Spot on. I dont know why we're not in for him but i think its clear as day we're not. If we're playing 3-4-3 (as LVG has confirmed is the plan) who is our alternative to Herrera?

If we buy De Jong (as i suspect) then he's a Fletch/Carrick alternative.
Really don't know but maybe he wants a more defensive player and he could also be waiting for Strootman. As you say, unless United are lying Vidal won't come here. I'd be happy with Strootman but we need someone else in the meantime.

Perhaps Juve are literally refusing to budge, and LVG is happy with Herrera / Cleverley / Kagawa as CM options? We really don't know what's happening.

I Honestly do believe there was interest, but you can't buy whats for sale. Sure we have the cash but if we get held to ransom we will look even more stupid.
Van Gaal said himself our squad lacks balance. If we go into the new season with our current midfield we'll be lucky to scrape fourth.

I would argue against that to be honest, even if we paid £60m for him, it wouldn't look stupid. In fact it will look stupid if we don't sign a CM of quality and it seems we could have signed him if we force the issue, we will look even more stupid if someone else signs him.
Still I think this one is dead in the water, I'm going to go to my little corner and cry... *sniffs*

Ducker has said it in his articles as well.

Link? All he's said on Twitter is that 4 players are our on radar, no mention of Vidal. But considering all 4 our CB's, that's hardly surprising.

Ladyman hasn't given any names at all, just said we aren't in for Vidal. While Ogden backs up what Ducker says with the same 4 names. Nothing else about transfer targets on any of the other accounts.

Its behind The Times paywall - cant post it but club are saying "no interest" and have done for weeks.

Ducker hasn't mentioned Vidal specifically for a while. Looked at his articles going back to the 17th and no mention.

Juventus seem like they are denial to me. And let's be fair. There are no itk's when it comes to us this year. Also don't get why we keep posting tweets from someone called Juventus_Fan haha! He hangs onto anything possible regarding Vidal

Agreed. I don't see where Di Maria can fit in. What we need is a wingback if we're going to continue with the 3-5-2 formation. I don't watch Real Madrid so can't really say how good Di Marias defensive play is, but i've always assumed he was a wide forward. Someone who plays high up the pitch with little defensive responsibilities.
After watching Madrid last year he does track back and work hard for his team. But some people say use him as a wing back. That would be a definite no go IMO. He would have to play further up if we did buy him. I can still see us playing 4-3-3 next season.

Didn't know where to put this. New diary entry by Ducker.

  • People are surprised at the global appeal of United considering the size of Manchester.
  • DDG is relishing playing in Denver where the air is thinner.
  • Players were told one Friday that they didn't have to come in the next day if they didn't want to. Underlying message = come in if you expect to be treated seriously. Who was the only player who didn't show up? Zaha.

de Gea's quote: “This will be a new experience – it’s always good to play on different pitches, with higher altitudes and under different conditions. While pre-season tours may be quite enjoyable, there can also be a lot of suffering. They are needed – we need them to improve our match fitness before the upcoming season.”

The first of the last two points shows how popular Hernandez is:
  • In the mixed zone at the Rose Bowl after the game where players stop for interview, tonnes of corporate fans wrestled with Spanish-speaking journalists/crew to try to get photo or a word or two with Hernandez. Reporters who were trying to do their job were barged aside in the melee.
  • Yorke and Silvestre were spotted with a personal trainer at the team hotel.

Gotta be honest here I don't think we are in for Di Maria or Vidal or anyone else that's being bandied around twitter! I believe the manager when he says he needed a couple of weeks to decide as to what he needs. He mentioned defence which is what we will sign and it will be as private as it's possible to be.

I'm quite sure only a handful people at United knows our transfer targets. There is zero chance that any of them will brief any journalist anything related to a possible deal before it's almost done. That goes without saying if you're trusted enough to be part of the inner circle. The same apply to all company's who's involved in important dealings, standard procedure as far as I know.

Apart from our Manager, CEO, Chef Scout, the owners and possible a well trusted secretary I'm quite sure the rest is in the dark as much as everybody else. Any leaks will probably come from the players camp or the selling club. The rest is pure speculation.

With that in mind I literally trust nobody until the deal is finished. It's frustrating as hell but the wisest thing to do.
Here here! For our own sanity it's the best thing to do!

Barring those with clear transfer related content, please post Tweets about current United players in their respective player threads.

Feel bad for Southampton fans. Their team has been stripped apart one by one.

Can see them getting relegated next year. I don't rate Koeman as a manager.

De Jong in this window, then Strootman in January is what I think you'll see with regards to midfielders.

So that's what they're calling them now. :nervous:

Certainly looks that way. If he's got such little desire, he might has well spend the rest of his career going from one mid-table pillar to another mid-table post.
Which will probably be the case. Some dream to be in his position but you can't make someone put effort they have to want to do it.

Perhaps I'm the only one, but I don't really think Lovren is all that. One good season on top of quite a few mediocre ones at Lyon, from the little I've seen and what I've read.
