The only thing that worries me is whether Fellaini can improve while at United. We know he's good but he needs to improve on his consistency and creativity. Having the same manager, and the same coaching team? Hmmmm.... time will tell I suppose

I don't see anything wrong with his consistency. Creativity, yes, he could improve in that area, but he'll never be a creative force in midfield. That's not his role and I don't think anyone expects that of him. Having a much better team around him and playing at Champions League level will force him to make a step up and I guess we'll soon find out if he has that in him.

Anyone any happier with this deal now that it appears we paid the exact amount his release clause was worth, and not the £27.5mil as initially suggested?

Everton have denied that, and in Daniel Taylor's article yesterday defending the club's transfer dealings he said we paid the £27.5m. If we only paid the £23.5m I think the club would have told Taylor considering they clearly briefed him on that article.

There were a few publications ran with the "Fellaini transfer request gave Everton an extra £4mil, meaning he cost United £23.5mil but the deal was worth £27.5mil to Everton" all at the same time. Who briefed them?

I'm guessing someone at United did, but stopped pushing that line once Everton came out and categorically denied it, which was probably unexpected. Henry Winter and Daniel Taylor both did big pieces in defense of our transfer dealings yesterday which clearly came from the club and neither of them mentioned it, if it was true, they would have done considering it's the biggest farce of all. Actually, I think it's the only farce, but others seem to disagree.

I thought it was pretty accepted after the Everton statement that we paid the full £27.5m to them, it's just that Fellaini handing in his transfer request meant he waived his loyalty bonus, which actually saved Everton even more money.

What happened to the old idea of papers talking shit? It seems to be the new conspiracy theory that every story printed has been briefed by someone. United probably keep their distance from most of these reporters.
It's not a 'conspiracy theory' to think the club, after being bashed by all corners of the media, decided to go on the offensive and brief the chief football writers of the Telegraph and Guardian, who then wrote detailed articles defending the club's transfer policy, in fact that's what press offices at major organisations are supposed to do.

I don't know how anyone can fail to be excited by the prospect of this guy in a United shirt. His impact will be immense from day one and I'm willing to stake my much heralded reputation on that.

Moyes on Fellaini - 'He's an excellent technician'

You tell em' Dave!

I'm delighted we got the big lad. My new favourite player at the club just because most of you cnuts hate him. Fellainimania all the way.
