I think they played most of 2010/11 together, when we won the title. If I recall they built up a pretty good partnership. Terrible on the ball though, both of them. It's basically as good a team as we can put out right now, which is a bit sad.

Thanks. Yeh I'd expect it to be very sound defensively, but lacking the on the ball side of things that a player like evans or rio used to bring

Nothing would make me happier, he actually plays well most of the time and that's why moyes keeps playing him, it's his atrocious crossing that's hurting us and the opposition fullbacks.
He probably reads the caf in spanish wonder he doesn't slit his wrists, well a few here would help him

Lingard on the bench

Really hope he gets some minutes. Would love to see him play a part. Looking forward to this more now!

What do you mean by playing well? Slowing down attacks, being very wasteful, costing goals at RB, a stupid sending off? I wish Zaha would get a game, even if he's a little raw at least he's got some unpredictability and fluency in his game.

Good team otherwise, hope we see Lingard or Zaha off the bench.

Considering Young and Nani are out, I'll be more worried if Valencia is still starting come August.

Zaha has it in him to play slightly less shite than Valencia, I'm sure.

It's not exactly helping his confidence to continuously get dropped when at least one of our wingers plays absolutely gash in pretty much every game.

Oh well, at least Cleverley isn't playing. That's something.

He would be unpredictable, which is the problem with United at the moment with Valencia, very predictable.

I just hope Januzaj isn't told to stay within an inch of the line all afternoon

There's really nobody else who could have started in his place though. Moyes won't put zaha there in such an important game, and considering our current form and he's likely low on confidence as well. Our only option was to have kagawa and januzaj on wings and welbeck and Hernandez up front but it would have been a. Disjointed performance probably.

Not sure I agree with that. Zaha would be hungry and have something to prove, and generally the opposite of demotivated in my view.

Team I wanted to see Valencia aside although atm not much other choice. I really hope we allow kagawa/januzaj to tuck in and play of each other. Might be good if Valencia tucks in as we've seen at times as well.

It's not Valencia's tucking in that's the problem. He has failed to deliver in possession far to often that's the concern

I wouldn't be surprised. I hope he has a good game today but I've been hoping that for 18 months. It's more concerning that we're letting a young player who we paid £15m rot on the bench whilst Valencia continues playing mediocre to say the least.

Fletcher and Carrick have never played well together. Static slow awful football.

No width at all.

What is the use in playing a system which focuses on width if you have shown little capability of being able to exploit such?

And unless we're going to see greater movement from the players and diversity to the attack it soon becomes very predictable for an opposing defence.

The team is what it is. We couldn't expect much different in these circumstances.

I'm more concerned about our gameplan today. We've all seen the reports on the football we're displaying these days. Very little creative play and penetration from the middle. Far too much goes out wide and ends up nowhere. I'd like to see us mix things up and try to pass our way through Swansea. Let's make some runs in behind and play defence splitting passes.

Atleast he's dropped Cleverley. Sadly he doesn't have anyone inventive to bring in his place.

I agree with you and as a supporter, I would have loved to see it.
But as a manger, 3 losses in a row, would you start a front 4 of:
Welbeck
Januzaj kagawa zaha

There's very, very little experience there, and all apart from januzaj have been off form the last 2 games (ok zaha is unknown how he would play). If this was football manager and we as fans would pick the team, then I'd play zap, but it's really important for moyes not to lose, and Rafael behind Valencia has been pretty good in the past. Trust me when I say I don't like seeing Valencia play for us, but it was the logical choice here given our other options.

I'm really pleased with the line-up. Looking forward to seeing Kagawa and Januzaj linking up.

I don't know how to feel about this match. Not confident at all but then again some reaction is expected from the players even if some dreadful ones keep starting.

Is Anderson injured again?
I love him but if he never plays, whats the point of having him around?

Valencia will dominate and get 5 assists today just to shut you all up. Jesus wept.

It still won't justify starting him.

Can a win be a loss?

Exactly. And we have two offensively brilliant fullbacks who can provide plenty of width if this is the issue.

Well, not tonight, then.

Zaha played in some pretty high pressure situations whilst at Palace which is more than could be said for Januzaj at the start of the season, the contrast in management of the two has been rather bewildering.

Wilf would run at opposing defence and put a little fear into them as well, which is certainly something Moyes should be reaching out for with the way visiting sides spend much of the game on the front foot these days.
