Manchester United v Sevilla FC - Rio's Testimonial

Everyone was poor apart from Anderson. Quite something.

What?
What fecking match are you watching?

Anderson has constantly gone forward and left huge spaces behind. Januzaj has been our best player by miles. The players don't look arsed.

Because that previous post about the top five was so stupid I dont know what more to say.

Erm, what the feck Jake? Did you see him there grinning at Rio walking down the tunnel? This BT coverage is wank.

Moyes must come away from this thinking that with no Carrick we are very very ordinary in midfield

far too easy for Sevilla and Cleverley/Anderson isn't gonna work against decent quality opposition

does anyone else feel we we be out of the top five next season?

No, I've thought all along that we'd come 3rd. We have a very strong squad (many members of which aren't involved tonight) but a squad that has a couple of gaps that we haven't yet filled. Add to that the massive upheaval of losing probably the best manager of all time, who had his own people and built the club in his image over the last 26 years and the arrival of a manager with no experience of managing a club with such expectations and it was always going to take a while to sort everything out. The quality of our squad and Moyes being a very good manager should just make the transition a lot less problematic.

Caught the end of the half on stream...midfield poor. Buettner poor. Remain gobsmacked how anyone can think Anderson and Cleverley will ever be influential in our midfield.

Don't know what hargreaves is seeing. Anderson is looking good. Our pressing has clearly improved but it's putting on some extra pressure on the defence. Wouldn't look too much into this game. Not the best team we can field and everyone should be wrapped in cotton wool to avoid injury. Januzaj is simply . He'll get a few games in the league this season and I can see him impressing. Love the player

Nice to see Szczesny double jobbing as a pitchside reporter.

Thats Ando in a nutshell. He's a terrible player to have in a midfield two. Give him license and freedom to do what he wants then he can be effective, but he lacks any kind of positional sense or dicipline to play in a top level midfield two.

Their goalkeeper looks a bit shit. We'll win in the second half.

so weird watching a game at Old Trafford without SAFs soothing presence.

And not weird in a good way. I dont like it.

Feel sorry for Cleverley, time and again Ando goes ahead, loses the ball and then doesn't make an effort to go back.

Anderson can be and has been influential in our midfield already.

Thought this could have been a test between Cleverley and Anderson to see who will start on sunday and the start of the season, but both have been pretty poor I think. Anderson's got great energy, and looked a bit better, seeing more of the ball, but he's overhit plenty of passes. Cleverley is aimlessly running around chasing the ball but is getting played around really easily. Neither of them have any sort of composure to speak of. Januzaj looks much more confident and calm on the ball then either of them.

Kagawa has been non-existant, but Hargreaves is going a bit over the top. Couldn't do much else for the header. Valencia has been okay, although you'd want him to have more of an impact considering his experience. Defence all over the place, Smalling and Buttner in particular look lost.

Our defending or lack of is concerning me. I know we have problems in CM. That doesn't excuse the lack of pressure we put on teams. Something we were guilty of last season.
