Manchester United vs Real Madrid

Rooney or no Rooney (as bizarre as that is) I'm not as confident with that line up as I was the first leg for some reason.

But in SAF we trust, there's a plan there and lets hope it all works out! I'm more interested in Nani, hopefully he doesn't get into a competition with Ronnie tonight and gets on with his own game.

I still think we'll go through though :)

In SAF we trust.
Vidic is in for his aerial ability and leadership.
Rooney simply must have a knock.
Giggs starting seems a sentimental pick 1000th game and all that but surely not?

I cant help but feeling Rooney isn't 100%. His work rate, passion and willingness to win is second to none. I would never criticize guess Ferguson but surely Rooney has a knock.

Nobody will take his posts seriously any more.

It would be more like a life time ban.

To show my support AND my belif in what we can do tonight I've decided to put a bet (€15) for a man utd win! Hope that can calm the nervs of caf users tonight.

If this match goes as most expect then it will be won or lost in the final half an hour. With Rooney on the bench we will have the greater injection at this time hopefully.

The risk is that Madrid outscore us in the first hour and that without Rooney we lack the firepower to stay in the game. However, I think we are set up to be compact and will stay in the game.

This. This is the one thing i can think of, bring on rooney, and possibly kagawa (not sure if he's on the bench) and blow them open in the last 20-30 minutes on the counter attack.

My Opinion. Fergie reckons RVP will be up alone on his own for the start of the game and Ryans brilliant over the top balls to RVP recently may come into play here

So your opinion is that we have 5 attacking players Carrick, Cleverley, Nani, Giggs and Welbeck who are all great with the ball at their feet and we're going to be playing long ball to van Persie? You don't think a more defensive line up would make more sense if that was the plan?

Rooney's wife has echoed the exasperation of the majority of us. If he wasn't 100% - his wife would know? :D

This sort of reminds me of the City line up in the 1-0 loss last season. I'm worried, but still hopeful.

Why? It's his best position, I'd say that's exactly where he will be.

Nah...we can't leave Ronaldo one-on-one with Rafael. Sure Nani is decent at tracking back but he's our second best attacking player in this game and I wouldn't want him spending too much time our third which is what he would be doing if he was helping out on Ronaldo.

Put him on the left and give him some freedom to hang back occasionally when they have the ball.

Wellbeck needs to be helping Rafael out.

I have to say. This is pretty insane!

Fergie's putting a lot of trust in our players and I hope they prove him right. Either way I can't see Rooney staying on the bench until the final stages. You just feel we're gonna need him.

100% my thoughts as well, the line-up back in April was ridiculous and the game was lost from the very start. Giggs, Scholesy, Park... now Giggs. I just can not fecking believe this.

The positives are that Vidic starts and we have a feck load of quality options on the bench if something goes horribly wrong or if we need to start controlling the game.

Bets on the timing of the first Giggs pointless flick?

I don't see how that's a positive, seeing as he took Evans place.

Possible teamsheet explanation: Last time we faced a mighty rearguard action against Spanish opposition at OT (Barca 2008), Fergie left the meticulous preparation to Quieroz. This time he left it to Phelan.

If it works it will be hailed as a master stroke but I can't understand leaving Rooney out.
