dinky through balls.

Depends on the reason behind his exclusion.

Surely he wasn't stupid enough to do the same as last year and have a few too many. I'll be fecking fuming if he is considering how important this time of year and every point is.

Big chance for Hernandez to be our second choice now. Hopefully he takes it.

The bench is shocking. No-one to change the game in an attacking sense.

Giggs was massive when he came on last time around, here's hoping he'll do well again. Good to set a mark down for Rooney as well, play shit and you're dropped! Hernandez deserves playing time.
