Surely that performance has earned him starting LB for the rest of the season? Brilliant.

Very good performance by him today. Robben couldn't outpace him and he was very alert throughout.

He played well. I thought he was decent against West Ham and not as bad as made out against Villa as well.

I'd have Evra straight back in the side for the second leg though. Buttner's cover, not first choice.
I thought he was fantastic tonight, he's playing against one of the best wingers in world football, he made him look like Ashley Young.

Defended decently, gave the ball away a lot 33% accurate from 12 passes. Could have been a lot worse

Excellent. He should be very proud, and I hope his injury isn't too bad.

He did great against probably the most dangerous opposition we've faced on that wing this season. He can be proud of himself.

Great performance from him tonight.

That's the third game in a row where he's done well. He's starting to prove the doubters wrong, imo. He might not be United starting XI quality yet, but he's certainly a great backup to have. I'm starting to see why we let Fabio go. Büttner is miles ahead of Fabio when it comes to defending.

Should be our back up LB in the next couple years. No need to go buying 2 LB's.

The player came inside a lot which we should have expected, meaning Carrick/Fellaini and the CBs were the ones dealing with him for the most part. Leaving Buttner to deal with the overlapping fullback Rafinha.

But he did manage to get back and make at least 2 tackles on Robben as well on break aways

Didn't expect this performance tbf. Some of the second time tackles

Absolutely great tonight. For a player who most consider quite abysmal he raised his game to a shocking standard. Well done lad.

I was bloody worried when he came off. Worried, when Buttner came off. He was great tonight, kept Robben quiet for most of the match. I really didn't see that kind of performance from him.

Should start in Munich. Outstanding tonight, and Robben grew in influence once he went off.

Made a fantastic interception from a cross early on to deny a goal. Without that we're looking at a very different tie.

That's fair. At the start of the game I thought his nerves were going go get the better of him, considering the amount of game time he's had recently, I had a genuine fear that he was going to be embarrassed tonight, he done well.

I'd rather he played the 2nd leg than Evra based on tonight. He was sensible, and looked quicker off the mark than Evra to be able to keep up with Bayern's pace.

I love the guys attitude. I dont think he will ever be a first choice for a United. But a backup left back, maybe? Certainly can have a good career for himself somewhere.

He was crap with the ball but surprisingly good in the defence. Fair play to him.

Gave his all there tonight. I'd start him in the 2nd leg as well purely because I think he's more solid when it comes to defending that what Evra is these days.

His attacking play is impressive, with a bit of moulding he might have a chance. I was very impressed with him tonight (once his nerves went)

If he plays like that every week then he will be a good player for us, was excellent in defending.

Definitely agree with the good performance comments! Very surprising, our defence looked awful on paper.
