Adnan Januzaj

Am I the only one who think that the way he play means he will be more injury-prone?

I remember hearing on MUTV a couple of the coaches (Warren Joyce was definitely one) say something similar to this. I think its his dribbling style. He kind of tempts the opponent to try and steal the ball and then changes direction at the last second.

He does however look much less fragile than he did 3 months ago. Seems to have grown and added lots of muscle over the summer break and all of sudden looks more than ready for first team football.

The way he touches the ball and shifts his body around reminds me of RVP.

The way I see it, Januzaj doesn't take lots of quick little touches like a bona fide dribbler would, he's just incredibly efficient at keeping the ball under his control with a minimum number of touches because of his impeccable technique. That analysis from Joyce was a really nice way of putting it, but I don't think it necessarily means he'll get loads of impact injuries. Adnan's a fairly tall lad and, once he fills out, he'll be able use his body to hold off players just like van Persie does now.

I'm gonna be gutted if he doesnt get some serious action this season. He looks absolutely ready made for the first team, dont think he even needs a loan tbh.

Are we allowed to call him a special talent yet? I don't get how he could be described as anything but. He's impressed in every opportunity he's been given and more often than not has always been one of the better players on the field with him always standing out.

I can't imagine how he won't be given a fair share of opportunities this year.

Certainly one of the few bright spots today. Especially in the second half he was magic. I definitely want to see more of him.

feck me he was good today.

More impressive than anything I've seen from him thus far. Who was it that said that he always seems to rise to the occasions, to improve with the level he's playing at? Spot on so far.

Might be that I'm underestimating his chances of making an impact this season. He looks absolute quality.

To loan him out would be criminal! He's got to play as much as possible

You still reckon he will only get 5 appearances this season? I don't care if this was just a friendly, I stand by what I said.

Unlike other young talents we had in the past, I'd like to believe he can be a regular here. He seems to have the mentality and the desire. One thing that impresses me is how much quality he's showing on the ball already. It's there in his movement and his choice of passes.

Keep him here and he may well get more than just the cups this season. That attacking midfield/wide position is open for opportunities.

The thing that impresses me is how calm and smart he is on the ball. Seems to make the right decision most of the time, in addition to his gret technique and passing. Rare to see such composure in a young player like him.

He's in better form than Young and possibly Valencia, not to mention, he's productive as feck.

Such a great technique, control and dynamism, today.

Woody needs to fly over to Manchester and get Adnan to sign a new long term contract.

For me he should start ahead of the likes of Young, Kagawa and Valencia.

He doesn't need a loan.
It's a shame he's probably unlikely to play on Sunday now. He was brilliant tonight. It's great to see him affecting games for the first team in the exact same way that he did for the U21s.
He's special and needs a long term deal.

What disappoints me is he isn't going to start the first/second/any match anytime soon. It really is going to be Moyes choosing names over form. You can't blame him for playing it safe but when Adnan has been one of our best players all tour and Nani/Young/Valencia have done nothing at all. How can they justify starting over him. Especially in the community shield.
I'm obviously not manager of Manchester United but for me the left wing should be Adnan's to lose right now.
Well, we'll wait and see.

I don't know how you can say that when he's showed loads of faith in Januzaj so far.

It's preemptive perhaps. But do you honestly think Januzaj will start any matches in the league anytime soon? I doubt it quite a bit. I'm happy to be proved wrong but I can't see it happening.

I think if Valencia doesn't improve Moyes will have definitely consider Januzaj as an option. I don't see much reason for him to be any more willing to start Zaha over Januzaj on the basis of names/reputations and I'm fairly confident we'll see plenty of Zaha, so yeah I think there's a chance of it.

Somewhat laughable defending but you gotta love that touch to bring it down under control and he picks out the perfect ball.

Moyes can't lose by playing him. If he takes his chance great! If he doesn't perform, it's good experience but most people will be receptive to him being given an opportunity. Moyes has talked about youth and even if it starts as a 'PR' exercise, if Januzaj does the business - why not?

About £300k, if I remember correctly

Nice. It's always more of a gamble to buy them young but I guess if one in ten turns out to be good, you'll at least get your money back. And with this guy a possible 1st teamer.

They must be putting something in the water in Belgium.

If he plays like today he's not going to be held back. I did not anticipate that kind of performance against that level of quality.

I was particularly impressed by his performance in the second half as a striker. Handled the physical side of things really well.

Hadn't seen much of him before the pre-season, probably the biggest positive coming out of it. Genuinely excited to see how good he'll be.

Well, we'll wait and see.

Nani was the best player against AIK before he got subbed because of his hamstring.

I'd love a gif of his dribbling that came a little later. Resulted in a Büttner shot being saved closed to the line and a Carrick shot being saved by the goalkeeper.

Here's a video of his highlights against Sevilla.

I haven't actually seen him live yet so that's the first time really.. All you can say is wow, be looks accomplished.

He needs to bulk up and improve on his speed/acceleration but he is blessed with a great first touch and balance. Also what I find impressive is that for an 18 y.o playing with people twice his age, he wasn't fazed by it. Great composure -- doesn't snatch at the ball when he shoots.
Maybe not getting a branded creative midfielder will be a blessing in disguise for some.

I keep having these visions of Moyes starting the season off with Januzaj, Lingard, Zaha, Jones and Fabio in the team and us losing 3-1 in the first game and everyone writing Moyes and the team off. Of course, we then go on to do the double.
