Manchester United vs. Manchester City

Carrick
Rooney
RVP was decent
Welbeck was alright
Rafael's growing into the game

Carrick was underwhelming by his usual standards. RvP did look threatening, just had feck all of the ball.

Rafael and Welbeck were largely poor though.

Young has been quiet, but on the break he is an outlet. But I don't think he has been poor.

I'm guessing he will get most of the blame though.

I don't know what I expected - well, apart from the fact that the City players would largely act like twats, which they now are - that was a scrappy old half of football. My goodness it went quick though.

It went so quick. When I was watching the West Ham Liverpool game I kept looking up at the clock thinking shit this game has gone quick but it was going on 6 minute increments and wasn't going quickly at all.

Maybe htat's what made it feel so quick because that game gave me swine flu.

Really disappointed by the team so far, I mean it's one thing to have City with most of the possession because their midfield is better than ours but what has annoyed me the most is the shit passing and after shit passing.
All those hopeless balls lumped forward, all out of sync passes like passing the ball behind the player's run.It has been shit so far, luckily City haven't looked THAT threatening with all the ball they have had.

Those 250,000 City fans are making some noise.

I think it's painfully obvious that Welbeck just doesn't fit on the right flank. He's much more comfortable on the left.

I want to see Kagawa and Nani in the second half. Possibly Cleverley.

Cleverley might not shine individually very often, but as a team we certainly play better when he's Carricks midfield partner. Not criticising Giggsy but he'd be better on the wing imo because City are playing with one striker so the midfield is overloaded.

I don't know why so many people complained about Dean this half. I mean yeah he missed some calls both ways, but he hasn't been biased towards any team, IMO he did a good job.

I would however be unhappy if he blew the whistle if we were in City's position.

Come back at the end. He's got a big decision in him, always has. He is one that could give anything for anything. Shirt pulling in the box is his baby.

What has Kagawa done to warrant missing both the Chelsea match and tonight's? He'd be better than what is out there whether on the wing or centrally.

I'd happier have him than Giggs ATM but he might come on 2nd half.

We do need a significant change and his inventiveness would cause problems IMO

Carrick
Rooney
RVP was decent
Welbeck was alright
Rafael's growing into the game

Welbeck was poor - Left Rafael on his own there at times and he drifted to the centre too much for my liking when he should be making himself a passing outlet whenever Rafael is attacking........

Maybe if City walk out in the second half wearing Real Madrid shirts we'll be in business.

Not been great from us, I can understand us being more open as we're playing wider and in a more high risk way but I don't get why we're so static in attack. Welbeck and Young don't really go on the outside much or put in a lot of crosses so you'd think they could move more. At the moment with them being very fixed in their positions, rooney and rvp both quite high and carrick and giggs getting ever further apart we're quite open and a bit lacking in ideas. Contrast to city where milner and nasri are constantly moving all over the pitch and even playing of each other despite playing on opposite flanks.

Does Ryan think people still watch Showboat on Soccer AM?

Rooney has been our best attacking player probably. Overall I'd say we're playing pretty well, apart from Giggs and Welbeck, but even they aren't doing too bad. Welbeck keeps going in the middle and not giving us an option on the right, Giggs has played a few misplaced passes as well.
Would like to see Nani or Valencia in for Welbeck on the right and probably cleverley in the middle for Giggs. Both defences look shaky though.

Passing hasn't been great. Wingers doing a better job covering the wings as the half went on at least but we could use someone who helps keep the ball more in midfield.

Young has been quiet, but on the break he is an outlet. But I don't think he has been poor.

I'm guessing he will get most of the blame though.

Nah I hope not, he's looked more threatening than any of our other attackers, bar RvP (when he's actually had the fecking ball).

I'll take a "disappointing" draw.

Truth is, all that's left to do is lock up the prem title. No way will this United squad ever be immortalized as one of the greatest. So let's just get on with wrapping this thing up and going to work over the summer to strengthen a squad that's good enough to lift the English prem trophy easily but one that struggles in cup competitions.

Cleverley might not shine individually very often, but as a team we certainly play better when he's Carricks midfield partner. Not criticising Giggsy but he'd be better on the wing imo because City are playing with one striker so the midfield is overloaded.

Cleverley is our GOTO guy in these big games.....
I don't know why he didn't start today, he keeps things simple but things are ticking. He always make himself available for passes across the midfield with his intelligence and sharp movements.

Silva is just so dangerous. It's virtually impossible to get the ball out of his control.

Carrick was underwhelming by his usual standards. RvP did look threatening, just had feck all of the ball.

Rafael and Welbeck were largely poor though.

I think Carricks got an incredibly hard job atm, we're playing so many hopeful balls that there's no chance for him to slow it down and get control and Giggs has lost his positional discipline more and more as the game goes on.

Still fuming about Welbeck's failure at playing Rooney through at the start of the game, a decent ball there and he could have been 1v1 against Hart.

Frustrating, uninspiring stuff again.

Both teams showing why they're a level below the best in Europe right now.

If it were up to me I'd put Cleverley on in the middle for Welbeck, push Giggs to one of the wings and then put Nani or Valencia for Giggs later on. Don't think we'll see Kagawa in this game at all, doesn't really suit him. Would rather put on Valencia or Nani on the wings if we are subbing our wingers.
