Thank god none of you guys play for us, look at you all emotionally unstable.

Possible teamsheet explanation: Last time we faced a mighty rearguard action against Spanish opposition at OT (Barca 2008), Fergie left the meticulous preparation to Quieroz. This time he left it to Phelan.

Lineup judging by reactions in this thread;
Lindegaard
Valencia Buttner Carrick Rafael
Young Giggs Scholes Powell Bebe
Welbeck

When has Rooney actually done it for us in Europe? Apart from the Milan game in 2007?...Just a general observation

Rooney has always been our best player in Europe. He's got one of the best scoring record in the knockout stages as well, only Messi is better I think.

I don't know if in a game we need legs, carrck and Giggs in midfield is the best idea. Madrid have blistering pace and will press us heavily, unsure whether a midfield that slow can deal with it.

Nani - ''Ready for the game.''

He needs to have a blinder tonight.

I have to say. This is pretty insane!

Fergie's putting a lot of trust in our players and I hope they prove him right. Either way I can't see Rooney staying on the bench until the final stages. You just feel we're gonna need him.

Half time most likely when it all goes tits up.

Can't believe it, really. Rooney off makes no sense at all. I would understand Van Persie on the bench, but Rooney?

He's our best defender and arguably the best in Europe. It's a positive.

He is but is he ready for such a big game already? That's what will be tested. I love vida but we'll have to see tonight if he's reached peak form yet.

Now it's time I can get excited for the match. I was expecting Vidic and Ferdinand to start and hopefully tonight wil dispel that "theory" that they can't play together. Hopefully it will be a Fergie master stroke starting Giggs on his 1000th appearance, it will certainly add to the occasion.

Wow! Just saw the lineup. Shocker really with both Rooney and Kagawa on the bench. Just hope we dont concede in the first half.

Always believed in Sir Alex, and always will.

These "Welcome Home Ronaldo" banners are quite cringey.

Van Persie has been the best player in England over the last couple of seasons. Why on earth would you leave him out? And his best position is up top.

What theory is that?

Vidic in three days, No Rooney, No Jones and Nani. :nervous:

Please start the game now and let it be over with. The wait isn't helping.

hey...fellas...win or lose...fergie has done a curve ball here. It it comes off..brilliant...if not..hey were we ever meant to win this cup this season?

Is that what you tell yourself to go sleep at night? I mean come on man. If we beat Real tonight and Barca go out against Milan, we have to be favorites along with Bayern.

Anyone else worried that Giggs might start? He was fantastic as a sub, but he should stay a sub. He's just too old to start against Madrid.

:wenger:

Dropping Rooney is going to create a problem. His wife is piping up on Twitter when it's none of her business.

I just can't understand why you would drop one of our best two players for the biggest game of the season. It would be one thing if jones was playing but why is Giggs starting ahead of Rooney in Rooney's preferred position?

And no Evans? Our best defender this season not playing? This feels like Barca 09 final all over again.
