This is like Fabregas from last season, where he's our preferred choice and we are actively pursuing him, but we know that there's a very good chance that we don't sign him. This is one of several reasons why we've went out of our way to keep our distance from this story.
If people expect Vidal and we miss out and sign De Jong for example, it really puts De Jong in a tough spot. I reckon last summer had we signed any one of Herrera,Thiago or Fabregas and then signed Fellaini on top of that, people (myself included) wouldn't have been so upset with the Fellaini transfer from the start.
I honestly think the hardest part of this is to convince Vidal to leave Juventus, rather than to convince Juventus to sell.
