Liverpool

Joe Allen is starting to come into the form he showed at Swansea, & with us for the first 2 or 3 months. He recycles the ball very well, & moves it very quickly. Rodgers has a 'problem' on his hands if continues this type of form. Gerrard's performances away from home thus far haven't been the best. He's ideal when we're at home though against sides that park the bus, because his deliveries into the box can unlock any defence.

We'll have a better idea after the City & Chelsea games as to whether or not our performance against Spurs was just a flukey one-off. If the midfield trio of Allen, Henderson, & Lucas can stand toe to toe with the best that those 2 sides can offer, then I really think Gerrard will struggle to get straight back into the side.

It's a fecking big 'IF' though :)

You could also play Stevie on the right or as a number 10.

Suarez has been convinced to stay then and this is quite a statement from the club. They clearly mean business so are we looking at the rise of Liverpool again? Nowhere near what they were in the 80's but as a club that can challenge.

He's hardly the loyal sort and can only carry Liverpool so far. Besides, I find it hard to believe he's done a complete U-turn on all the rubbish he was spouting in the summer.

They definitely look a team really on the up. If they can add a couple more top players they could be genuine contenders. We should aim at trying to finish ahead of them this season though even if that looks unlikely ATM.

Players have done u-turns before. Wayne Rooney for instance.

If they don't get Champions League he'll be off in the summer regardless of the new contract or not.

Isn't it funny what a 200,000 per week salary can do? As long as Liverpool can match the wages on offer, he will stay there. They are heading the right way at the moment, unfortunately.

They don't have the money to pay players that can turn them into genuine contenders. Their best hope would be to gamble on young players and hope it pays off like Coutinho.

If he wanted Champions League football, he would have stayed at Ajax. He'll stay at Liverpool as long as they continue to pay him the money he wants, whether it's sustainable for them is another matter.

I'm not so sure about this. He is entering his prima and if he wants to play and shine in the CL, it has to be soon.

It's great news for Liverpool that they've pinned Suarez down on a long-term contract, but all that means in this day and age, is that they are in a better bargaining position if clubs are interested in Suarez in January or the Summer. Still wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he left in the Summer - either way Liverpool can coax as much as possible out of a club.

I still think Suarez will have entered some sort of get out clause in there. Perhaps pertaining to UCL qualification. In any case it's good news for 'Pool. They need to start doing something funny again, haven't laughed at them in weeks.

I don't see how this deal is anything but a good thing for the club.

It's an absolute lighthouse signal for the club to keep them away from the rocks. As much as I despise the guy, if they can get top four and keep him at the club next summer could be really interesting.

I'm going to go balls out and say Liverpool will win the title in the next 3 seasons.

Really? Nah. Gerrard will be done by then. They'd need a much better defence. Three seasons? No chance.

The signal of intent this time by paying the wages rather than taking the transfer fee, along with two or three good transfer windows could easily see them as being strong enough. As much as we slag them, for foreign players they are still a big name and a big draw thanks to that history.

Great deal for them either way. If he does stay long term, they've got one of the best forwards in the world and probably the league's best player as well. If he leaves at the end of this season, they're going to get a massive transfer fee which they can use to add more depth to their overall squad, unless they squander it like when the new owners first came in.

I don't want my dislike of Liverpool to cloud my judgement, but I would still be massively surprised if Suarez is still there within the next three years. Without him, I really couldn't see them winning the league within the next few years.

An elite player like Suarez is destined for a Madrid or Barcelona.

Bayern and Madrid both need a top striker, there's not many of them about, is there? I'd say Suárez is a more viable option than others to be honest.

He won't Liverpool for a club like Arsenal if they make the CL after a mega deal. But he would be willing to ditch them for Barca, Real or Bayern even if they win the title. I don't see Barca spending big money too soon after Neymar (unless they go mad and sell Messi) and Bayern even being rich are not going to go for 60m+ transfers. So really it will be down to Real. Though I won't be surprised if City put in a bid.

Oh that prediction is 100% dependant on that pissant still being there.

It's certainly a welcome sign of intent from the club. People will look & see us progressing in the league table as well as tying down our best player; it'll certainly make us more attractive to prospective signings than languishing in 7th.

Suarez is reportedly on £150-£200k.

Money wasn't the reason we missed out on Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa & Willian in the summer either.

I wish you'd got Willian as he's shite.

I don't think that Mkhitaryan is pulling up any trees for Borrusia Dortmund either. Another player were were 'supposedly' after for big money. Couldn't understand the hype surrounding Willian. Just 4 caps for a Brazil side that isn't exactly bursting with talent.

The general opinion of most people is: more signings & most money spent = more chance of success. This isn't always the case. Spurs being a classic case in point. I'd rather see my club going for a modest spend & bring in young players who are hungry, & with something to prove.

Mkhitaryan has looked very good at Dortmund. Don't k ow where you got that idea from.

How's suso doing at alneria? Think he will be a big talent for you guys.

Not seen him, but he's apparently been excellent. I really like Suso so I hope he comes back and isn't sold. He's in the last year of his contract next year and I'll imagine he'd want decent playing time. That shouldn't be a problem providing we get into Europe.
