West Ham vs. Manchester United

I agree completely with everything in your post other than this. Carrick is so reluctant to get forwards and seems to much prefer sitting as deep as possible these days. He needs a rocket up his arse.

Plus I really want Fellaini to grab a goal, it would do his confidence a world of good.

Yeah he does seem a bit cautious but I think if Fellaini did sit it might let Carrick push up a bit, I don't expect him making runs forwards as its just not his style but just get him in a better position to put through more creative passes, most times Carrick is the deepest midfielder and his options are limited because of it (plus he has also lacked drive himself at times). I think though if Fellaini played closer to him, and with Mata hopefully playing deeper than Rooney typically would it would help.

There'd still be scope for Fellaini to push on and there's always set pieces for him. So far though he gets pushed forward so often to win the aerial pass from the goal kick that he ends up so far from Carrick.

I hope we see him do something about our lack of invention up front recently. Yes we scored 3 in midweek but, and without meaning to be fussy, only one was from open play. We've had issues over recent weeks with RVP, Mata, Rooney and to some extent Januzaj looking a bit like ill-fitting jigsaw pieces. I hope this unintended 'opportunity' presented by RVP's absence will not just see the same old system but with one player swapped.

I have no idea who will play. So hard to predict with our 44 unique lineups this season. Hope Kagawa gets some game time after he missed out during the week. But Mata will play and I wanna see Welbeck and Januzaj too.

I really hope he gives mata a game at no 10, lets see what he can do there over 90 mins.
Think he played there vs Cardiff? Or maybe two games back then? Don't think he was good but he's settled in a bit better now. He roams where he wants where ever he plays so barely matters. Welbeck is more important player for me tonight, give us some dynamics

Team should be...

---------------De Gea---------------
Rafael---Ferdinand---Jones---Evra
Valencia---Carrick---Cleverley---Mata
---------------Rooney
---------------Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Buttner, Fletcher, Fellaini, Januzaj, Young, Hernandez

Valencia probably still sees as much as a blind from Jericho so I'd wager he won't play.
I'd say the team will be as follows: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Jones, Evra, Januzaj, Cleverley, Carrick, Rooney, Mata and Welbeck. Only doubts concerning Rio and Cleverley. We may therefore throw Fellaini instead of Tom for his physical presence which is of huge importance when you face Allardyce's sides.

Official XI confirmed for West Ham: #WHUFC Adrian, McCartney, Nolan (c), Tomkins, Carroll, Taylor, Noble, Collins, Demel, Diame, Downing

Official XI for United: de Gea, Rafael, Jones, Mata, Rooney (c), Carrick, Young, Fletcher, Kagawa, Buttner, Fellaini

Carrick in defence then it seems.

De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Carrick, Buttner; Mata, Fletcher, Fellaini, Young; Kagawa; Rooney.

:nervous:

Subs: Lindegaard, Evra, Nani, Cleverley, Januzaj, Hernandez, Welbeck.

Carrick at CB and Fletcher / Fellaini in CM with Young/Kagawa/Mata behind Rooney.

Welbeck in for Young and that would pretty much be my team. I suppose he did run himself into the ground the other night though.

Glad that Kagawa is playing, interested to see how he and Mata link up

Edit - missed the fact that Carrick is in defence - worried about that with Carroll up top

#mufc subs vs @whufc_official: Lindegaard, Evra, Nani, Cleverley, Januzaj, Hernandez, Welbeck.

Central defender missing and with Carrick at CB, could be fun.

No centre backs on the bench.

de Gea
Rafael Jones Carrick Buttner
Young Fellaini Fletcher Kagawa
Mata
Rooney

I'm guessing? Although Mata could be shunted to the wing too.

If Vidic, Smalling and Evans are all out there's not a lot Moyes can do, really. Rio can't play 3 games in less than a week.

Carroll might have some fun.

The hell is that? Weird lineup, buttner left back, Carrick center back, fletcher fellaini midfield duo, kagawa starting, Rooney up top?
Looks like it has some really good potential for some great football. Think we might see a good performance here regardless of so many fringe players in or out of position. Has a good balance to it I think. Defensive frailties covered by 2 defensive mids.

Vidic suspended.
Guess Evans and Smalling are injured and Rio can't play 3 in a week and is being rested for City.
