I thought he was laughably bad tonight. There were a few moments where, if I were his teammate, i'd be livid with him. He won't go in on a 50/50, he shows so little heart its almost sad to see him play for Germany who are generally the opposite of that softness physically and mentally.
Pretty anonymous again tonight. Usurped (by far) by Müller, Kroos, Khedira and even Schürrle, who only played 45 minutes.

Kroos was at the heart of the German team. Ozil has been pretty mediocre, albeit in a wider role but he's not suited to a 4-3-3 without a number 10.

I'm talking about today. In a remarkable game with 7 goals for the Germans I thought he was extremely poor in comparison to his teammates, and he showed little care or desire to make any attempt at 50/50 balls. I think he's a fantastic player, probably the best #10 in Europe and Arsenal should be overjoyed to have him, but sometimes his attitude is frustrating. Today he was bad, for me.
His passing tonight was exceptional, I thought. That outside of the boot to Draxler was amazing. His assist was nice too. He's got so much ability.

His fitness levels remain a concern, but he's an exceptionally talented footballer. He has had a poor World Cup, but he might win it so who cares?
Needs to be dropped for Schurrle frankly. He isn't a shadow of himself at the moment, nor of the player who burst onto the scene at the world cup 4 years ago.

He's one of my favourite players, but he needs to start dominating games again. He needs to have a team built around him and play to his strengths. Incredible footballer but needs to man up a bit.

Personally I rate him very highly. He played a massive part in the Madrid team that got 100 points and set the goal record record and which also got to three semi finals in a row. His performances in big games is frustrating for a player with such talent. He has had some good games vs Barcelona and even in some of his bad performances against them he still got assists so there is definitely hope for him in that department. I would definitely rate him to be at least as good as silva. I would say that in the last four seasons this the only one that silva outperformed him. From 10/11 to 12/13 I would say ozil was better not just in the league but in Europe also where city have been pathetic to be honest. People seem to be forgetting silvas 12/13 season. The thing about ozil is even if he is poor he is still productive and can get an assist and has been one of the most consistent playmakers over the last few years. The number of assists he has gotten over the last few years is ridiculous and with sanchez now and maybe another striker instead of giroud that will only improve I feel.
Can understand why he's starting ahead of Schurrle. 20% of me would rather see Schurrle starting ahead of Ozil. 100% of my would rather see Schurrle on the bench rather than Ozil when the game needs changing.

The exaggeration in this thread is unreal. Ozil hasn't had a poor World Cup though. He's had a good World Cup, and has done well playing on the left. He wasn't great today, but he certainly wasn't poor - it was a good performance. He played a couple of great passes, displayed an excellent first touch, and did what he was meant to do. The one thing I have against him is his finishing. That's something he and Wenger will have to work on.

As bias as I am against him he is a good player and he had a good game tonight, I still think he's overrated but some of his best performances for Madrid (which has set his standard) have left me without words, I just hope he doesn't rediscover his Madrid form at Arsenal, as strong as any team might be next season an on form Ramsay, Sanchez (if they get him) and Özil will be able to beat anyone on their day.
He should've dinked it over the keeper when he had that chance. It was totally on and would've been sublime.
