Carrick and Fletcher provide so little in attack. All they do is pass it to the wingers who either whip it in or pass it back to them. It's so predictable.
Ashley Young has utterly ineffective. Makes me want to cry that he now plays down the wings for us like the legendary wingers of yore did.
It has nothing to do with sentimentality really, if Fletcher doesn't play then who does? It's also a bit of an issue that our full backs contribute nothing going forward because it makes us very easy to play against if we don't play wingers (see the Everton game where Kagawa and Nani were really tucked in and Buttner and Smalling made no use of the space created).
