Louis van Gaal | Manchester United manager

Am I the only one hoping a journalist asks a stupid question just to see how LVG reacts?

Hypothetical but if van Gaal goes on and wins the EPL in all three season under his contract, would you guys still want Giggs as manager in four years time or would you expect the club to offer van Gaal a new contract with say 5-10 years as manager?

Also, I'm aware that Giggs believes that he will take over the job in four years time but would you guys think he would be happy to let van Gaal remain as coach if van Gaal does go on to win the EPL and possibly the CL during his stint?
Says who?

I don't think it is constructive at this stage (his first-second day of employment to preempt what's going to happen under his reign and looking into the future in such fashion. It's meaningless at this point in time to assume a long term employment when we have not even kicked a ball. At the end of the day, the club is running a lucrative business which function and forecast etc will be dictated by success and profit. Giggs will only be valued if he is an asset to the club, as a future manager or assistant to a successful manager. He will only be "promoted" when the time comes, or when he's needed. When will that be is unknown at this time.

Setting a time line is neither here nor there. Beside, LvG is a foreigner whose desire to work and stay in England for extended period of time would not be as strong as say, Giggsy who's a local since the age of 13-14. The club will have decisions to make when the time comes for sure. LvG will certainly be part of the process if he's being successful here.

Genuinely believe that the journalists will be too scared to ask him a controversial question.

Who in their right mind would want Giggs to take-over if LVG makes it 3-in-a-row? You'd have to be absolutely bonkers to think that's a good idea.

That's is friggin genius @Olly

quite, the press here, particularly the tabloids are feral, they'll ask anything, no matter how pathetic or stupid.
Expect a few experimental questions. They'll be testing the water to see what they can and can't get away with. They're going to bring up Fergie, Moyes, the style of football Holland played during the World Cup and whether or not he is the right man to get United back in the Champions League.

I hope Ryan doesn't manage united tbh atleast not within 8 years
For some reason there is this need for constant sentimentality regarding Giggs one day taking over as manager of United. If he ever steps foot in the United dugout as first team manager in more than a caretaker role before he's even attempted to gain any management experience elsewhere then everyone involved in the appointment needs to take a good look at themselves. We're in the habit of winning football games and being successful, not appointing managers because we want them to be successful. It's the fast track to footballing wilderness. There is no room for sentimentality in football I'm afraid.

In case you missed it:

Wow. Had me captivated from start to finish! Key points I inferred where that firstly he will need time here to get things going. It won't be a instant impression I think. Secondly, he seems to love Strootman (guess we knew that already). I think we're nailed on to get him once he is fit.

We should be in luck then, as its almost guaranteed at least one of them will
It'd be funny if one of them tells Van Gaal who he is and who he writes for. According to the Dutch, if you tell him your name, he'll remember it and use it against you in some way shape of form.

God I absolutely hate this thundercnut. So so fecking bitter about having to report onSky Sports for so long while we cleaned up every trophy

I feel your pain I can't stand this man either and turn channel or mute volume anytime he is on a bit like when Johnny Vaun comes on talksport I switch channels immediately.

Yeah, we're most definitely signing up Strootman.

People talk about Strootman as though the only obstacle to that transaction is the time delay. But is there any reason to think getting Strootman in Jan would be any easier than getting Vidal now? Presumably Roma are rather keen to keep hold of him.
