De Gea; Rafael, Jones, Vidic, Buttner; Young, Fellaini, Fletcher, Kagawa; Mata, Rooney.

Good team. We'll defeat Villa and get thrashed by Bayern.

Hang on, just saw Ashley Young in the lineup. feck off.

In fairness I quite like that team. Presumably he's saving Januzaj for Bayern but he's not played in so long you wonder if he'd not be better off getting an hour today for sharpness.

Good side bar Buttner being in there, expect it's to rest Evra for the big Bayern game in midweek in fairness so actually might be a good call there.

CONFIRMED MUFC XI:

de Gea

Rafael
Jones
Vidic
Buttner

Young
Fletcher
Fellaini
Kagawa

Mata
Rooney

SUBS: Amos, Carrick, Giggs, Nani, Januzaj, Welbeck, Hernandez.

Nice fluid stuff up top for Young to break down when he's solicited. Buttner getting a run out before Bayern, normal. Hope the team can perform well, need a morale boost.

I would have hoped Moyes would have played Rafael at left back for the Bayern game, but Buttner's inclusion is a clear indication that he'll be featuring against Bayern.

Good side, only disappointment is this clearly indicates Buttner is going to be playing against Bayern. No matter how he picked on the right was always going to cause consternation, it's almost like people forget the wingers we have at the club. Welbeck and Valencia nailed on starters against Bayern I would guess.

Play Rafael at left back and then play who at the right back?

I think it because Evra is out for the CL tie. No point shoving Buttner in that game without giving him a run out first.

Agreed, but I assumed West Ham last week was his pre-Bayern run-out, thought Evra would play today.

So he would be on the bench if he was not fit?
He didn't say whether he was, or wasn't fit. He was laughing at the poster for demanding to play Nani when they didn't know if he was fit or not.

So we've got Bayern in 3 days time and he's playing pretty much the strongest side he can against Aston Villa to keep us in the race for 6th place.

Tell me that team selection isn't based on the fact he knows just how fecking desperate a situation he is in right now?

Probably based on the fact they've just been stuffed by City and could do with getting back on the pitch and gaining some confidence, just a hunch though.

I am sure he will play Welbeck against Bayern, but for some reason he just refuses to give him some playing time in these "easy" games where he could score and build his confidence for the big game.
But I guess it's ok as long as we are playing Rooney in every game.

Valencia.

So it's better to play a right back at left back and a right winger at right back rather than playing Rafael and Buttner. Madness.

I want nothing less than a dominant performance that batters Villa all day.

Of course, it was but a fleeting dream while I was sleeping, but if it were to become reality... I'll be elated. A little confidence boost before facing the juggernaut's blitzkreig on Tuesday.

At least he's giving Butner game time so come the Bayern match he won't get dominated as bad. I guess that shows forward planning. Also after last week why is Young getting another game?
