Canales on the bench for Sociedad, what? When did this happen?

So, that's what he's been up to lately.

Love the commentator on beIN. It's simply impossible for him to talk like a normal person.

Wasnt getting a game at Valencia, which is shocking because their attacking players bar Jonas have been poor. Having said that Isco didnt get games at Valencia either

 Get used to that one, we'll be seeing it often.

You have to be a special kind of retard to "clear" the ball into the danger area.

Yeah, Tata has problems that look like they aren't going away anytime soon. City will undoubtedly be the favorites going into the CL tie. I'm not quite with Ten Cate but there is something odd going on internally within the squad

Rugby tackled

Watching the after-match stuff last night was entertaining.

Arbeloa should have given away a penalty and been sent off, but as his victim was Costa there was a general air of, "those who live by the sword, die by the sword," reaction to it. I said during the match it reminded me of some classic Serie A, off the ball niggling stuff. The two managers demonstrated their lack of hypocrisy if nothing else.
Ancelotti: I wish we always played like that, perfect defending.
Simeone: They played well, congratulations to them.

Mascherano should have given away a penalty and been sent off, but the ref missed that. However in Spain, the ref's report is released to the press so we do know that the reason got Martinez got sent off after receiving a yellow card initially was because he told the ref to, "stick it where the sun doesn't shine." I hope you appreciate I've translated that in the most google sensitive way that I could.

There was also a bit of aftermath chat on Barca, partly because the last night crowd was 38,500 and partly because some of the players don't think the team are getting the appreciation they deserve. However I'll put that stuff in the Barcelona thread later, because it wasn't really about the Copa match.

Kicking off at 9pm Spain / 8pm UK

Aranzubía; Manquillo, Alderweireld, Miranda, Insúa; Koke, Mario Suárez, Diego Ribas, José Sosa; Cebolla Rodríguez y Raúl García.

Vs

Casillas; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Arbeloa; Xabi Alonso, Modric, Illarra; Cristiano, Isco y Bale.

Can Atletico make a comeback from being 3-0 down?

No.

However, stranger things have happened, even to Ancelotti. As Milan manager he beat Deportivo La Coruna 4-1, only to lose the away game 4-0. In a CL QF :D

What an idiotic foul, completely brainless. That's the tie definitely over now. Unsaveable pen from Ronaldo.

Soft penalty award.
Ronaldo makes it 0-1, that's 4 up on aggregate. including an away goal, and Atletico will need 5 to win.

AKA Game Over

Reckless challenge on Bale after great linkup between him and Carvajal. Another clear penalty and another one dispatched by Ronaldo in the same corner.

The wheels have fallen off at Atletico in the past week or so. An excellent first XI but a thin squad in terms of quality in key positions their undoing.
