Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he shunned Michael Owen in order to sign Park Ji-sung.

The South Korean arrived at Old Trafford in the summer from PSV Eindhoven and is now beginning to settle into The Premiership.

Park produced a wonderful display at Fulham last week as he set up all three goals in United's 3-2 success.

Ferguson, who was heavily linked with Owen before he joined Newcastle, confirmed he opted for to move for Park instead.

"People questioned why we weren't interested in Owen, Michael's a very good player, but we've set our team up in a certain way," said Ferguson.

"We bought Ji-Sung Park in the summer. If we had wanted Owen instead of Park, that could have been an option. But we really fancied Park.

"We're really pleased to have got him. He represents the future.

"He's going to be a terrific player and we're really pleased we've got him."

I think fergie made the right decision,as we never needed overated and overpriced player like owen

Owen and Park are different type of players. Park is a winger while Owen is a striker.
