Arsenal vs. Manchester United

I just hope we can take points off Arsenal, shake it up a bit more at the top and hopefully contribute to a downward spiral from Arsenal.

No chance of fourth, but it would be quite nice to contribute to a calamity collapse from Arsenal.

Tube strike is going ahead (Bob Crow hero) but so is the game.

The police won't let it go on if there is no way of getting to King's Cross/Arsenal. If Victoria/Piccadilly are both off, then there's no chance.

People have to be able to physically get to the game. At this point in time, my plan is to walk from work in Victoria to the ground.

Why can't they use the overground routes? That and at least a partial service on the Victoria Line could be workable if not exactly comfortable.

I'll be supporting United in this game. If we win ours and Arsenal drop points we'll be 3/4 points off them.

I can see us getting spanked.

You should do but games between the classic big beasts of English football - Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd, Everton and Liverpool are always problematic.

Man city,Chelsea have had no problem at home against us. We we lucky we met Liverpool early on away. Back then we still were 50% Fegie/50 Moyes.

You will beat us easily enough.

Arsenal are likely to shit themselves. I mean, can you even imagine how embarassing it must be to lose to Moyes' United twice in the same season?

Since we're fecked anyways, we might as well experiment. I say throw all our best players into the same starting XI. No Young or Valencia. Mata in the no.10 role.

-------------- DDG -----------
Rafael - Smalling - Evans - Evra
------- Carrick - Rooney ------
--- Januzaj - Mata - Kagawa --
------------- RVP -------------

Good luck with that, be ready to be frustrated/hate moyes even more/ watch some extremely dull football and be pissed off at it instead of laughing at it.

Massive United fan for this one. This is one of the reasons you have Mata, to take points off of Arsenal, City and Liverpool.

Strangely, I believe we can take points off them...

I hope you are right, I always think United will win, but meanwhile, can I have some of what you are smoking

Its not just the losing, its the way that we are losing that hurts the most

I can see us beating them which would make todays result even more tragic. One step forward three back! Not really though, they will beat us with ease but it would be like United to go surprise everyone.

----------De Gea----------
Rafael-Smalling-Evans--Evra
-------Carrick--Jones------
Mata-------Rooney---Young
------------RvP------------

Just win.

Sadly I won't be watching this live, in fact I won't be able to check the result until FT or the team news before kickoff.

Not sure which is worse, watching an important game or having absolutely no idea what is going on.

Draft in Gibbs, Rosicky, Bendnter (had enough of Giroud and he never does anything against a top side) and Podolski and may be we just might win this.

Arsenal really need to win, while another defeat really means absolutely nothing for us at this stage. The players looked utterly despondent at full time today, and Van Persie aside, I can't see them being up for this.

The build up to this reminds me of the Spurs match a few years back, beaten 4-0 in Milan, dumped out of the cup by Sunderland and our boys responded in a big way that day against Spurs.

Here's hoping for another response

Our midfield is so slow I'm not sure how we'll stay in this one, is Jones going to be fit? If he is we'll at least have someone to run around after Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshire and Oxy. I think Rooney will have to play very deep to help out as well and Januzaj showed today that he needs to start over Young and Valencia.

De Gea

Rafael
Smalling
Vidic
Evra

Jones
Carrick
Rooney

Mata
RvP
Januzaj

RVP is one of the biggest culprits for seeming lost, Mata is the one whos been doing all your running lately. 3 assists.

If hes on form he always seems to turn up in the big games, and vs Arsenal.

Heart says 1-1 head says 4-1.

If the starting line-up is not:

de Gea
Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick
Rooney
Mata Januzaj
van persie

Or

de Gea
Rafael Smalling Vidic Evra
Jones Carrick Fletcher
Mata Rooney
van Persie

Then we will have next to no chance to win this match. Quote me on it, bet me on it.

I expect Moyes to drop Mata and not start Januzaj in favour of Valencia and Young, however. :) I don't think this match matters much any more though, as not beating Fulham has probably cost us any chance of catching Liverpool. We're just playing this season out now and hoping to God that we somehow win the Champions League - I think that is more likely than us finishing fourth at this stage.

You're asking for Giroud to be dropped because he does nothing v top sides yet you also want Podolski in the team?

Mata wasn't great against Fulham today, but Mata & van Persie together have three assists and three goals in those games respectively. It's Rooney who hasn't been able to join the hunt. Firstly he only came on at the end against Cardiff, and he's been moved into central midfield in the other two games rather than just playing the front four every fan wants to see. It simply hasn't happened yet and I don't see why Moyes wants to continually let Young and Valencia interfere with it.

(Obviously talking Januzaj as the other player here who's been blocked out by Young/Valencia).

This should be fun. No not fun, awful.

Just please, less crossing.

Admittedly Mata was poor today, but I still think Mata is the hungriest player in there right now, he has a point to prove for a start.
