In his last match, Kagawa assist 2 times the assister (this makes sense?)... rooney and giggs... plus he was there offside distracting the defense for the third goal.

so he participate directly in the 3 goals against Villa... all these are covered by the stats? i dont think so...

there is so much more to Kagawa's game than what the stats actually show. For me, he is a better player than Hazard. But i dont think its fair to compare them because they are also totally different players.

This is so much like a RAWK post on Downing, tbf. :p

i dont even want to know what the heck is RAWK...

but anyway, in simple words: Kagawa is a better player than Hazard. No matter what the stats say...

i fecking love shinji hhaa

Actually these important passes are covered by stats as "key pass".

Who gives a shit about Hazard. He moved to Chelsea after fecking aorund with United and City, simply because Chelsea won the CL.
Delighted we have Kagawa.

Hazard and Kagawa are different type of players anyway. Oscar would be his direct comparison at Chelsea.

Apparently according to Kicker magazine, Klopp tried to get him back to replace Gotze. He politely declined though.

Next season we'll be all be witnesses to the Rooney-Kagawa-RvP combo.
It's safe to say RvP has settled in nicely already, and next season we should also have a clearer picture of how Rooney & Kagawa fit together, I for one don't find it "impossible" or even difficult for them to co-exist as they both basicaly play the same 2-3 positions and are able to interchange.

Kagawa was always going to take some time to get used to the new style of play, etc, I believe next season we'll all be singing his praises :)

I think, in CL matches, we should just a play a 4-3-3 next year without orthodox wingers, but with attacking wingbacks- Evra and Rafael to provide width in attack.

Play a compact centre.

This seems obsolete when you consider in particular the 'assist-assist' for Van Persie's mental volley. Rooney gets all the credit for that one - Kagawa just shifted it 10 yards to the side for Rooney to smack it 40 yards. :D

of course... but what is important is that he was there nonetheless. Tracked down the ball 30 metres before the Villa player gave away the ball. Eyes on the ball Shinji.

ps. Any other player of the team would passed that ball to the left flank were Giggs was waiting... we are lucky he is left footed haha

Kagawa is to some people on here what Phil Jones is to Fergie. Assist assists and distracting people? fecking hell.

Is this the star Steward Downing is leading?

Making runs which pulls defenders all over the place is very intelligent play though. Most players will simply go wherever they think the ball is going to be. Opening up the defence with movement is just good team play. We don't have many players who do it all that often really. It's obviously not his only trait, but it's fair that it is to be lauded.

Fair play, I just don't think there's any need to exaggerate his contribution when we know he's got it in him to be amazing. To generalise, I feel like these sort of comments are used to big up players with considerably less talent than what Kagawa possesses.

He's had a decent season but he's also a lot better than what he is currently showing. It's not quite happened yet but he's young and there's every chance he'll be top notch next year.

It is but is done by countless players. Giving him credit for distracting a player in the build up to a goal is beyond ridiculous. That's why you'll rarely see it mentioned.

Kagawa's pass to Giggs in the build up for one of the goals was great and deserves credit. The one to Rooney though? gtfo

I really hope Kagawa shines for us next season. I think he's had an alright first season but there's so much more to come from Japan's best player. If SAF utilises him in the same manner as Dortmund, he will score well over 10 goals.

Does he ever get brought on to influence a match? If he's on the bench it always seems like he's one of the last options...strange for a player of his ability.

Kagawa must be wondering what he's done wrong recently? Was it the hat trick? Was it the slick interplay? Was it the nice through balls? He seems so far down the pecking order, for no reason, that its HARD to explain why.

I don't understand the hesitation in giving Kagawa a run of games. He's one of the most talented players in the squad - there is something very wrong at hand if he doesn't start the next match.

I'd really like to see Kagawa playing in a bit more of a deeper role like Clev/Ando were today. That's one thing I've not really understood. It seems that when Kagawa/Rooney play we want them much closer to RVP. I don't get why we can't have them play a little deeper at the head of the midfield. I think it would allow Kagawa at least much more influence as he could carry the ball forward easier and have the wingers ahead of him a bit more rather than him being a head of them. That would allow for more movement from them coming inside. Also it gives the other midfielders a bit more protection.

In all fairness Giggs needs to play his 50000000 game for us, that's way more important than Kagawa getting more PL playing time.

My guess is that Fergie's convinced that Kagawa will become a success no matter what, so he doesn't feel the need to rush things.

Yeah I'd forgotten that. My bad.

It's the end of the season. Clearly Fergie's already looking ahead to next season.

I was surprised Buttner came on ahead of him on the left, does he need the appearance for a medal?

Yeah I think so. Tyler was saying something like now he is on he has had enough appearances for a medal and that teams nowadays get 40 medals.

I'm gonna reserve judgement a little because the fact the title is done could be having an effect. But I still wonder why he does well, starting to look the part, and then doesn't get to play for two matches. Surely it would be a positive thing for him after a season in which he hasn't played that much?

I'm sure Kagawa isn't gutted he didn't get to play this game. He's had a good number of performances this season in the bigger games too. He's not like Hernandez who's struggled to get in the side. Even during the run-in Kagawa featured heavily.

Or conversely, players like Kagawa and Hernandez (intelligent and reasonable fellows that they appear to be,) might just have a little faith in SAF and realize that any decisions he takes are for the good of the team (something that includes developing players at a reasonable pace.) It's not like he doesn't have previous when it comes to successfully developing young, talented players.

Yes but Kagawa is 24. Hardly a young and undeveloped player. He's a brilliant little player already and he showed that at Dortmund. Klopp already did most of the developing part, he just needed time to adjust to the league. He went on a nice run of games, played really well and then he gets completely dropped against 2 big teams in a row. Makes no sense.

Anyone who claims that Fergie's team selections this season make sense to him needs psychiatric help. :D

I feel the teams game plan will change again next season and Kagawa will be a main part. Fergie probably just waiting untill next season.

He's either not over 30 years old enough, or doesn't play consistently poorly enough to merit inclusion.

The last time he played against Villa for example, not only did he run around like some guy only in his mid twenties, but he was linking with the forward players, beating defenders and setting up chances.

There's no room for anything like that at United anymore. It might be classed as entertaining which would be a disaster. What he needs to learn to do is stand still with the ball more, cross it directly off the pitch, and play over hit through balls over the top to no one in particular.
