Alex Salmond and Independence

That's the last time I cheer Andy Murray on at Wimbledon whilst draped in my union flag. I feel utterly betrayed.

Just a wee coincidence that all the examples you gave suggested one side was violent and intimidating the other, I see.

Your missing the point and you can't see it because all your interested in is yes v no.

Of course there are many flaws and a few angry people and some who are less informed that they should be but that's democracy. But I'd say a passionate nationwide debate with 97% of adults registered to vote for or against the formation of a country in an entirely democratic revolution is a pretty fecking magnificent first step to it, yeah.

Half of the country against it whatever happens, sounds great.

Doesn't matter which side it comes from and I wasn't suggesting anything. The incidents happened so there was violence and intimidation. You dismissed is as nonsense.

That's nonsense. Move on. Yeah

I dismissed the idea that Scotland as a nation was divided to the point of violence, which is nonsense. If I had just responded to your one sided tirade by pointing out these incidents were so rare, you'd point to how they were all yes voters and insult them or criticise the movement like you do in everything you've said in this thread. Aye move on.

I've never actually been to Wimbledon or supported Andy Murray, still I'm sure there are many British Murray fans that'll be annoyed today.

Being one sided and being hyperbolic are not mutually exclusive.

I'm interested in more than that. Was correcting two clear inaccuracies - 1 that this nation had descended into violence and 2 that in the tiny number of cases it is all yes campaigners. This is a falsehood it's nothing to do with yes v no.

I think that's a hotly contested figure. I've seen claims as low as 25% and as high as just over 50% (I haven't seen the 75% figure).

One thing for certain, it's yet another factor that shows the Yes campaign doesn't have concrete answers for very important questions in regards to how the new Scotland would be set up.

Oil has bee so central and they can't tell the voters with certainty how much there is and now they can't even say with certainty how much they would actually own.

Yeah I'm not going to pretend I know the figures - I'm not Alex Salmond - but it's potentially an enormous setback for an independant Scotland. Like, country ruiningly serious.

A lot of people are making light of the sporadic outbursts of violence and intimidation. Because it is quite low level it might seem funny to some, but these are our countrymen we shouldn't be laughing. The fact tempers are getting flared like this suggests, no matter the outcome, ill feeling will last beyond today. It's not the best start for social cohesion within Britain or without.

Polling stations don't shut until 22:00pm. Hopefully things won't get nasty when people have had a chance to go to the pub.

The problem is that I never said there were not acts of violence on both sides. I simply quoted some facts and you dismissed them as nonsense. Now you've moved the goalposts to call something I did not say is nonsense. You're shit at the crystal ball stuff. All I've done in this thread is to try and engage in debate by questioning peoples opinions and post facts from research I've done. You should try it.

Being selective with the facts is bias too, just as outright lying is. You were extremely selective you can't deny it so now you are suggesting I denied all acts of violence took place. You act like you weren't being misleading when you clearly were but then still have the cheek to finish with that condescending shit?

Nah I had a chat with him on this topic over the past few days

Apparently the BBC haven't bothered to do one anyway, so even when polls close we'll be none the wiser.

We'll have to do it ourselves. I know three people who voted yes and one who voted no. So yes is ahead by 50 % points.

They're conducting polls as we speak; they're just not allowed to publish them. Unofficial data suggests that the Yes vote is currently 10-15% ahead, at least according to what I've heard.

Someone(you?) said that before - where's that come from??

Big kick in the nuts for the English fans who back him. But i guess he has his own views.
You're probably on the wind up, but do you actually believe that? How is what Murray's said an insult to English people?

(Or the Welsh or the Northern Irish)
