Champions League 14/15 group stage matchday 2 (09/30 + 10/01)

Yes. Never saw him for Napoli when he scored against City and Chelsea?

Probably. It's not at the forefront of my memory though. Should probably rephrase it as "never knowingly saw him play a game where was any good"

I reuse to believe Totti is 38. He's one of those players that will always be around, and never retire.

They are bit like Atletico and Dortmund right now where the team is playing better with few stars and individuals looking better.

Naingollan, Castan or Manolas for me are nothing better than what we have. Pjanic vs Mata/Rooney? Strootman yeah.
It definitely helps having a system which suits all of your players, but all those teams have some very good players. It's not that fair to write them off if they don't perform elsewhere if they are in a completely different system though (like Kagawa at Dortmund). Now that we have Herrera though, I agree Naingollan isn't any better. Pjanic would walk into our side though, he's brilliant at dictating the tempo of games, has great passing range and is also a very good dribbler and very creative like most #10's. In a 3 man midfield he'd go in ahead of Mata and Rooney every time for me. Just offers more to the overall game.
Strootman I'd put in the same boat as Naingollan though, we'll see how he recovers but he'd either play as a defensive midfielder at United, or Di Maria would get moved to the #10 position or the wing, and we'd have a 3 of Herrera, Strootman and Blind. With Pjanic it would be Blind, Herrera and Pjanic in midfield behind Di Maria and whoever. Either way, both would offer loads to us I think and if there is one thing you could say our midfield needs after a proper defensive mid, it would be someone to dictate the tempo of games like Pjanic.

Booking fernandinho is worse than commiting a crime, you get tortured if you do it.

Might be extremely harsh but Kompany in the CL has rarely put in a good performance. That Barca game at the Camp Nou was probably his best game in the CL.

Even in that game, Messi tore him apart.

(Or was that the other leg? The time Messi got a penalty was Kompany's fault but everyone blame Demichelis)

Pjanic is pretty good

Would definitely get Xavi on here, Barcelona losing control.

Indeed he did. The first leg was when Kompany was at fault for the Demichelis red card. Kompany just appears to be rash in the CL, trying to win the ball or push forward when he has no need to.

PSG 3:1 up now, didn't expect that. Guess I was wrong Rob!
